I'm SO BUMMED!

I didn't get the job in High School Relations. I went in thinking "okay..I am not the only one applying so I will do my best."

I did my best but I guess it just wasn't meant to be. Things happen for a reason....just a little down at the moment.

thank you all for the good luck wishes but you can uncross your fingers and toes. At least until the next job opening happens which i will apply for. with each one I learn from it.

Guess there are 4 other people out there who are as bummed as I am at the moment.

I was thinking about rooting them - thanks! I'm most worried about the remaining plant though. When the shoot was broken off, it tore a bit of the main stem, and I'm concerned that disease could set up in there. Would that be possible? Any precautions I could take?

Kath, since that doesn't seem like it will work out and you need a change in climate, you may want to look at Florida. We have a small VA clinic here in Ocala and a very large VA hospital in Gainesville just 40 miles north which is associated with Shands hospital--a very large hospital affiliated with UF and their excellent medical school. Right now, Ocala is a very, very inexpensive place to live. We were hit hard by the recession, but harder yet by one of the largest companies in town going under (the head of that mortgage company is now spending probably the rest of his life in a federal prision). So, housing is really affordable. The town itself has only about 45,000 people, give or take a few. We have all the shopping, restaurants, etc., of larger cities. Traffic drives me nuts sometimes, though.We also have a small 4-year college here. And we're about 1-1/2 hours to Daytona and 90 minutes to Orlando. You would feel at home here--lots of horse farms and ranches with rolling hills. We lived in Gainesville for a year and loved it. Wish we hadn't moved, but it's more expensive there than here. Thank you all. I have a layout thread already so I didn't want to post again. I will link it here. Since I'm pretty much stuck with the u shape with island base cabinet sitting where it is now, I'm thinking my best bet is to expand into dining room and use the floor I have to fill in the 2 or so feet we are expanding on the island seating side. I'll have a 15 or 18 inch overhang to get my island to 42 or 48 inches. Other option is simply use tile which I would rather not do. I think it's too much hassle just to get a couple more inches on the sink to island aisle. http://ths.gardenweb.com/discussions/3873166/3-layout-options-need-thoughts-please?n=22 The entire first floor except bathroom and bedroom have the wood floor.

I'm sorry you didn't get it as well. But I think things tend to happen for a reason. There is something better out there for you. Hang in there. The right one will come along.

One of the questions they asked was if I had any experience with Grant writing. I was honest and said No. Grant Writing is something you can't fake or fib about.

The person who got the job had some experience.

But I am keeping my chin up....:)

So sorry to hear about that. It is really disappointing when that happens. I have interviewed for a few jobs in my company over the years. It took a couple of years but I finally got the job I wanted. It ended up working out better for me in the end.

So when you interviewed, did you interview with a panel? If so, maybe you could pull one of them aside and find out if you did something they didn't like in the interview. I did that when I was turned down and I'm glad I asked. I hadn't really done anything wrong, I just didn't "wow" them. I got some great pointers from the person I asked. Also the next time I interviewed, this person was on the panel again. I got the job that time, finally.

Don't give up. You will get something eventually.

It's also possible they don't want to lose your skills in the position you have now!

I like scissors' idea about requesting a little 'mentoring feedback' from your interviewers. Doesn't hurt to ask.
