The Kitchen Table

My one & only is 25 today! (pic)

How the years have flown! And they certainly have been interesting. (Those of you who have read some of my other posts know what I am talking about.) But lets not dwell on that, this is a day of joy and celebration, so lets party!!!

I am making him a homemade carrot cake, his favorite, from carrots in the garden. We are going out to his favorite restaurant, "The Greek". He loves Greek food. We are watching a DVD he picked "Dead Like Me, Life After Death", the movie, after the party tonight.

Here is a comparison of then and now. DS isn't the only who has changed. (I refuse to have my picture taken because of that fact!) LOL!

Great pictures. He certainly favors his dad. What's his name? I wish him a very Happy Birthday. The cake and dinner sound delicious!

What a beautiful Daylily.Love it.,,As for the Dove,they are pretty, but,I am glad its there in your yard nesting and NOT in mine.They sound like a Pigeon when they coo,and I don't like to hear them,A bad experience when I was little, made me not want to hear or see a Pigeon,and the Doves resemble them a lot.When I was almost 8 yrs old,I had a pet Pigeon.The minute you walk outside he would come fly down and either sit on your head or on your shoulder and I fed him by hand every day.I had named him El-CON. A circular polorizing filter works very well with rainbows. You can have a rainbow that is barely visible with the naked eye and the filter will bring out tremendous detail. If you have a digital camera play with the contrast, this will also give you a brighter rainbow. I have the Minolta A-2 which is great for this. When you make adjustments you can see what you will get before you shoot. It has a 28mm to 200mm optical zoom and you can get out to 400mm with the digital zoom. You can also get an attachment that screws on the filter threads that can triple the focan lenth and get out to 1200mm. This camera is also great for copy work and close ups. This has a tremenmdouus range in a light weight package and is also very good in low light. Due to shutter lag and focus lag it is a little slow for birds in motion but acceptable. For birds in motion I prefer to use the Minolta 7d with a long telephoto lens. This camera with all the lenses in very heavy and when you play with the digital effects you don't see what you get till you veiw your picture. When you shoot you take into account what your going for and the conditions and take what you think you'll need. Can't carry everything. I wouldn't part with either camera they both have their nich.

Thanks everyone! Funny story regarding his name. He started out as Thomas, named after a favorite uncle of mine. I use to call him that and only that. But when he was about 4 YO he came home rom preschool and told me, not asked, that he be called Tommy. Now he goes by Tom or Tommy or his full name when he is in trouble. LOL
