NO, but my cousin and I are going in together to get it done this fall! We both agreed years ago we would wait and do it together,it finally is medically needed. Her Mom had it done, it wasn't too much of a recovery at all.

Socks,my sister, who is 79 had both of these procedures done about a year ago. It all went smoother than she thought it would. Of course she was black and blue from eyebrows to mid nose level. Looked like she was wearing a "Lone Ranger" mask. It took about 3 weeks for the discoloration to clear completely. Swelling around the eye sockets was pronounced, but all was back to normal in less than a week. Itching in the healing incisions was minor. Pain was less than expected and controlled with rx pain meds for the first 24 hours. Tearing or watering of her eyes causing blurred vision was the most difficulty for the first 2 or 3 days. Nan had no one stay with her, but she lives in a seniors apt. building where she had lots of neighbors checking on her hourly. She says that this surgery was easier than the cataract surgeries. It was well worth the minor inconvience she says. She can't believe how much she was missing with those droopy eye lids.

I had it done soon after my cataract surgery, because the eyelids were cutting out 50% of my vision. I will reiterate what ganzia said, almost word-for-word!

No, but I need it! Neighbor had it done in the doctor's office. Sure helped the drooping and sight but she somehow tore the stitches open on one eye after she got home (her DH was out of town so we drove her) and we had to drive her back (110 mile round trip) that same day. After that she had no problem at all.

I'd really like the bags UNDER my eyes fixeed at the same time, but Medicare doesn't cover that to my knowledge.

My ex-husband had it a few years ago. He looked awful (black and blue with stitches) for a week or two, but it healed up nicely with minor inconveniences and within a few months you couldn't see any sign of scarring and it looked natural, minus the droopy skin.

I NEED to get this done, but the cost is my concern. Do most insurance companies cover this? Seems like someone told me that most of them would if the drooping eyelids were interfering with your vision but I don't know. I think I might be able to do it if they'll pay at least part of it.

I don't know whether my ex-husband's eyelids were actually interfering with sight or not but that's what the doctor reported and the insurance company did cover it.

My father had it done last year, it was covered by insurance. His doctor suggested it because it was interfering with his vision. He had bruises and visible stiches, but it healed quickly. It was done outpatient and he didn't need any help at home.

DH needs it done but so far says he will wait until his vision is so bad he can't pass the eye test at the DMV.

I had an upper and lower bleph done this past December. Upper lids were touching my eyelashes and I flunked the field vision test, so insurance covered the upper lids. Annoying part was for a few days after, there was tape on my upper lids and it drove me nuts. lol Took a pain pill the first day, but then nothing after that. All healed now though without any problems. Lids are now about 1/4 inch from lashes. Lowers look better too - I never realized they were so puffy! If I had the money, I would've had a brow lift though - you get a much better result.

My understamding is that insurance will pay for it if there's a medical reason. My cousin's husband had it done because his lower eyelids were drooping and he had trouble reading.
