The stem cell transplant is on. A little disappointing news the tumor size is basically the same, I was hoping it would be smaller. He said the transplant will give me a few more years.
But it's okay to do the transplant! Hopefully they get the approval from the insurance company within the next day or two so we can keep the schedule. They can't send the request for approval until all the results of the tests are done.

Brutuses, I remember "talking" to you when we were building. I think you said your husband is building after regular work hours right? That's why it's taking so long. We bought 4 years ago this June and that didn't including a year long escrow (the guy we bought it from kept pulling it back). Anyway, we have some wonderful "neighbors" who are building next door (he is) who bought their lot about the same time we finally closed our escrow. They're building an 8400 sq ft home on a mountain side (10 acres) and as of now they haven't even done footings. Most of the time has been spent on grading, moving oak trees ( protected by law where we live) and building a retaining wall... but not just any retaining wall...the mother of ALL retaining walls. Beautifully done. They planted rosemary to drape over the top of it...the rosemary is established already, that's how long it's been there. The husband teases that they're really not neighbors yet but I told him yes they are, b/c he's there every day come rain or shine...he just doesn't sleep there yet. Anyway, if you ever get down about the time yours is taking just think about this couple....... should pick you right back up.

I joined the group PSP lost and found group that lets you inquire and find out about groups that have been deleted or closed. Kat the transplant news is wonderful.Now the insurance companies have to approve , is there a time frame for all this to happen?

Great news Kat. At least the tumour didn't grow! Wishing you well with the transplant, a few more years is good, that gives them more time to find something else to work.

I was really hoping it would all be gone , The doc kept saying that the transplant should give me a few more years. a few more years? I was hoping for WAY more than a FEW more years! Oh well, one day at a time I guess! lol . this cancer is stubborn!

The doctor said that the insurance company has 5 days to do approvals. They have been paying for things on the way to the transplant, so I am pretty sure they will approve the procedure.

I have a blood clot around the port, which I guess is quite common. So I have to give my self two shots a day of a blood thinner. I had my debit card out to pay the copay, then I saw the balance and had to change it to my charge card! OUCH... lets just say I'm gong to voluntarily give my state a dollar or two when I go buy a lottery ticket! LOL
wish me luck! LOL

the caregiver situation is still stressing me out. I have to live in Seattle for a while and need someone to live with me. DH is 100% commission and gets no help from the bosses at work. He will be with me for a week or so and weekends, DS just had a job interview yesterday, but that doesn't mean he got the job (but who wouldn't hire such a cute guy!? lol) And the social worker has a list of agencies where you can hire a babysitter, but said most people can't afford that as they are very expensive. But I'm sure we will get it all worked out.

sorry for the TMI! LOL... just stressing..

I'm sorry you are stressing about the care, Kat. I think that is one of the toughest things in our society these days: when a person in hurt, injured or elderly it is soooooo expensive to get help. (Any thoughts to contacting a church or college to find someone willing to stay for less? With a good google check, of course.) I wish I could stay with you. And I'm sorry that ol' tumor didn't disappear, but you just never know about new chemos, etc. Very glad to hear the transplant will happen! We'll keep praying for you. Hang in there!

Great news about the transplant. I'm sorry the tumor hadn't shrunk, but who knows what miracles the scientists may come up with in a few years. Keep your sweet little chin up. Lots of people praying and giving their best thoughts for you.

Ah, Kat, wish I could be there to give you a hug and help out. I was born in Seattle and have family there so it would be nice to go back for a while but I can't get away from work. Hope you find someone to help out.

Just keep saying to yourself ... and this too shall pass. It has gotten me though many trying times.
