You may or may not remember, but awhile back I posted about applying for a job that I really wanted.

The job was for a spareboard position at our local pulp mill. Well I got the job as the 4th relief position. What that means is that my name is 4th on the list of people to call when someone is needed to fill a job. There are 11 different jobs that I could be called in for.

I know it doesn't sound like I will get much work, but many of the people who are in these jobs full time have been there for 20+ years. That means that they have tons of holiday hours accumulated, and some are getting ready to retire. With any luck I will have a ful time job within the next 3 years. The top two relief people basically work full time right now.

I knew that I had the job, but I didn't think that I would be starting to work until the summer. I just got a call that they need me to start training next Monday, and that I'll have at least two weeks worth of work.
