Can You Please Help This Animal Rescue?

This is from a friend of mine and I thought you all might want to help. Today is the last day to vote and it only takes a few seconds. If you would it would be very much appreciated.

Rikki's Refuge in Orange, Virginia is an amazing animal rescue organization that is very near and dear to my heart. They have over 1200 animals of all different species, and they run on a shoestring (on a good day!) They're a last-resort type rescue, and take in animals that nobody wants, including animals that have very special needs. They're in a contest to win desperately needed money, and the contest ends on August 22. Every penny would go towards helping the animals.

Their "spokes-cat" has been begging for help on Facebook (not against the rules at all!), and was able to get them up to number one for a while...which apparently angered the group that had been number one, and they complained to Facebook, and for some reason, Facebook has now limited the "spokes-cat's" access to the site, which has resulted in them losing their number 1 spot I guess some people need to be whiny babies to get their way...makes me think of Wildchild's recent events, and just makes me mad!

Anywho...it takes 30 seconds to vote, you don't need to put in your e-mail address or any identifying information, and there's nothing to sign up for. You just go to this website:

Search for Rikki's Refuge in Orange, Virginia, and vote. That's all there is to it!

I would be so very grateful if you can help me help them win. You can vote once a day per computer/cell phone/anything that gets internet access.

So far I have not figured out how to vote. When I put in Rikki's Refuge, VA, in the search box it came back with 0 shelters found. Am still trying.

I just typed in Rikki's in the search, and on the one where you select the state, selected Virginia, and it came up. You have to identify an animal that is shown, to finalize your vote...it was a cow when I voted, and that was all there was to it.

That is correct Graywings. Voting in the semi-finals closes on Tuesday, and you can vote once per day for the same charity until then. Each person gets a maximum of 15 votes, and there were 10 days of voting. Like I said you can vote for the same charity only once per day, so each person also has 5 'extra' votes to distribute to other charities they find worthy. I've been trading with a friend who is supporting a charity in the large category, she's getting my extra 5 and we're getting hers. There are so many worthwhile charities involved that I could easily support!

We went to where the fire was this afternoon. The only people we saw were inspectors. I didn't know any of them, so I didn't ask any questions. It's just so sad. Linda

marilyn - I just did it exactly as you did and it is still showing 0 shelters found. Don't know what the problem is. :(

I wonder if I have been here and voted before so it won't take?? We only have until midnight.

Even had I been there before, you are allowed to vote daily so that can't be it. So I had opened the link in a new window, so closed it and just clicked on the link. Also, I had copied and pasted the rescue name so I deleted it and typed it in. I'm getting nowhere fast!

Moonie, when I did the search (put in Rikki's only) it said 0 at first, then a few seconds later Rikki's Refuge showed up. I got my vote in. They are pretty far behind now it looks like.

Now I have only selected country and state and still get 0 hits. Sorry, I just have to give up. It's driving me crazy.

I put in the URL she posted and pulled the voting site right up. I thought I would check it out to see if there was a contact number to confirm it was the real deal. I Googled "Rikki's Refuge in Orange, Virginia" and the actual refuge came up.

Moonie, when you get the purple box that says "0" shelters, look down at the bottom of the box and see if it says Rikkis.

Done! It was simple. The only problem I had was my own stupidity. I mistakenly clicked on VT instead of VA and the city of Orange. So of course it came up with 0 first. When I corrected that it was fine and came up with 2 results in Orange, VA.

I didn't put in the name of the shelter at all. I just chose VA as the state and Orange as the city, then chose Rikki's when the 2 popped up.

Okay, obviously I am doing something wrong and apparently doing it wrong approximately 50 times! LOL

Anyone see the problem?

moonie, I can't remember if the name of the shelter came up with an apostrophe or not. Try leaving the name of the shelter blank (it's optional). Choose VA (as you have) and type Orange into the City field (you can see where it says (optional). So you'll just have VA and Orange, then search. It should come up with 2 shelters (you'll probably have to scroll down).

It didn't accept my first attempt at putting grizzly bear in for the pic.
So I typed in bear, and it didn't like that one either.
Another picture of a bear showed up, and I typed in bear, and it kicked me out.

My elephant confirmation took too.

Spent way too much time shopping on that site. T-shirt I wanted came up for $16.95 when I first saw it but by the time I looked at more pages and went back to order it was coming up $19.95. Maybe I'm just tired and mistaken. I'll vote and check again tomorrow.
