Lorna, I plant flowers the hummingbirds like on purpose when I see on the tag they like them, but then don't really expect to see them. Now that I saw one, I am encouraged to plant more plants they like. Cameron, our night temps have been in the 40s and 50s for a few weeks, so maybe the one I saw was one of the stragglers, and the rest have flown on. I just bought a book on attracting hummingbirds and butterflies. It was an Ortho book, and I almost didn't buy it, because I didn't want to support a company that makes poison, but then decided that the book looked good, and I should support them for selling an animal friendly publication. I'll have to learn more about their habits and migration. Anne, I'll have to check out the "Hot Lips" salvia. I almost bought some kind of red when I bought the black and blue, and now wish I had. Well, there's always next year. I haven't seen any more hummingbirds, even though I'm on the lookout for them. Do you all put out feeders? We have one, but don't put anything in it. Maybe we should. I'll have to see what my book says about that, too. Sue

Lol - I'm still waiting to "bump into" (stalk?) someone from HGTV's "Crashers" Shows. Any one would do... Kitchen, yard, BATH, I'd totally follow them around the store, then look confused & exasperated with a dramatic flair... Of course with my face "paint & spackle" full-on & my hair brushed, even! (Of course, if I did see them - which I won't, since they don't come to Kansas-of-all-places - I would be my usual mess in paint-stained work clothes, not a lick of makeup & my hair in its usual ponytail. I'd run SO fast from any tv camera that I'd be in the parking lot without what I came for before you could say "greenboard"! Which is what I need to go get, now I'm wondering if I should get dolled-up first... Nah.

I LOVE Australian Shepherds (and Border Collies), but I would never get either one because of their high activity needs. I know myself, and I wouldn't be able to work with a high energy dog enough. As others have said, if you want a dog that is not high energy, an Aussie is NOT the dog for you. Just because what you saw was a smaller version, does not mean they have any less energy or will be any less destructive without the proper amount of activity and training. The Aussie (as he is lovingly nicknamed) is a very active dog that needs a great deal of exercise on a daily basis to prevent him from become bored or frustrated and developing destructive habits. Because of their high energy level, combined with high intelligence, Aussies need to be given a "job" to perform, be it shepherding the children, herding livestock or competing in dog events. One of the most frequent reasons Aussies are turned over to rescue groups is because their owners didn't realize how much energy the breed has, and weren't willing to channel that energy through training. Aussies are also quite demanding of their owners' time and attention and want to be constantly with them, following them from room to room in the house, and going along in the car or truck on errands. They can be highly territorial and protective of their masters' possessions, which can cause serious difficulties unless controlled with proper training.

hahahaaa maybe I should have whipped out the phone and turned on the camera and asked her to strike a pose for me! She might have been thrilled. I mean if she didn't want that kind of attention why the heck was she dressed that way. The thing that still just strikes me as so strange is that she was a very pretty classy looking lady maybe in her 30's and from the waist up was dressed very nicely and her shoes had to be very expensive. I was just really glad at least she had the dark control top type so that part was not see through LOL Maybe she thought that counted as shorts !
