2 1/2 Men

For some reason we haven't been watching the current season of 2 1/2 Men. Must be something else on that we watch, cause we love the show.

Tonite we're watching it, and Allan mentioned that Judith and Herb broke up. We were quite surprised to hear this. What happened? Are there any Men fans here?

I love this show...we even watch the reruns.

Judith and herb broke up for a very, very short time. They got back together and had a baby at the end of this season.

Preschool at 2 1/2 or 3 1/2?

Hi - don't know if the question is still open or not, but here's my .02: We are in an area that sounds similar to yours. It's basically a commuter suburb with most everyone working in NYC. Extremely competitive, particularly with regard to schools. My older son is in a Montessori preschool that we had to apply to well over a year in advance. The private school he'll be starting in 2004 (he's spending his K year in Montessori), we needed to apply to in Jan. of this year. Because the Montessori doesn't start until the kids are 3 (they must be 3 by Dec. 31), I had my older son go to a 2's program at a local temple. It was 3 days a week, 3 hours a day. My younger son will start that same 2s program this fall, but I was definitely vascillating and will probably only send him 2 days instead of 3. It's a nice program, but like most 2's programs, is basically enriched day care. We could have done without it, but there were a few reasons that I liked it. He DID learn quite a bit, especially religious stuff, which is where I tend to be a bit lax. He got used to being around, and listening to adults other than me, it reinforced many things taught at home but not often practiced like sharing, turns, being kind to others, proper manners, etc. And most importantly - it gave me a 3 hour break three days a week. Besides my work, I was able to read, shop, visit with friends and work out entirely unencumbered by my kid. I found that after a few hours without him, not only did I miss him, but I really wanted to spend time talking to him about his day and what he learned. I think the time off made me a better mommy. Whatever you decide, you'll be fine. AM

Ashton Kutcher......Yay or Nay?
Q
Comments (13)
I just posted in the other thread. I liked Kutcher in Dude, Where's My Car but this is going to be hard-pressed to survive if they have to convert the base fans of this show. Very poorly written, not really funny. The funniest cast members were pretty much cast aside. It has a long way to go. But then again, look at some of the other shows that are on too. Maybe it will survive. AFAIC, they should have given the part to Rob Lowe. He's as hated by about the same crowd who hates Charlie Sheen. His reputation is about the same. He could have even replaced the character or blended in far better than Ashton Kutcher. Given the controversies started before it was even on the air with the others complaining about the treatment of Kutcher, it could be a limited life show, although I doubt Lorre would pack it up without a fight. Charlie Sheen would get too much satisfaction out of it! LOL To answer your question, nay way to Ashton.

2x8 runner or 3 1/2 x 5 1/2

I think I would do a small 2x3 at the door. I wouldn't do a runner in the hallway, but there's nothing wrong with doing one. I wouldn't have it be "matchy-matchy with the rug at the door, though. The rug at the door can be more "practical" (as in easy to clean) than the runner. Of course, I assume that you have a mat outside too.

What little I did see of it I thought it was a most vulgar show and it is off my viewing list

I think this show is hysterical! There is such good chemistry between all of the characters (Charlie, Alan, Jake, Berta, Judith, Evelyn, and Rose) that I think that is what makes the show so funny.

We love the show. Had never seen it until a few years ago when a long time friend told me he co-wrote the theme song. Been hooked ever since.

My very favorite episode is "Squab, squab, squab, squab, squab". It was on again last week, and I howled as much as I did the first time I saw it...and the second.
Jake stays overnight at Grandma's and it is a great bunch of physical comedy!

I'm a Men fan too...and especially love Berta's dry sense of humor. hmmm...I thought the season ended a while back and I've not caught it at all since it is light out later and the time change. I'm sure to catch the missed ones as reruns though.

Berta is my favorite, too.

IMO, so many things that are said out loud on this show are things that we think, but just don't dare to say out loud.

I love the show too and I also like the dry sense of Berta's humour. LOL I also like that the show has shifted somewhat away from Charlie's antics.

One of my favourite episodes was when their satellite went out and Alan said he would go up on the roof to fix it. He fell off the ladder. He was in so much pain and nobody was helping him. Well Charlie did in the bathroom with the kitchen tongs. LOLOL Alan kept falling and I thought I would die from laughing. LOL

(I wish I'd thought of posting that!....LOL)

I've forgotten what the squab episode was about.
Someone remind me. Please?

There's so many episodes I love!
Like when Berta is fed up behind Jake and makes him scrub the toilet every time he uses it.

Good show...

In the squab episode, Jake was bribed to spend the night with his grandmother (love that character, too). He wanted pizza or something, but she served him squab. He kept saying squaaaab in a disgusted voice, and the song at the end went something like *men men men men manly men men men squaaaaaaab*

This is another show I never watched until it went into syndication. I really enjoy it. I seldom see it during prime time, not sure what I usually watch. Although I don't watch all that much during prime time.

Another one I learned to appreciate was Everybody Loves Raymond. Although I dislike Ray Romano, the rest of the cast makes up for it.

There's a lot of shows I didn't watch until sydies. And I guess vulgar is in the mind of the beholder. I think it's hilarious. And there's a lot of things this beholder would call vulgar far before these comedies!

I assume Ryan Stiles is "Herb"? He's a great comedian. I guess I haven't paid enough attention to know all the characters' names but I still really enjoy the humor. There's a lot of "wish I would have said that" type of lines in the show. When the kid asks Berta if she wants to see his armpit hair and she replies only if you want to see mine!

DH's favorite. My stepdaughters wanted to know what to get him for Father's Day. I said "Season 1 and 2 of 2 1/2 Men". He was absolutely thrilled! I enjoy watching it just to experience him LOL!!!!
