I think I would try the new firmware from pandigital site which would be the 8-06 version you have the 7-18 version.
I had no problems at all with mine once I put in my password to my wifi network it connected and now when I start it and try to go to the web it comes up asking if I want to connect and I say yes wait for it to do it's thing and it connects and stays connected, sometimes it does connect on it's own to check the B&N store to update their list.
You could also ask over at slatedroid but I would guess they will ask if you tried the new firmware.

It is very strange because what you show in your picture is exactly what I see when mine is connected the green curved signal lines which means connected.

How do I get the new firmware? I just may give up trying to connect at home. I have to go to the hospital tomorrow for a blood draw and they have wi-fi. I get on with my netbook there.

Don't know if this will be of any help, but nothing ventured, nothing gained. When I first went wireless I was having a problem connecting. I had to call the manufactured of the modem. They walked me thru the setup and for some reason my passcode that they had me enter (weird, I know)is about 20 numbers and letters long. When setting up the PDN I first entered the passcode with the letters in lower case, which is usually the norm. For some reason I didn't connect til I entered the letters in upper case. Goodluck with the setup.

well trying it somewhere else would sure help determine if it is your home wifi that has the problem. Might be worth waiting just to check that out. I have never used a Belkin router so not real familiar with them.

those passcodes are extremely important to get right or it will not work for sure.

The new firmware you can get from the pandigital download page if you do not have an SD card you can connect your PDN with the usb cable to your PC and get the firmware using that method, which would be the method on the left on their site Option 1.
also there on that same page below where the firmware is you can find the pdf files you can download for your user manual and quick start guide.

If you have an SD card I prefer that method, you will probably want to pick one up to have to use for it anyway, and they are pretty cheap, you can store your books on it.

WELL!!!! That was a fun ride. I went into my router settings and cloned the wan mac address. It said it would not affect my network. Then I couldn't connect to the internet with my PC....so I did a system restore (last restore date was 8/9/2010). Anyway, when it rebooted, both my monitors were BLACK. Rebooted my modem and router and all is well, except I have to do some updates. I will try to remember to get an SD card tomorrow and try to connect at the hospital.

oh no, but there was no need to do that, as I said if MAC address was not turned on -disabled- and there were not any addresses listed in that area for your other computers then that was not what was causing the problem.

I am hoping it will connect at the hospital so you know if it is your home wifi and at least have one thing nailed down.

by the way someone I am helping on another forum tried the firmware update last night using the usb cable method and ended up with the 7-18 firmware not the new 8-06 version so apparently for some reason Pandigital still has not changed that.

My PDN did not connect at the hospital. It found the signal but would not connect. I didn't get an SD card yet, when I leave the hospital the only thing on my mind is getting back home.

Will check back in when after I get the SD card and try the firmware update.

Ok..I think I'm ready to take the plunge and install the latest firmware (S10_08_06). Reviewing the instructions.

Connect to AC adapter, power off. Insert SDcard. Hold volume key up+power on button. Wait for Android icon to appear.

When should I let up on power key and volume key? How long does the upgrade usually take. When will I know it is installed and what to do if something goes wrong?

don't fret! you let go as soon as you see the android icon which will then show the progress bar of the install, it will not show a full progress bar only maybe less than half then it will restart itself. once it is all done then go back to where you looked for your firmware version on the PDN and it will show the new number if all went well, be sure before doing this you write down your serial number and all that stuff on that settings page because it may go to zero after an update some have had that happen.

If something goes wrong you just do it again. Make sure you have nothing else on the SD card and you have left it zipped and not done anything to the file, I would plug in the power cord, make sure you are doing a full shut down by seeing the power down message, then go for it.
Usually the only times something went wrong was if the actual file that was used was corrupted and just getting the file new and doing it again fixed that.

the file you are using the 8-06 firmware should show as being about 69MB in size, to check that you can right click on the zip file and select properties.

I have it plugged into the power cord, firmware is 8_06, compressed file size 70.719KB, (download said it was 69.1MB. Took quite a while to download)...only thing on the SD card...Full shutdown....I have all the settings written down. Serial number, firmware version, etc.

get er done! I hope this fixes your connection issue, I have not seen anyone else with your problem. I would think it was in the router however it should then connect at other locations with the network password input and saved for the connection of course.

Well, I did it. I'm on the web with it. It isn't the fastest horse in the race...

no it is not a netbook or a pc it has a pretty small processor in the itty bitty thing(same as a smart phone basically) but works very well for what it is, mine is pretty spiffy usually. I just so miss my firefox browser and all my stuff I have on it. If I would do the hack I could utilize one of the other browsers that are a bit better than the one on the PDN. but I manage as is.

I didn't really think it would be very fast. I mainly want to purchase books to read.
I set up an account @ Barns and Nobel, clicked on 'sample' of a book I was interested in. It said it was added to my library, but I don't see it.

Never mind...I fiddle-farted around and got it downloaded...âº

yea you do that then have to do the get books thing and check mark the ones to have it download from your list. It took me a couple tries too the first time. Now when I do it from feedbooks.com it immediately puts them into my library.

B&N also has some very decent free books if you do a search there for free ebooks, just read the comments because some times it is just a few chapters not the whole book and they list it as the full book.

Well...I'm back to not being able to connect to the internet. But it only concerns connecting via my router.

All of a sudden, I can not connect to the internet via my router. My firmware is version S10_11_19. My Wi-fi is turned on. I can connect to public signals. My granddaughter has a PDN just like mine and she was able to connect through my router. All I did was give her my password and she connected immediately.

did you tap on it where it lists your network and let the box come up for the password and try re-entering the password?

Yes, I have re-entered my password several times. The time is set correctly...I'm baffled. As stated, I can connect to the other networks when I am in range. I am only 5-6 feet from my router.

ok this happened to me a week or so ago, this is what fixed it for me. I powered off everything, my pc, my router, my modem everything. Then power up in this sequence, modem first let it get fully lit up then power up the router let it get fully lit up, then your pc, then after all of that is up then try turning on your PDn and seeing if it will connect. ( I just unplug the power cord from the back of my modem and router so it is easier to reach then plug modem in first then router)

Why this helps is sometimes when the power goes off or things power down out of sequence the external wifi devices do not catch the new settings, IP etc. That worked like a charm for me.

I understand the modem, router sequence but why would it matter if you powered up your PC before the Novel?

it would not I was just letting her know that in that sequence she could then start the pc, NOT before the modem or router. I did not want to leave her pc out of the equation. But the PDN could go prior to the pc.

It's finally connecting....I tried just 'connecting' and it wouldn't do anything. Then I re-entered my password and it connected...keeping my fingers crossed...

In some cases people use a power strip or some type of plug in strip for all their pc equipment, once the pc is shut down and then they want to shut down the rest they just hit that one button on the strip and turn off all the power to everything, that can be good in a storm when you need to shut down everything fast. However when powering back up it can be a problem if that one button is switched and everything tries to power up at the same time instead of the proper sequence, so if that is the case it is a good practice to unplug your router before turning on the power button on that strip, so that the modem can do it's thing and gain the settings then plug in the router and let it do it's thing, once those are done all the rest of the stuff pc and laptop etc can be turned on.

I know I am guilt of having done that especially in a storm, then I forget and just turn the power button on and every time I do that at least one item usually my PDN or my husbands laptop will have a problem connecting.

glad you got it working again just remember that for future reference. That password is so long and uses numbers and cases so it can be easily typed in wrong on that PDN keyboard.
