Wednesday Update

We had a blast last night. After dinner I fixed everyone and ice cream cone and we sat out on the trampoline. My DH and I were sitting across from each other with Tanna and Trace between us so we were sitting in one big circle and I was holding Tayler on my lap.

We were all giggling and being silly and Tanna told DH she had a secret she wanted to tell him so he leaned over so she could tell him her secret and when he did he leaned his arm out (the one holding his ice cream) to balance. This put his ice cream within inches of Trace. She gets this little grin on her face, licks her ice cream, leans forward and licks DH, giggles a little and does it again.

I thought I was going to fall of the trampoline laughing. I motioned for DH to look but not to move his arm and just as he looked she leaned forward and took a big lick off his ice cream. He jumped over to her and started teasing her about stealing his ice cream. She could not stop laughing. It was so cute.

Even though we were married 17 years before we had the girls I can't tell you how many times we say to each other "what did we do before the girls?" They are amazing!

Tanna asked me to tell everyone that she will be five in eight days and started school in 33 days! :0) We are on the count down at our house!

Your posts never fail to bring a tear or two to my eyes. They just really are so heartwarming. Makes you realize it's the little things like stolen ice cream licks that really matter. I am so happy for your newfound family.

Those girls are SO INCREDIBLY lucky to have you and your husband.

Jerseygirl, not sure if I got the email as I don't remember the link. I have the page open, will check it out. Fly; he was hoping to still go to Mexico (trip was canceled due to surgery 9/22) this spring to fish but that dream was kind of killed a few weeks ago by a phone call he got; which is why I think he's been so in the dumps. Mcmann; yeah we got snow; it's part of the reason why I haven't been online much after we got it. Been trying to clean up as much as I can so that it starts to melt. Whoever plows our street did a horrible job. I can't wait for the snow to melt & my roses to start growing. I so need spring to get here. We saw the Dr on the 9th; had to be the worst visit we've had yet due to the long wait plus the Rad oncologist having some kind of emergency with another patient. He was in and out of the room a few times. Didn't care for the new Fellow he had. The Dr said that nothing lit up; not even the radiation spots; he was amazed at how clean the scan was. After we left, I kicked myself because I forgot to ask one question I'd had written down which was why my hubby's Adam's apple was swollen. I set up a Valentines surprise with our old neighbors; they drove up from TN with their 4 kids. Hubby was very surprised to see them. This was another reason I haven't been online much; had to get my house presentable. With me/us still out 3-4 days a week with appointments that were put aside & with all the snow; stuff was all over. The visit was enough to get him out of his funk.. he's had a pretty good week. Monday he woke up with the swelling worst; it had moved to his jaw. I called the Dr; they scheduled an appointment for Thursday. Of course the Dr called back the next day while I was at my back appointment; hubby didn't ask any of the questions I had. Thursday we saw the radiation machine techs; it's been a while since we last saw them; so that lifted him up. The Dr explained that since the swelling was moving, it was a good sign there was nothing wrong. He wrote a script for massage therapy to get the fluid moving. He said with the neck dissection scar tissue & radiation that fluid that would normally pass through & get absorbed wasn't but it should get better. I let him drive home from Philly; so that I know if he decided to get in his pickup; I know he's physically ok to drive. He hasn't driven since late early November. I'm hoping we can get his physical therapy set up next week. He's still so tired but is trying not to nap during the day because he can't sleep at night. I just hope that he doesn't speak to anyone on the phone that will get him down again.

QOD: Friday: A date with DH! We haven't had a date in 10 months, but finally found a lady who is fingerprinted and back-ground checked who can watch Baby V once a month. Besh, maybe we'll light a fire later...right. One DD has a slumber party and one DD has a dance, so we are going to dinner on the waterfront! Saturday: Book fair at 9. Pick up pre-ordered tree at 10. Community Santa party at 4 to get Baby's pic with Santa,-if he will tolerate it! (Baby, not Santa...) Maybe a visit with prospective adoptive parents. Sunday: Off the rock to choose light fixtures for the new place. Maybe another visit with adoptive parents. Then DH leaves to go to the city for 2 nights and I have big plans to organize THE WORLD--(insert evil laugh here.) Donna- Hugs for your mom. Wow! That sounds painful! I slammed my right-hand pointer finger in my glovebox last Friday and took off the top of it. It's been pretty enlightening, learning how much I use that pointer! It's getting better after getting worse! Patti-Enjoy the scrapbooking. Dave has the right idea, for sure. Have fun with water! Peg: Your aunt is trying to keep you busy so you don't get into trouble! Everything happens for a reason! She sounded like she loved life and has everything planned out for leaving it. I love pre-plans in the funeral biz. It makes decision making much easier. I saw so many families aginize over the deceased and their funerals. PLAN AHEAD! Besh: I never miss "The Year There Was No Santa Claus" Heat Miser and Cold Miser are the bomb! Milkdud: The Friends of the Library here does SO MUCH! They also have a book sale in teh spring at the elementary school that earns a ton of money. People donate books all year and the "Friends" organize them on the risers at the school and sell them for a dollar an inch. NHSuzanne: you and your "Where did the year go?" lol. It was you who, a few months ago, couldn't wait to get through 2008! I remember because I felt SO STRONGLY the same way! Now we have almost made it. Raeanne and Milkdud: I still take the ferry and drive to my old town for dentist--an 8 hour drive plus the time in the chair. I take my kids there too. I can't bear to part with my dentist. I have found a new hairdresser but it's a ferry ride away and a short drive. I sent my kids as guinea pigs for the first visit, but I will go myself this month! Raeanne- PROMOTE YOURSELF. Your work is amazing. But the "shy" you would be fascinating to witness, I'm sure....lol. Have a geat weekend, everyone!

