Okay! It's getting closer so I'm trying to get a handle on who what when and where!

Edmond, OK: Sunday evening of August 23rd at Moni's house

Houston, TX: Either August 29th Saturday lunch or supper or August 30th Sunday supper

Austin, TX: Lunch or supper on Tuesday September 1st or Wednesday September 2nd.

Somewhere in Iowa (Ames I think) Late lunch on Friday, September 4th.

Whoever wants to come, let me know!

I hope to meet you for lunch in Austin. It will depend on how I feel since it's a 1 1/2 hour drive for me. I would love to meet you.

I too enjoyed our meeting. It was fun and great to see everyone again. I must say, this is a genuine friendly group. I too looking forward to meet next time. I hope we get to do this at least every 6 months or less. Ooops, we forgot to take pictures. We were too busy chatting, eating and laughing :) Next year, we need to drag Ravencajun and her DH to the Rodeo! It's such a big and fun event. Living in Houston, she needs to experience it at least once.

Thanks for the tip about salt pools in Austin. Our neighbor had to convert their salt pool into a chlorine one after 2 years because the corrosion was so bad. I never asked PB about it because I assumed they didn't do it since the brochures I got from the companies talk about some new high tech "ozone" something or another. Good to know I have choices--I will do some homework! Oklahoma flagstone is what I will be using anyway..... This design is Cody and I am 85% sure we will use them. Bayside Pools is coming out tomorrow (this will be the 3rd and last quote I get so if they don't wow me, Cody is the big winner). At this point, it's who will give me the most features for less, as they are all pretty reputable PBs. Anthony & Sylvan was the first PB to come out and quoted me 50k for a basic kidney shape and although it did have a spa and "grotto", it seemed pretty boring for 50k. I wasn't impressed with the high pressure sales tactics either. But 50k is what we expected to spend in Austin so you can imagine the pleasant surprise with this design and quote. Anthony & Sylvan's design wasn't nearly as pretty and this design that Cody came up with is just my style. I really love it. There are a few design things I will tweak, but overall Cody has been great. We had a slight misunderstanding in the beginning that they felt really bad about, so they tell me I am getting many upgrades for my inconvenience. If you compare my two quotes, this seems to be true. For my fellow Austinites looking for a PB, I will post tomorrow after my meeting with Bayside Pools and let you know how it goes. Hope everyone had a great 4th. Been on the lake all day and am beat--would love to jump in a pool at my own house! ;)

OklaMoni: I enjoyed reading your journal. Its too bad you picked up a disentary bug on the last lap, otherwise, It was a great trip. I know I am not good enough shape to entertain a bike trip of a tenth of the distance you have covered on this one. Your trip reminds me of great biking venture I saw while auto touring the west and camping in national parks. While in Bryce Canyon, a group of about 40 people arrived on bicycles. They are biking Utah, except they had it easier than you. This was a commercial adventure tour. Each day, a crew motored ahead of the group, set up camp, and made food arrangements. All the bikers needed to do was pedal their bikes and take pictures. The crew struck camp in the mornings, cleaned up the campsite, and transported sleeping bags, grills, etc. One van, the sag wagon, lagged behind and watched for straglers and flat tires. Oh yes, there was another benefit: The bicycle mechanic had a supply of parts and made repairs. Bike touring does not get better (lazier) than this. They could afford to expend energy partying each evening.

The first two KTer's I met were Pat Lavender and FranCes....and my sister embarrassed me. She insisted on going with me in case one of them was an axe murderer. But now I know Wildchild is really the axe murderer. The only reason I have survived our visits is because I take her to Jocko's for steak. I remember going to a get together at Joni's in Ventura long ago and then a couple of them in Bakersfield I have pictures from a Tehachapi trip. I got rescued by Flamingo from a shopping mall in Branson...I think it was Branson. It is really great meeting KTers and hope anyone who travels on the central coast of California will contact me.

Toni, I hope you can join us in Ames. I am thinking Hickory Park restaurant would be a good place for us to eat. It has easy access to Hwy 30 and I-35 and serves food all day long. It is famous all over Iowa. If you e-mail me through this site, I will send you my phone number.

Maryann, where do you live? I'm driving from Houston to Austin on the 31st, via Luling so I can get come of that good BBQ at the City Market for lunch. Happy Go Lucky Gayle also wants to meet either in Houston or Austin. Is Luling close to you?

City Market is usually a busy place, so it might be a good idea to get there before the noon rush. I will be there whenever you say. I am so excited that we are going to get together and Gayle too!

Well the only place i nkow I am close to is houston and no way can I drive in that traffic....so everyone have a super time remember your cameras and your manners! LOL Stacy

Terilyn, everyone in the Houston area are actually driving to Luling for BBQ at the City Market. Would you be able to do that? We are meeting at about 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 31st.
