Hey RC, I read in one of the threads that you are able to play Youtubes on your PDN. I did that last big update when I got the notice fron Pandigital I thought I would be able to play Youtubes also, but I can't. Pics won't even come up in my emails. My niece wanted to be able to play Angry Birds on the PDN but no luck on that either. Angry Birds is an Android game as far as I know. I had downloaded it a couple of times but nothing happens after that. Do I have to download Flash or something similar to get Angry Birds and pics to come up in emails? Mare

you have to install the apps to make those things work. This link will tell you about the most common apps to get including the youtube app.

scroll down to that section on the page and it has links to the apps including the youtube app.
The android market has lots of free apps including a lot of free games. You should be able to get some of them right from the android market on the upgraded PDN

I'm having a problem. I went the 1st site, then the app site and downloaded Angry Birds, then transferred it to an SD card. I then transferred it to the PDN. It seemed to transfer and open but it took forever to load. There were blank spaces on the screen. I thought that the file must be corrupted. I uninstalled from the PDN, wiped it off the SD card and went thru the whole process again. Now when I click on the app on the SD card I get a window telling me that the installation is blocked. Any ideas?

ok here is the deal on google I just went to my gmail to see if it did it to me and yes that screen came up asking for my mobile number I have never given it and won't if you just go to the bottom of that page and hit save and continue it takes you right to you email you are not forced to fill out your phone number. Just skip it and hit continue. I did and it opened right to my email. They want your cell number as a safety net if someone is trying to hack your account, I give them an alternate email address instead and they contact me that way. Which they did recently when someone was trying to access my account. Plus they put a lock on my gmail till I answered them from my alternate email address. About B&N that is exactly why you keep a copy of all your books on your pc so you are not depending on them. I have a folder on my pc with a copy of all my books, plus I have them on the SD card in my tablet.

In some cases people use a power strip or some type of plug in strip for all their pc equipment, once the pc is shut down and then they want to shut down the rest they just hit that one button on the strip and turn off all the power to everything, that can be good in a storm when you need to shut down everything fast. However when powering back up it can be a problem if that one button is switched and everything tries to power up at the same time instead of the proper sequence, so if that is the case it is a good practice to unplug your router before turning on the power button on that strip, so that the modem can do it's thing and gain the settings then plug in the router and let it do it's thing, once those are done all the rest of the stuff pc and laptop etc can be turned on. I know I am guilt of having done that especially in a storm, then I forget and just turn the power button on and every time I do that at least one item usually my PDN or my husbands laptop will have a problem connecting. glad you got it working again just remember that for future reference. That password is so long and uses numbers and cases so it can be easily typed in wrong on that PDN keyboard.

they don't usually send out a notice for the firmware it is up to you to visit the PDn site and look for new firmware updates to install. the directions for how to do the firmware update is on the page where the firmware is located, I would do the SD card method (option 2). You want to make sure you get the firmware for the white US unit if that is what you have. You want to do the update with the unit plugged in so there is no chance of battery failure. Power off the unit(make sure you see the power off dialog), insert the sd card with the update on it, do not open the zip file at all just put it as it is on your sd card then insert sd card in slot,Where it says to hold the power button and the volume button at the same time you need to hold it longer than they say hold it till you see the little android icon and the unpacking bar, it will not go fully across the bar but it will reboot, then check your version number to make sure it now has the new firmware. I worried when you said you had re-seated the internal card that sometimes has caused problems. It may be that you will need to return it and get a new one if the firmware update does not do the trick. You want to be able to use the wifi so you can surf and do email and that kind of stuff. All the directions on how to do the update and all other info can be found on your unit in the library in the book there that is the user manual, read it all. Firmware Updates for Pandigital the latest version on the site is 11-19 also at the top you can click to view the user manual and guides in pdf.

I would suggest Avast but what do I know since my ASUS PC now appears to be bricked due to this virus. I started full scans of my spyware/malware programs last night to try to identify and clean out this virus, which I also got in the course of a recipe search, apparently from the Food Network. Unfortunately my son got up this morning, saw my netbook sitting there with the clamshell up, thought I'd left it on by accident, and shut it down. Now it won't boot, not even in safe mode. I know the winlogon.exe file was corrupted and had scheduled a boot scan in Avast, but what it does now is cycle constantly between the blue screen with a message that flashes past far too quickly for me to read it, and the windows boot screen. It never comes up. Since it was shut down before I got up this morning, I also didn't get to write down my XP license number, so even though I have access to an external DVD and an XP installation disk, I DON'T have a valid license # to enter. I fear my netbook is bricked, all because of a recipe for apple streusel pie.

Is there some reason you are not just getting them directly to the PDN?

Also be sure you do get one of the better browsers some of those already have the flash and stuff in them. I have mini Opera and Dolphin browser, there is also a firefox version.

You will run into some apps that will not work with the version of Android that is on the PDN, some only work on the newer versions.

Since you have done the big updated to your PDN and you do have the white one you should be able to just hit the market app on your device and download right to the PDN, it will show the little download arrow up in the top notifications bar then you can swipe down that notification bar and tap it and it should take you right to it.

he shows pretty much how to do that in the video I linked to even though he is doing it on a black PDN which is not nearly as functional as the white one.

Afer I posted last I downloaded the app directly to the PDN. It took a while and doesn't work too well. Tales too long to load and do everything it's supposed to do, according my niece. It's not fun to play the way it is. Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions. Mare
