Lydia, I was hoping someone else would volunteer because I can't be certain I'll remember! Also, how do you find out whose birthday it is?

I just checked and a Heathersinger's birthday is today too.

I saw Heather's birthday was today too, but I always do a search and if the user ID doesn't come up in any posts I don't start a post for that person. If they haven't been here in the past 6 months I figure they won't be checking in any time soon. :) I do also check Joann's site... but there aren't any birthdays listed there for the next few days.

I was thinking the same thing about Heather. I love giving well-wishes to fellow KT'ers but not so much in-the-past members.

I can state with absolute certainty that the KT doesn't post birthday wishes to everyone who has been recently posting. Seems rather elitist and cruel. But, that's just my opinion.

OR are you saying that the KT doesn't post birthday wishes for everyone who does post regularly?

In order to have your birthday be public, the member has to put Kitchen Table as one of their favourite forums in their Member Page. Once it's there, they do get recognized. So if anyone hasn't had birthday wishes expressed, make sure that this is done.

Lydia is very good with her birthday posts, and she's been doing it for a long time.

Lindsey, I check Joann's site daily and I check the KT birthdays daily. If someone hasn't listed the KT as their first or second favorite forum it will not show up. I know there is a glitch where some people's birthdays do not show up on the KT list, I believe Nicole was one. If I've missed someone I am truly sorry. I do NOT pick and choose who to start a post for... if you are on one of the lists and you have made at least one post that shows up in the GW KT search, you'll get a birthday post.

If you'd like the job please let me know and we can arrange it.

The only reason "the KT doesn't post birthday wishes to everyone who has been recently posting." is because they haven't put KT as a favourite forum on their member page. Once that is done, everyone will be recognized.

Gosh, I've never seen the KT post birthday wishes for anyone. I've seen Lydia do it, though, and the occasional other poster, when they know it's someones birthday. I know Nita did it for years, too, and it's a big job and takes up quite a bit of a person's time.

It's quite obviously a thankless job, so let me just say- thank you, Lydia, and thanks to those who fill in for you for when you need help. We DO appreciate you!

I wouldn't think it "cruel" or "elitist" if you don't post next my birthday-I might even think it "kind".

This reminds me of a joke, sort of-

It concerns a group of lumberjacks in the forest. They work long and hard hours and are always hungry, so cooking for them is a big job. One guy has been cooking for a long time and is getting fed up with the others making him work so hard to feed them. Complaints were especially annoying. "The next guy to complain, gets the cooking job!", he declares one night.

Well, this is quite effective, and for a while this shuts everybody up, no more complaints. After a while, he's really sick of it and decides to force the issue. One day, he gathers up some fresh moose turds while working and made it into a pie for dessert. As the lumberjacks are eating, one guy cries out "OMG, this tastes like MOOSE TURD PIE!"

Personally, I wish everyone would post their own "it's my birthday today!" threads, then no one would have to be in charge and spending hours and hours doing this every month/year.
