Dinner--a multi vitamin, C and Glucosamine and Condroitin
before bed--a statin for high cholesterol and a different allergy med.

Unfortunately I have had to join the pill a day club last month. One Synthroid tablet every morning. Hope that's it for another ten years or so. Up until now I've avoided all pills except for a couple of calcium chews.

I take a BP pill every day...and celebrix since my hystro...and thought I didn't need it anymore...but I am hateful and weepy since I stopped so will get it refilled monday...and started on Nexium 2 wks ago again....other then that I started taking some vitimans for menopause or pre or post or during LOL menopause but don't take it regular.....Stacy

I take one blood pressure pill and a baby aspirin every day. I tried a statin for a month and had dreadful pain, so quit that.

Wanted to add to my reply. I do not take vitamins. My doctor said it may do good in one place, but bad in another. There was also an article in our local newspaper that said studies show they do no good at all, children don't need them.

Right now I'm taking mega doses of Calcium and Rx Vitamin D to try and convince my body to start producing Calcium after my thryroidectomy. Also taking Synthroid, of course. But you can't take one within 4 hours of the other, and I'm on Calcium 3x a day. If I don't take the Synthroid by 6AM, I'm off schedule the rest of the day. Hate that. I was taking Januvia but since the thyroid surgery, my BS has been normal and I don't have to take it anymore. So someone tell my body to stop craving sugar, please! Before the surgery I was taking fluid meds too. Once day I counted and said, Oh no - gotta stop this treadmill. To many meds. Don't want to be like my Dad and SM - so many that you need a computer to tell you when/what to take.

I take a med for hypothyroidism (Cytomel) and one for adrenal problems. I also take monthly B12 injections and vit D capsules daily (both were low when tested), as well as Vit. C, a B complex, magnesium, potassium and calcium. Plus Progesterone cream.

Just vitamins, no prescription meds. Well, take that back I'm still on an antibiotic for a tick bite, and have one week to go.

Dr. wanted me to go on B/P meds for an elevated B/P but I refused. They need to teach their employees how to take a proper blood pressure
The proper way to take a blood pressure as I understand the concept is:
-Before the test, sit for five minutes with your back supported and your feet flat on the ground.

-Rest your arm on a table at the level of your heart.
Wear short sleeves so your arm is exposed. ...

Get two readings, taken at least two minutes apart, and average the results.

I told the Dr. that being in pain with a broken toe, and sitting on the exam table with my feet dangling and no back support could not possibly get an accurate reading! No thank you, no meds. I do monitor my B/P at home and sometimes it's a little high and other times okay. No way was I going on meds with huge side effects due to one or two readings done in their office and not done properly.

She kept preaching to me how dangerous it is, and I informed her that I know all about that, being in the medical field for over 50 years and a RN for 30 years. I've always had my patients sit in a chair with feet on floor. Many would sit and cross their legs and be surprised when I would tell them not to cross their legs and put feet flat on floor.

So how do they take your blood pressure when you go to the DR?

Before bed, I take a multivitamin that has probiotics and green food plus minerals and vitamins...plus a salmon oil capsule. (sometimes the salmon 2x a day)...

When I remember to take them I take a multivitamin, G/C/M, and a calcium. I can feel it after a few days when I miss them.

Donna I so agree with you on the blood pressure thing. I get so angry that the nurses try to take my BP while I'm in pain, sitting on the edge of the table with my feet dangling (I'm short), and chatting me up while they do it. Fortunately my normal BP has always been in the low range so even when it's up it is still not considered high.

I did hit 140 once when I was fighting off an infection AND had a scary pain in my calf I feared might be a clot. Two weeks later I went in for a recheck and the nurse (different one) commented that he saw I was "taking my blood pressure meds" because my BP was so low. I told him I wasn't on meds and never was...it was just that he took it while I was in a chair,didn't talk and I was over my infection. LOL

Now they are taking BP each time you visit the dentist. Most fumble around and haven't a clue. Only one (new girl) actually made sure to remind me to uncross my feet and think good thoughts. :-)

Just vitamins... multi, fish oil, B complex, B12, vitamin D and calcium at bedtime.. sometimes I take others but for the most part this is what I take everyday.

I take Armour Thyroid, Pravastatin (cholesteral was 330), Calcium & Magnesium with vitamin D, Adrenal Cortex, Kelp, 5-HTP (Serotonin and L-tryptophan), and Melatonin when I travel abroad.

daily I start out my morning with a calcium with D, and a glucosamine and controiton. At noon I take a glucosamine and controiton, and a multi vitamin. with dinner I take the third glucosamine and controiton, and in the winter I add a C there.

At bed time I take a simvastatin for high cholesterol, and once a month I take a boniva cause of brittle bones.

Once a week I get two shots for allergy problems, and during the allergy seasons I add more drugs.

Medications, yes.
Supplements - no.

Yes, too many!

DH and I take a multivitamin daily. I use Advair (for asthma) and Nasocort AQ (sinus) twice a day. DH has a minimum dose statin for cholesterol -- though I think he should try three months without that and see because his count is so borderline.

My MD has me trying FE-Slow Release (iron) after a low iron count on a blood test. I was also losing more hair than usual, but that could have been due to my 102F fever during pneumonia in Feb.

I don't *know* that the multivitamins are necessary. Years ago an article in The Lancet (GB's medical journal) said that Americans have the most expensive urine in the world! LOL However, FWIW, I didn't pack any vitamins this year when we went to Hawaii for five weeks, and we both got respiratory illnesses. Probably a coincidence.

The orthopod who replaced my hips said there was no medical evidence that glucosamine (with or without condroitin) had any effect on joints.
