Puffiness Under Eyes ...Remedy ????

I have tried some of the commercial eye creams etc. that say they will help to reduce " puffiness " under they eyes and thus far I have to say...NO they do not work.

So now I come to the table...with the hope... that somebody has a special little" trick "that will help in reducing this most annoying little problem.

Life is good if this is what I have to "Kvetch" about right? LOL

whispering... I hear... prep H works. I'm afraid to try it, but it makes sense. If it reduces swelling in one part of the body, why not another? I'd have to find a really pretty container to put it in though, just to disguise it (from myself!). I've also heard a cold spoon, cucumber, green tea ice cubes...and last:

Remedy for Dark Circles or Puffiness Under Eyes
The following list of ingredients to reduce bags or bruising under the eyes are cheap and easy to find at your local drug store or online.

-Empty 4oz bottle with lid
-100% pure chamomile essential oil
-Witch hazel
-Cotton balls or cotton cosmetic pads

Mix together in the empty bottle 4oz of witch hazel and four drops of chamomile essential oil. Put the lid on the bottle and shake well. Store in the refrigerator until needed.

To use the homemade solution, dampen two cotton balls or cotton cosmetic pads with the cool witch hazel and chamomile liquid. Lay down and place one cotton ball over each closed eye. Be sure to lay your head on a pillow to help raise your head above heart level since this also helps to reduce swelling under the eyes.

Rest for five minutes or so while the puffy eye treatment takes effect. Avoid opening your eyes with the compresses on since the mixture will sting. Once the dampened cotton balls are removed, let your skin dry before opening your eyes. This mixture can be used as needed, or even on a daily basis.

Caffeinated tea bags. You can make tea first and use, or just use out of the package. Put in ice water until they are well saturated, lie down and place on eyes. Keep on for about 10 mins. This will reduce bags and puffiness a lot, also slightly improves dark circles.

Something that helps me a lot with dark areas under my eyes (and sunken in eyes) is white mulberries (the actual berries—not the leaves, although I'm not sure whether or not the leaves help there, too). I have a lot of other issues that eating white mulberries alleviate, too (chronic constipation, depression, involuntary movements, auras, etc.; they strengthen my immune system, and I only get sick maybe once or twice a year, now, instead of every other month, and when I do get sick, it doesn't last as long; I should note that although it alleviates constipation, it doesn't give me anything like diarrhea if I eat too many; the berries seem to have an antimicrobial effect, and they make my lungs feel good right after I eat them when I breathe in). If I stop eating them, the issues come back, though, but it's pretty miraculous how they make them go away. I only need to eat a few berries a day. I think a few in the morning and a few at night works best (you don't need to eat loads of them). I didn't need to eat hardly any at all when I first started taking them, though (1-3 berries a day; I don't need many more than that now, but I usually eat at least 4 twice a day, although usually more than that: they do taste pretty good). Be consistent with when you take them. They sell them at The Grocery Outlet here locally (but nuts.com also sells them). When I first started taking them, if I ate too many (then too many wasn't very many), it would make me more depressed instead of less depressed (but I don't notice that happening so much anymore if I eat lots of them). So, dosage may matter. Does he have any other issues? Does he have light sensitivity (to indoor light), by chance? I do (especially to fluorescent light), and I think it's related, for me. Using computers a lot, I think, can make dark areas under the eyes worse. If you take vitamin D3 (at least 400iu a day), that should lessen the light sensitivity considerably.

I have used Clinique 'repairwear' eye cream for about 18 years. I use it in the morning and at night I can not live without it. Nothing makes wrinkles go away but you need to moisturize, it just makes the wrinkles look softer not so deep. I have very sensitive skin and this is the only eye cream that does not bother me, Clinique has two creams the other makes my eyes puff up. I think the skin around your eyes is more sensitive than the face so you need a cream made for the eyes lots of companies make them.

Schoolhouse it may be something else. However, I had a tiny little spot on my upper arm in my 30's and my then dermatologist said it's nothing, don't worry about it and refused to remove it. Well after two years I finally went to see another dermatologist who said the same thing, but also said if it bothers you let's take it off. She did and sent it to the lab. Well it was Basal Cell Carcinoma, an atypical presentation. She explained that Basal Cell is really not dangerous, but more like a warning sign that I need to have a skin check every year and use lots of sun protection. That is why I would never except a wait of several months before a doctor examines any change in my skin that I did not recognize. I know a seborrheic keratoses when I see one. They come in many different colors, sizes, and textures, yet are all very similar.

The results are in.... I used the under eye patches this morning and I have a mixed review. Alright, my under eye bags are exactly the same as they were pre-patches. So that is a disappointment. I have allergies and a string of autoimmune challenges, so I guess my eye bags are not going to budge. Not for these patches and certainly not for the various eye creams I've tried over the years. These are my bags it appears and I'd better learn to wear them proudly. On to the good part...the crows feet filled in so well it's amazing. The crinkly skin under the eyes also 'ironed' out. Bags are there, but crinkles smoothed over. I give these patches a thumbs up just for that. I'm going to try using a patch upside down on my upper lip, maybe tomorrow and see if it can fill in the lines from talking, eating, drinking and being alive that one gets there. That would be great if it did! On to the elevens some of us get between the brows, I think that if you cut a patch and stick it there, it might help with that if the grooves are not too deep (If cutting the patch doesn't ruin it of course). My elevens come and go--it all depends on how much the people in my life are pushing their limits with me. The more they misbehave consistently, I get elevens. If everyone is behaving themselves, my elevens fade down. The patches were comfortable to wear and did not irritate my cranky eyes anymore then they already are. I suspect it's not adhesive that keeps them in place because even band-aids give me a month long instant rash. I think it's the serum the patches are bathed in and the consistency of the patches themselves. Seems they will stick to just about anything due to that. There you go. I would use them again, but with expectations that my bags will not change for the better.

have you tried the Clinique all about eyes (i think it's called that) for puffiness? i got some as a sample and while I don't have much puffiness i did notice a difference & a co-worker commented on it too. it has a metal roller ball applicator. ~ liz

I've heard cold cucumber slices over the eyes. I like the teabag suggestion.

Robb: I also heard that about Prep H. I think I read in Allure magazine or somesuch that fashion models use it.

I had to look it up. Below are reviews by real people for the exact reason I suggest. Some give it 5 stars, some 1 stars. I'm not more convinced to try it, but at least I'm not crazy (it does happen)! I'm still not brave enough. I do run an ice cube on my closed eye(s) (only for seconds) when it is ultra red or my contact has balked for some reason. That really does help get rid of the irritation and redness. So I can see cold helping eyes, either with rollers or just a cube.

Do you know the cause of the puffiness? Perhaps allergies that you are not even aware that you have. I know when I stay anywhere overnight and there are flowers in the house, mold even if it cannot be seen, or Eucalyptus real or dried I have very puffy eyes, and as I get older there seems to be more things that trigger the symptoms. Antihistamines have helped and I keep a supply on hand year round.
