Haven't accomplished much around here this morning. My car had to go into the garage for a minor repair. I take it in and sit and wait for it to be done so as not to have to bother others to come get me, take me back, etc.

Send me some of those peaches. I'm down to my last one that I got at the Amish place last week.

I'm going to make a list of things I want to cook within the next few days. I like having leftovers, ready to heat and eat.

Are Hanover stores just a local thing? Sounds like something I'd like.

It's too hot here to do anything outdoors, so I took my 11-yr. old Grandson to buy school shoes. At 2 p.m. today, I will take him to register for school, then hopefully I will get back to cleaning out closets and hauling all the 'junk' I don't wear, can't wear, don't need to Goodwill.

I went for a run this morning in the trails along the river - it was gorgeous. And then came in and got on the internet. I'm buying a digital camera and so I've been on the internet doing a bunch of research and I'm getting it narrowed down! This afternoon I think I'll go to a couple of camera stores and check them out more closely.

This is my fall project. I want to learn how to use a digital camera which I will be able to do quite easily and then I'm taking a course (just a hobby course) on how to integrate my camera with the internet. Then I can contribute my poor little offerings to the Shot of the Day. Yea!

I had a very nice morning going to a few sales with two of my daughters and little granddaughter. I found a few bargains. After playing with Alyssa for awhile we decided to eat lunch out and then I would come home and can. We ate out but the service was really slow, they are understaffed. While we were waiting it started to rain, and it is still raining so no more picking tomatoes for today. Right now I am getting ready to can green beans and after that I am planning on canning the tomatoes I have on hand into juice. So my day has been very nice. Glad for the rain too.

Gadgets--I feel for you--I detest that waiting at the dealership while they fiddle around. Hope you had a good book or some sewing to help you pass the time. The Hanover place is an outlet at the processing plant where some of the company's products are made. They sell Hannover things (frozen and canned veg) as well as some other brands that honestly? I've never heard of but the quality seems pretty decent and the prices are unbelievable. You have to watch the dates. And I guess some of the items are 'mistakes' (the gal at the register was removing the wrong labels from some cans and replacing them with the right ones this morning while we were shopping).

Kayj--If it's too hot for much of anything, IMO--it's DEFINITELY too hot for cleaning closets--you have my permission to put that off until a cooler day, LOL

BLfenton--what fun. I need a course like that. I KNOW I'm not taking full advantage of mine.

Sue--sounds like a lovely morning. Believe me, I wasn't complaining about getting rain--we really need it this year. It was just that we were out, got 'trapped' in Burger King for a while (and the power went out for a bit) then we had to fight our way home through the weather. Otherwise, I was delighted to see some. Have fun with the canning--now that the freezer's arrived, I plan to get busy filling it with summer's bounty so we're set for this winter.

I finished the laundry. Got two loads washed, dried, folded and put away. Did the usual straightening of the house. Made cranberry sauce since I have 4 bags of cranberries in the freezer that need to be used. Now I'm trying to decide if I "need" to make cookies or not. :-)

Got my exercise in (90 minute walk/run with the dogs, hour of weight training) and now I am taking a break from cleaning. It's cool and blustery here today with overcast skies, highs in the 60's. We are having labor day guests up here, and I thought I would get a head start on cleaning so I can concentrate on trying new recipes later on.

OK, Sue - THANKS! I was looking for someone to tell me to 'give it a rest'!!!!

Patti if you like date squares try using some of your cranberry sauce in place of the dates ...dollars to dimes if you serve them without telling anyone they will say they like them and they taste like raspberries...not cranberries that they wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole. I freeze them in the pan for use later if I make more than one batch at a time. Cranberry meatballs are to die for...can you tell we love cranberries around here? I use them daily when I have them. Cannot wait to stock up for the winter again.

It was in the mid 90's today & we had to pick up wood. Our friend does logging & when he has good wood for the wood stove he calls us so we can go cut it & load it on the truck. I don't mind the work but not when it is this hot. Dinner was very light as every joint in my body hurts

This has been a beautiful day weatherwise, so I took advantage of it and went "down the road" instead of into town. Because of my vision problem I don't drive when it is raining, and this was my first rambling day in a while,

First I went to a beauty shop where "walkins are welcome" and had my haircut, which was in bad need of a cutting. I like the cut, so I'll go back there for sure. Then I went to Family$ where I bought some things that were in their ad. Something that I haven't been able to find at Krogers, WalMart or Food Lion for years . . . Mexican Corn Bread Mix. It is so good and makes good bread or muffins. On to DuPont Credit Union, which is much closer to me than the one in town. Last stop was $General. I love those $ stores.

Came home, turned on the TV, had my daily glass of Carnation Essentials and napped for an hour.

These stops are more or less in a line so I realized I don't need to go into town so often now. So this was a good day for me. Dinner will be cottage cheese, Farmer's Market tomato and cuke slices and a tube steak.

You all are so ambitious and busy. I used to be.

Well, Sue and Marilyn, I loved your suggestions, but myself got the better of me and I ended up mowing the lawn - MAN, it was HOT out there!

My Grandson was born at 7:51 am! We finally got to see him at 11 and left at 12 to go see a house. Then I went to stay with the new baby's 15 month old sister so the other Grandma could go to the hospital. Our realtor had the papers done for us to sign to make an offer at 8:30. And we just got back on Tues. from a 6 day (driving) trip 1400 miles for our son's wedding Sat. If the house goes through we get a trifecta for the week!
