After reading the "I did it" post, it seems several in this group have been affected.

I was first diagnosed in February, 1999.

2nd diagnosis was in March, 2003.

I am fine now...

Diagnosed May 2002 two surgeries, chemo, radiation
I am doing fine now and pray that I will continue to be cancer free.

Diagnosed in Aug., 1999, surgery, radiation and took Tamoxafin for about 6 mos. until I could no longer stand the heat. I've taken Evista since then.

Thanks again to each and every one of you. Reading your messages was the last thing I did before heading into the clinic to face my results. Thanks to you all, I didn't feel as alone. I am brainstorming ways I could pass this on and do the same for others in the same circumstances. After going through this, I am so humbled by the courage that must be mustered in those who do learn they have cancer. Thank you, thank you all!

Vit. D and breast cancer survival

You might want to have your Vitamin D level checked the next time you have your blood tested. I know my Internist now screens for D levels. My son had low levels and had to take a prescription dose of Vitamin D to bring his level back up to normal. There's also a correlation between low D and prostate cancer. I'm not knowledgeable but would like you to get some help. There is a very nice forum called Kitchen Table. It is made of mostly women of all ages and I would love to see you put it there. It is very active and the members have been through many things. This site for some reason isn't active. However, two women were very helpful when I had sciatica problems. When I asked about in on The Kitchen Table I had about 43 replies. So good luck and try them out.

Silverdove you are only the second person I have heard from who has personally been able to use the SAVI. (The other person is my SAVI Sister from KS who just went through the treatment in March.). if you don't mind sharing, how long did it take you to get this experience in the rear view mirror and move on? I am just 1 week + 1 day out of radiation so I have just begun the healing process. Next week I hope to go to physical therapy for exercises for my arm on the surgery side. Do we always (forever) have to accommodate that side --like carry the purse on the non surgery side, etc.? Thank you so much for writing! I can hardly wait to be able to say like you "back in such and such year I had ....." You are an encouragement Silverdove!

Diagnosed last month,had a bilateral mastectomy last week.Still don't know exactly what lies ahead as all my pathology reports weren't back when i went to the dr on wednesday.I go back again this friday and hope they have them back,and hope they take these drains out.

2002 and 2003 for me....I did two surgeries and radiation.

Inflammatory Breast Cancer in 2000. Chemo first, then mastectomy and rads. Tamoxifen for 5 years, now Femara for 5 years but possibly 10 years depending what the studies show.

I am not a breast cancer patient.....but have just finished walking down the path with my sister. As tough as cancer is on just life alone, it has given me and my sis a new life together. One that would not have been otherwise.

I want to give each and every one of you a giant hug.

Wear your pink proud, and wear it loud.

((((((((((Eva)))))))))))) Losing a twin sister would be incredibly hard. I feel that my cancer was harder on my twin than it was on me.

I found my lump on June 19, 2008. Had a partial mastectomy on July 11th. On Femara now and start radiation this week.

Lumpectomy and radiation in 1985. Second time in 1996, mastectomy and reconstruction.

When I read stories like these I can't help but be amazed at the courage, perseverance and dignity with which you fight this hell-ish disease, and wonder why, why, WHY it happens.
