The Kitchen Table

And current pictures of my kids....

Sophie is 7 1/2, Benjamin is 4 1/2 and Oliver is 1 1/2.

Sophie is missing 2 teeth on the bottom now (as you might be able to see in the first picture), and reminds me of Alf. :) That first picture was taken at the zoo a month ago.

In the second picture, Sophie is the one in the middle. That was taken while camping with friends this past weekend, as were the ones of Ben and Oliver.

We homeschool, so their school work is all over the place because they work at their specific level in each subject. Benjamin's officially going into kindergarten and Sophie into grade 3 (that's what they say when asked). Sophie is working on grade 4 Math and has completed grade 4 Language. Other subjects are mixed.

Benjamin's a good solid grade 1 in most areas, but is reading at a much higher level.

So yeah, 3 and K. :)

Early December DS was traded again, silver lining, he was able to come home for a few day and I could take a new family picture for the Christmas cards this was inside, I am the "short" one at 5'9", but the outside shot had better color Pretty proud how they have grown up, very sad since DD is turning 18 next month and graduating this spring from highschool.

I also like the green! I agree with remodelfla that it could be grayer - tie in with the SS and blacks. When I lived in Brookline we did a white kitchen/charcoal counter with a silvery mint green and it was great together. (In the days before digital, I don't have any pics.) Our counters are soapstone - black with hints of green. There will be no walls to paint in the kitchen (cabinets to ceiling, backsplash) but the DR is adjoining - it will have wainscoting to match the cabinets but above it is about 4" of wall to be painted. Now that we have some green in the ocunters we're probably going with a blue-green, probably Stratton Blue or Wythe Blue from BM - maybe check something like that out? Though not sure if that would work with your backsplash...

Does my current siding color go well with my roof color?

It is the material. It isn't used terribly much. It makes me nervous, but my husband is sold and his cousin who has been in the siding/window business for almost 30 years says he thinks it is the best product. It only rusts if it is scratched and you don't seal the scratch. I looked at some rental properties of someone who has the product. The property was 16 years old and looked very new. I did see a few scratches, but even they weren't rusty. Photoshop would be nice! My roof does have some red in it. It is more of a bronze-brown. It is hard for me to work with as I don't see it on many houses, so it's harder for me to picture with different colors. Here is the house in the sun last summer if that makes the roof color more clear. Darn perfectionism....I'm so lenient with the choices of others, but mine have to be perfect...

They're beautiful, Nicole. They all look bright and happy. You can see the age 7-to-8 transition taking place in Sophie.

I'm a big fan of homeschooling--good for you!!

Alisande, I did a lot of babysitting before I had kids and always said I didn't want a 7 year old. All of a sudden they look awkward with their big front teeth (Sophie's top ones haven't fallen out yet) and they turn into little teenagers! Sophie is in a bit of an obnoxious stage now and thinks she knows everything (but isn't mouthy about it). She also wants to be "cool" and would rather be with her friends every waking minute than with her parents (sob!)

It's bittersweet watching them grow up!

Nicole your children are just adorable...Oliver is 1.5. seems like yesterday you were going for your pregnancy check ups...Time flies by.

Thanks for sharing the pictures of your beautiful children, Nicole. They have grown so much since I last saw them. Say "Hi" for me, please ... though they were too young when we met to have remembered me, I'm sure. Sophie has an innovative and independent spirit: I hope that you can help her channel it along useful paths.

Don't you sometimes wonder how you got so LUCKY?! Three beautful kids!

I'm trying to remember at what age children's noses suddenly seem too big for their faces...

Not a fan of middle school ages -- girls are especially b*tchy, clique-y and downright MEAN to one another. Does all this talk of girls maturing earlier mean that starts even sooner now? UGH.
