A friend of mine's daughter is working for his production company. I want the kitchen, the two-story library, the outdoor dining space. and the kitchen garden. And oh, well, I might as well take the rest too. ;-)

It's very under stated. Not gaudy or too glitzy. I like THAT! I'd like to own the two tan wing back chairs. :0)

It's gorgeous and oh, that library! But I have to think living in such a place looks a little lonely--maybe that's just me.

Well, a couple of times we almost gave up and canceled the whole trip, but we really wanted to go!! If I hadn't been able to book that early morning train, we probably would have just given up, but luckily we made it. And yes, I certainly did my bit for the economy! I got a great copper watering can shaped like a beehive, three miniature African violets and one normal size one and pots for all of them, two pots for my orchids, a bamboo windchime, and a stained glass vase as a gift for my SIL who's birthday is next week. I also paid way, WAY too much money for some hand made wooden spoons and spatulas, but I couldn't resist them! Then at the market I got some hand made soaps, beeswax candles, a pair of earrings for my daughter's birthday, candy for everyone back home, and before we left Monday we hit the Amish stalls and I got sticky buns, some noodles and some thick cut bacon. I would have gotten a lot more things but I knew I already had more than I could lift!! The Indian restaurant was called something at the Ben - I have the name at home, but I can't think of it right now. It was a few blocks away from the convention center and actually wasn't in the greatest place for foot traffic. I have had Indian food many times, but haven't actually gone to many Indian restaurants, and the people we were with said it was expensive for Indian food (about $18-$24 for entrees), but they gave you a lot - we really could have split a few of the dishes as we didn't make a dent in some of them. But the food was fantastic and the restaurant itself was lovely. The Vietnamese place was right down the street from us and that food was fantastic as well. I would have liked to try a few more things at the market, but where we lost so much time I only got to eat lunch there once. But we did pick up some stuff to munch on in the hotel room, some wonderful cheeses - my new favorite is St. Andre! - spicy shrimp and a whitefish spread that I wasn't sure I'd like, but it was wonderful. My pants were way tight by the time we left lol!! And my sister now has power and phone lines back altho her fridge and dishwasher apparently got fried when the power came back on so she's none to happy, but hopefully she can get them fixed and not have to buy new! Then there's all those trees to take care of - they had more than 10 come down around their property! Lisa

I should have looked back into the CF posts after I hit Submit. Didn't realize some of you snuck in a few more Posts. That's a good excuse isn't it ??? I didn't see Pinky's, Jim's, Chase's, Karen's, Mustangs, Teresa"s. Did I miss anyone ??? ********************************* Karen : I'm ready for you and Steve. Think I have enough credit on one of my Cards. Next time you make the Sinbuns !!! Jim: I went to the VA Hospital to see an Opthamologist and to get a Prescripition filled. Having a Service Related Disability, entitles me to a lot of benefits, which is a big help, financialy. I also brought with me , a load of Books and items, for the Veterans. I belong to Geisinger Health System also. That's where I had the Surgery done on my left leg; a couple of months ago, for the circulation problem. Have a lot of other perplexing physical problems but I try to put them out of my alleged mind. Like, maybe they will go away. They never do. They can't do nothing for the mental problems. I thought Karen and Steve could help ??? Thanks again everyone, Had a geat time, Saturday,. It's not a dangerous area, its just not the nicest block, and it is surrounded by better. The nuisance factor is higher than most of the neighborhood. I live here Now, around the corner, and own a house two blocks further down and I am describing what happens at night, not during the daytime. My tenant used to do periodic twitters of how many hustlers were congregated across the street from my house when she got home at night. I don't think I am exaggerating, sorry. It is going to be a very rare buyer who has $6M to spend that will want that house when there is so much more to offer for less money. There is a fair amount of Section 8 in the neighborhood, this is Not the same as public housing, it's rental assistance. Most of them are very well maintained, and landlords like it because it is guaranteed income. The initial plan was to start them out as Section 8 and then convert them to conventional rentals but the landlords like the waiting list and not having to get tenants on their own.

Oh, I'm not saying I would live there. :-)

Too formal for me. Plus I'd be tripping over the staff needed to maintain such a place. But I could live in that kitchen. Or the library. And I could definitely entertain in that outdoor dining "room."

BTW, his wife is a psychologist whom he met when they were students at NYU. They have three daughters.

Lovely and very tastefully decorated. I would enjoy living in a house like that, but I wouldn't enjoy managing the interior and exterior maintenance that would keep it in perfect condition.

He used to live around the corner from me. He bought an old home on a lovely street and totally renovated it. It was gorgeous. Unfortunately when he moved to the "farm" pictured here, the next owner of the house near me turned it all glitz and glam. New owner got in trouble with the township for cutting down a huge number of trees.

The Shyamalans are known for being very nice but private people. Thanks for sharing that link, Alisande. I know exactly where it is!

Its beautiful, but based on his movies there's probably some twist. :-) Perhaps there's 15 bedrooms but not a single bathroom.

Dedtired, I'm sorry to hear the owner near you cut down so many trees. I have only two neighbors, my son and "the other guy." The other guy took down most of the trees between us too. Ugh.

I'm not surprised to hear the Shyamalans are very nice and very private. I would imagine it would be hard to be anything but private in their situation.

I heard the house was in Philadelphia, but it looks like it comes with a piece of property.

Susan - he has almost 125 acres just west of Philly in Willistown, PA. It's absolutely gorgeous horse country in Chester County.

A 1937 house...I wonder what rooms went into that nice, big kitchen? I've never seen ceiling plaster work emulate the suggestion of a coffered ceiling (LR). Also never seen 'living buttresses' (hedges).

Beautiful! Almost exactly what I would want if I could have anything I wanted. The library made me drool a little! (just kidding about the drool)

It certainly isn't pretentious. Everything is in very good, understated taste. Definitely would need the staff to go along with it!

That is one gorgeous house!! I especially love how much light comes into all the rooms!! I could live there in a heartbeat if I had the money........... :)

He lives just 5 miles from me. I have been inside his home and the areas I saw are simply exquisite, so tastefully decorated. That custom wood staircase that you can see just a small part of in the picture is grand to say the least. I was in awe of that. The ground are impeccable with so much property - every inch pristine. Yes, they have a staff of groundskeepers and household help.

He films many of his movies in the local towns here so it is fun to see these areas that we are familiar with in his movies.
