Don't I feel stupid?

Supposed to have a stress test today. I get to Dr. office right on time, 8:45. Why was I there so early? Supposed to be at 10:45. No, I'm sure the card said 8:45 but I don't have it with me. Office lady apologized profusely for the mistake. No biggie, I'll come back later. Got back to the office and looked at the calendar. Appointment was at 10:45!! Guess I'll be the one to apologize when I go back.

Don't feel bad...I've shown up on the wrong day more than once.

Several years ago (probably in the 70s, so it wasn't a senior thing) I drove through a terrible snow storm to get to my doctor...I was a week early...LOL

Talk about feeling stupid. Everything was closed down. Even the doctors office was only running with one or two that made it in...they were calling all their patients to reschedule.

It could have been worse, it could have been the other way around. Think how bad that would have been. LOL I have actually done that, shown up late because I wrote the time down wrong. I like it when Dr.'s offices call the day before as a reminder just in case I got it wrong.

After a little research I am pretty sure what I have are paper wasps, they are a little longer and more slender than some photos of yellow jackets, and they don't really seem to be too aggressive, I tried photographing one that kept flying around and around my potted golden celebration (my rose with the most leaf damage) it was very obviously checking the undersides of leaves & it payed me no attention at all. It was kind of neat to see this in action, these bugs are obviously pretty intelligent and seem to remember finding the larvae in that area before. BUT don't get me wrong, even if this type of wasp is less aggressive than actual yellow jackets I am still terrified of these little critters. Especially after researching them and reading a few of those horror stories out there. I just hope I never happen upon these guys' nest, I don't see it anywhere on my porch or my yard, so hopefully it's in my neighbor's yard! Michaelg, when you say yellow jackets usually don't do that until October, do you mean that they usually don't show their faces until that late in the year, or that they seem to be more aggressive around that period of time?

I love Spuria too but didn't get my orders in on time so I'll have to wait until next year. I have my hands full still needing to plant over 100 rhizomes and a half-bushel of daffodils and a few naked ladies. Hoping to do it this weekend but it's supposed to rain again. They may all end up in pots for now, such a dilemma to have. ;-)

I turned 60 a few weeks ago. I can't believe I'm even typing that! It was nothing for me turning 50. But 60 is just shocking to me. I'm grateful to be in good overall health. I've never been a gym-goer or a strict dieter, but I've always been active, eaten well, maintained my weight, drink little, used sunscreen, etc. I keep up with everyone in the family whether it's hiking a mountain, doing heavy yard work, housework, kayaking, swimming, ice skating. I don't think my grandkids ever consider that I might be too old to join in any activity. So strange, as I never saw my own grandmother in a bathing suit and can't remember any of the grandparents even going for a long walk. My DH is even more athletic than I am - but he's only 59 ;) He still plays ice hockey once a week on a men's league with my 37 yr. old SIL. The only real issue I have with aging is my eyes. Why did I never appreciate perfect vision?! I didn't need reading glasses till into my 50's. Then 3 yrs. ago I needed help for distance, too. Thought I solved things by getting Progressive contacts, but my eyes became sensitive to them so I can only wear them for several hours at a time. I'm supposed to do eye scrubs morning & night followed by hot compresses. All this to just see clearly and comfortably. Boo. I know that if that's my only complaint I am one lucky person. My biggest fear is Alzheimer's. My Mom was afflicted beginning in her late '70's. She was otherwise healthy and active. Took no meds other than a multivitamin. I was her primary caregiver for the 3 yrs. before she passed. It was hell on earth for her in her moments of lucidity to realize she was losing her mind. She'd been a (wonderful) nurse for 40 yrs. and at one time worked with geropsych patients. Toward the end she did not recognize I was there and would cry, pointing to my picture saying, "She never comes anymore". It was heartbreaking. If I let myself dwell on it, I am terrified it might happen to me. So I try to focus on the present and do the best I can to stay mentally & physically healthy.

After Driving 75 Miles I was told "Your appointment was for yesterday". Next appointment was set a whole month later.

Well, I managed to get to the doctor's office at the right time. I had to go upstairs in the building and when I got there I asked if that was the stress test. Those were some steep stairs. Doc said I did really good on the stress test. Now I have to go tomorrow for a mammogram and a CT on my lungs. I told the doctor I was a perfectly healthy person when I walked into his office on Tuesday and now I'm a wreck!

Well, I managed to get to the doctor's office at the right time.

When I arrive too early, if I go away and come back later, I'm almost always late the second time.

Dumbest thing I did was sign in to an appointment w/my ob/gyn under my maiden name. Don't know why, I'd been married a couple years. So after waiting 45 minutes past my appointment time, and watching others who signed in after me go in, I was starting to wonder if I had the wrong day/time. The receptionist said to me "Mrs. L, we have no records for you, but our 10:00 didn't show up so we can squeeze you in to get your records started." There I was, right day/time, wrong name, the Mrs. W who didn't show up for her 10:00. Boy did they laugh at me when I had to explain myself.

I can only say it was a pregnancy moment of temporary memory loss. That, or a Freudian slip. LOL.
