Kasey took the second step!!!

She went and filed a restraining and protective order today! I am sooo proud of her...she sounds wonderful and like she used to...she still of course has hard days and nights but she keeps saying she is moving forward for her and the babies!!! Thank you Jesus!!!!! And of course my family and friends...I think my sissy and her hubby are driving in tonight from texas they want to spend sunday with her and the babies! My parents went and visited last wk...and my sil and brother went and got her and the kids last sunday and took them to their house for a cookout swim party the kids got to play pool and play the wii and had a super fablous time....Please God keep giving her strength!!! Thanks Jamie....I am sooo praying....My sister and her husband just called and are thinking of driving to Ok. (8 hrs) so they can spend the day Sunday with them! She has soo much love and support that I know he told her we didn't care and my family is going above and beyond to prove we have always cared loved her and never judged her!

Yes - you're right. When you pull off the grid, you first use up your credits. Then you either buy additional power from the electric company. Or, if you generate more power than you use, you get paid for the excess by the electric company. I'd have to check my notes - I think it may be annually. If you think about it - the days are longer in summer, so you will generate more power. Days are shorter in winter, you generate less power. So you most likely will pull more power off the grid in winter, pull less power in summer. So things would even out over a year. The SRECs are completely different. And I still don't have my head completely wrapped around them. They are Solar Renewable Energy Credits. The utility companies are required by law to generate a certain portion of their electricity by solar. They buy these SRECs to comply with this requirement. If they don't have enough SRECs they are fined. From srectrade.com In SREC states, the Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS) requires electricity suppliers to secure a portion of their electricity from solar generators. The SREC program provides a means for Solar Renewable Energy Certificates (SRECs) to be created for every megawatt-hour of solar electricity created. 1 SREC = 1,000 kWh of solar electricity = 1 MWh of solar electricity 10 kW solar capacity = ~12 SRECs per year The SREC is sold separately from the electricity and represents the "solar" aspect of the electricity that was produced. The value of an SREC is determined by the market subject to supply and demand constraints. SRECs can be sold to electricity suppliers needing to meet their solar RPS requirement. The market is typically capped by a fine or solar alternative compliance payment (SACP) paid by any electricity suppliers for every SREC they fall short of the requirement. The sale of SRECs is intended to promote the growth of distributed solar by shortening the time it takes to earn a return on the investment. Once the installation of a solar system is complete, the system must then be certified by the state(s) in which it is eligible to sell SRECs and then must create an account with the tracking platform used by that state. Once registered, every month, the tracking platform will issue SRECs based on the generation of your system. In some states, estimated generation is used for systems under 10kW, while all other systems are required to submit generation on a monthly basis. One SREC is created for every 1000kWh of electricity created. For example, a 10kW system can generate approximately 1 SREC per month. However, it is up to the solar installation owner to decide how to manage the SRECs that are produced. Some states will certify solar electric systems from out-of-state and allow the SRECs from those facilities to count towards the RPS. Hi Kasey and ChloeMichelle. I'm glad you both wrote in. It helps to hear others thoughts. I have a 'grown' stepdaughter as well. She's 25 and has a 7 yr old son and a 19 month old daughter by 2 dif. dads. She's not married but living with the father of the 2nd child. The 1st child's father beat her and she never filed a report so she doesn't want to fight for child support b/c he might want to get custody and she doesn't want to chance that. She's just like her mother - - - very rude, abrupt, unfriendly, hateful, etc. The guy she's with now is totally supporting her and both kids. she stays home. She's tried school about 4 dif. times now and has decided not to go back this year. As far as I hear from my grandson, she doesn't cook much, I know she doesn't clean much. If this guy dumps her she has no way to support both kids on her own. My grandson has come to visit and told us he knows what 'the weed' is, that he can smoke when he's an adult. His mother even told us she took him to get his hair cut in a mohawk (he wanted one b/c his uncle's got one) and he 'chickened out'. A mohawk on a 7 hr old - yep, that'll get him in the right group of friends. :( I'm with Chloemichelle - what do I think I can do about it? Not a thing. I'm with you Kasey on the fact that it is as frustrating as anything I've ever dealt with before. I didn't have kids of my own. I want so much to have a positive effect on the grandkids AND the stepkids (I also have a 21 yr old stepson that has caused some issues but not near as many as the 25 yr old!). I keep telling myself to be here for the grandkids and show them a different side and then hope and pray that they turn out differently. I can't keep my husband from spending time with the kids but it is so unpleasant sometimes b/c they don't really talk to me or act like I'm not there. I put up with it b/c I want to spend time with the grandkids. I've been married to him for 10 yrs so I'm somewhere in the middle of where it sounds like you guys are. I don't THINK I have the drug issue to deal with and am very thankful. Keep your chin up and be as positive an influence as is possible for your grandkids. We're the ones that maybe can make all the difference.

The only life those kids have ever known is now totally different. It will be an adjustment for them. It won't be long before they sense the calm around them and see a big difference in their mommy. All you can do Stacy is encourage her that she is doing the right thing and support her...the rest is up to her. God Bless her for taking this first step. Remind her how much strength that took.

Thanks everyone! I decided to go with the Gastric Bypass instead of the band.From what I've been told(at the DR's) more people have trouble with the band...there are more restrictions with it and also it's a slower weight loss. The bypass is a longer hospital stay....maybe 2 nights where the band is one night but from what i've heard and read,the bypass is the best way.I just want to get it done and get this fat off.Maybe I can even swim in public next summer! I told our friends last night that i'm going to dance on the bar after i lose weight! LOL! they said they'll help get up on it!! LOL!

Thanks guys! Yes I saw her the weekend she went to the safe home...and then I will see her this wkend....we talk 2 times a day and that is great!!! I just talked to my sister again and they are going to wait til the next time we go home so they can plan better and they said they want to do something special for the kids and get Gabe and Levi some school stuff...I have the best family and friends!!! Blessed I am!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That was a HUGE step for her Stacy. Once she sees the change in herself and the children she will realize how much better off they all are.
I think she knows in her heart that her family cares and loves her. She has just been beaten down, verbally and physically, for so long that it must be hard for her to even imagine anything good in her life.
Bless her heart for making such a tough decision.

Thanks Jenni I am sooo proud of her can't wait to see her and the babies this wkend....I am taking pics this time....!!!!! Yes he has done both to her and she is just now starting to feel good about herself a little bit..she had arough wk her dads mom passed and he came and took her to the funeral...but she is really looking forward!

I'm so happy to see this! I was just thinking about her today and wondering how she was doing. If I'm recalling correctly, she has NEVER gone this far before! I am feeling very good about this now! :) Hooooray!!

It's good to read of Kasey moving in this direction. I am sure it's very difficult for her, having lived under his thumb for so many years. I sincerely hope she is able to see it thru to the best end & that he recognizes they need separate lives. Sounds like she has lots of support from her/your family.