kathyg, I hope your DH is well and that the cancer is one of the less dangerous ones! I send thoughts of healing his way. I spent an hour or so at the old house today with the rent-to-owner. I stopped by to drop off the packet of owner's manuals for the house. She had just finished paying the movers and I showed her the ins and outs of various things about the house. She had already been weeding the perennials and we looked at the gardens so I could show her what was what. We were both excited and talking a mile a minute. She has beautiful furniture and my attempt to paint neutral colors in the living/dining area resulted in trim that perfectly toned with the color of her taupe leather furniture. The ceiling fan we replaced a few years ago was the same color, too. It looked perfectly planned. The neighbors across the street greeted her and her friend with margaritas on Friday night when she finished carrying in a car full of her things. She still loves the place (called it "charming"!) and her friend did too. She feels lucky to have gotten it for a price she can afford, and we have nothing but relief that we get $1000/mo toward the carrying costs!

Terrylyn-Our twins are afraid of the vacuum too.Rowdy was especially afraid and would almost become hysterical every time we brought it out.We would have to take him into another part of the house.DS brought out the vacuum the other day and they were both sitting in the chair with me. I told them to lift their feet and lifted mine to show them.All 4 little legs went straight up in the air and they sat like that until DS finished.He made a big deal of "vacuuming under our feet" so they could see the vacuum wasn't going to hurt us.Now when the vac comes out they jump on the couch or in a chair and lift their feet and Rowdy doesn't scream anymore.Maybe you could try that with your DGD. RE:Wash cloths,facecloths etc.We always called them "wash rags".LOL

I have been going back a few pages to kind of get caught up on your "wonderful happenings".. and now I love to come in and get my morning "fix" of what is new with you and your awesome family. I too agree... you should do a blog. it would be wonderful reading...

I'm glad your Hubs got back from the fire he was fighting, OK. From the sounds of your posts, it sounds like your falling a little more in love with this super guy. I'm so happy for your happiness.

I searched for a new post today! What will I do when I am on vacation??? A blog might be a good idea-it can be private and with pictures. What is the date for the finalizing of the adoption?? It sounds like everyone (adults and kids) have settled in with little or no problems...like it was meant to be. Did you have the trampoline for you and DH?? Just curious because you mentioned it once before, so I know it isn't new.

I come to this board everyday with the hope of reading something new! I think you should start a blog too. I know you are trying to keep things very quiet but I would love to send a birthday card. If you think that would be ok, just let me know. I understand if not. I can't wait to hear reactions when school starts!

We have had the trampoline for a couple of years now. I have always wanted one and for my birthday DH got me one. I make him sleep on it at least once during the summer, it's the most uncomfortable thing in the world to sleep on and he complains the entire time but we do it anyway.

The adoption should be final the first part of next week. I received a phone call from our lawyer last week and the paper work is almost done.

The paper work to legally change their names has gone through so we now all have the same last name. Seems kind of strange that their names have all changed but the adoption hasn't gone through.

They are legally ours since she gave up her rights but the adoption papers still had to be done.

Guess this answers my question about you getting any help from the state on bills for the doctor/dentist/clothes/whatever.

I'm really amazed that an adoption can be final so fast. In my state/county I'm pretty sure the girls would be considered Wards of the State with a guardian ad litum appointed for them for at least six months. A social worker would have to do a case study on you and your DH too. Is this different because their mother 'placed' them with you?

Thanks for the update! I've been gone all day and couldn't wait to see if there was anything new. I'm so glad the girls are able to laugh and have a good time. You and Fireman are doing a great job.

I'm another one that thinks you should write a blog. You have quite a fan club here! Please continue to write when you can. We love hearing from you.
