I took DSs fiancee for her wedding dress fitting today. Then after we had lunch in the harbor with DH and DS, she and I went over to buy his wedding ring. Tomorrow he will buy hers. They want to surprise each other, though they shopped together to make their choices a few months ago.

Well, we don't really need another person to say how stupid this is, but here I am anyway! It's not only stupid, but it is irresponsible. Dragging a baby across the floor. Really. Even if the floor is vacuumed, it's filthy with people walking in from the street where dogs' you-know, people spit, dusty, bird droppings, etc. Also, if someone mis-steps, stumbles, the baby could be crushed. It's reckless behavior from that "mom."

I don't have a problem with the bride trying to generally set a tone for the wedding...especially these days when weddings can vary so much, I think it helps the guests understand what to expect. (My yoga teacher's daughter got married last week in a national park and the formal wedding pics were being taken in the middle of a river!) But I would have a problem if she told us all to dress as Dr. Seuss characters or some such thing.

I have 2 DS's and my only regret is that I will never be the mother of the bride. I hope that when my sons get married that I too will be invited by their fiances to be a part of the dress ceremony . To me, choosing a dress becomes a ceremony of looking and discussing and trying on and fittings etc.

She had shopped with a friend in Chicago and had a different idea of what she wanted then but didn't fall in love with anything. Then she shopped in small shop(s) in Montana with her mom and could not find anything. I had been telling her about the large selection at the shop where DD had been so successful. So we went when she and DS were here for Thanksgiving, and she fell in love with the first dress she tried on.

Her mom is in Montana and couldn't be here for the dress shopping. So I wanted to make up for that as best I could. We had a champagne lunch as part of that shopping trip. Then today we had lunch at El Torito in the harbor with cocktails. She had a raspberry margarita, I had my favorite Mojito, DH had wine and DS had a special margarita.
