What's for dinner Tuesday?

We spent the whole day at VA. Literally! We left the house at 7:00 a.m. and didn't get home until after 4:00 p.m. But we did stop for a very late lunch at my favorite restaurant, the Horse and Hound. Everything's named something to do with horses around here. We both had a grouper reuben. Man, was it good. It was fried grouper with cole slaw, Swiss cheese and thousand island dressing on toasted rye bread. I had mine with fries and Harry had his with fruit. Also a really good dill pickle spear. I would've prefered the fruit, but it had cantaloupe in it and I'm allergic. So dinner, if anything, will be the other half of our sandwiches while we watch Jeopardy.

We have a restaurant called Fox and Hound here. Not my kind of place.

Sarris, again! Smoked sausage with peppers and kraut and navy beans.

I had fried chicken, corn on the cob, some corn bread and iced tea. I ate no dessert. I sent food home today for a couple of the kids, so only one strip of the cake is left, less than half of the corn bread, and half of each pie. Since hubby did not want any chicken, I sent the rest of the chicken over for Amber and Mike. Mike picked the food up on his way home and Cheryl took her food when she brought me home.

Thanks for nice words and caring, I'm just thrilled, but at the same time, I'm hoping they've given me enough chemo (it will be 8 weeks or 8 sessions) to kill those nasty little cancer bugs. Sue, know you're tired of canning, but you'll be so happy all winter. Get lots of rest tonight! Glenda, I used to love those big shredded wheats. I would do like you, as I don't like crunchy cereal. I like Grape-Nuts soaked a long time, too. Yum! I haven't made oatmeal yet, although I keep saying I'm going to. Our Aldi's is too far to save me money. I'd love to stop in when I happen to be in the area sometime. Wonder if their brands are as good as regular? Pam, I think I'd be as happy with a grilled cheese as I would with your wonderful steak dinner last night. I don't think I could cook if it wasn't for ingredients like cheese. LOL! Georgysmom, I guess men still think it should be easy to beat a "bunch of women". Glad it ended as it did, or your luncheon might have ended in a food fight :-)

We're both off work the rest of the week. This morning, we did some shopping & I worked on the living room Christmas tree this afternoon & evening. We've settled in for the night to watch Sleepy Hollow (it's filmed near us!). For dinner, we had a salad (spinach, pears, Trader Joe's cranberry goat cheese, and blood orange vinaigrette) with French onion soup. We're having crazy weather. Sunday & Monday were clear but in the 40's. Today was in the low 70's & rainy. Tomorrow will be the same. Thursday is supposed to be back in the the 40's again.

Glenda, have fun with your boys! Chi83, I've seen a few soup recipes on Pinterest that used kale and beans. Nice combination---I could sub something else for the quinoa, I'm sure. Monica, yum! Bet your house smells so good. I imagine a lot of KT'ers will be looking for the key lime pie mix. Pam, you get more done in one day than 5 people! When I lived in IN I used to work the polls. It was nice when people brought us goodies since we couldn't leave the building from 5 a.m. until about 7 or 8 that night. I loved doing that! Shirley, after reading Pam's post I feel like I did nothing! Got more to do tomorrow. I'll be glad when tilapia tastes right again! Jasdip, I've read about those tomatoes too, but I thought they were really expensive. Glad you found out differently. I like Pomi brand tomatoes. They are imported from Italy and in a box like chicken broth comes in. The ingredient list is pretty short: tomatoes. :-) Mary, unfortunately I'm not finished with all the changes, but the list is getting short. :-) Grilled cheese sounds really good. Georgysmom, do you like your new closet? Was your DH surprised? Good luck at bridge!! Raven, hope that rain heads north instead of east. Spaghetti was always a winning dinner around here.

Yea, seagrass! You had enough left over. Harry used to make a really good acorn squash and fill the center with a brown sugar, pecan and splash of bourbon filling. It was like dessert! Enjoy your dinner! Glenda, I drool everytime I hear "smoked chicken salad". Saw an ad for a place that sells smoked mullet. Have to find it and make some mullet spread. Lordy, I could live on that stuff. Now you have us all intrigued about your lunch tomorrow. How about a hint? Is "it" male or female :-) Sue, I swear you have the best kids. They sure are a big help to them--but then, you're a big help to them, also. Sweet Betsy, so good of you to help at the hospice library. They took good care of Harry for the short time he was there. Good luck with your cheesecake. They're pretty easy, really. Shirley, isn't it strange how something can sound so good and turn out bad? I have 4 3-ring binders with recipes and make comments in the margin after I try them--whether good or bad and changes I made or would make. Maybe someone will like reading them someday. I know your salmon patties were good, though!! Jasdip, that's just too darned cold for me. Your pasta and veggies tasted nice and warming, I bet. Stay warm!!

We had a meeting after golf along with a luncheon buffet. It was good, a broccoli soup, salad, pasta salad, some kind of salmon concoction, mixed veggies and hot rolls. Ice cream with chopped cookies for dessert. Theres still a piece of lasagna in the fridge from last night's dinner if I so choose. Otherwise, an Activia will do.

You were so right last night, Georgysmom, when you said large portions were a good thing. So nice not to have to worry about dinner. Not to say I'm not above making fried egg sandwiches.

Hoovergal, your post yesterday--for the venison roll-ups--I have a question. Is the bacon raw before you roll it up? It sounds really good!

thick pork chops, mashed potatoes w/gravy and steamed broccoli. It was all very good!

We had the same as houstonmom except we didn't have the gravy.

Patti43 - yes, the bacon is raw. When you slice the tenderloin try to slice it in bacon sized strips. You first lay out the raw bacon strips. We use a large cutting board for this. Then spread room-temperature cream cheese on top, add seasoning (we used Mr. Chris'), sprinkle with diced jalapenos and then top with the raw tenderloin strips. Then just roll up and insert two toothpicks in opposite directions holding everything together. You hands will be messy but it will be worth it. As the bacon cooks it flavors the meat and the flavors meld together. You can also grill these on a George Foreman grill and they are just as good.

Glenda AL - Just tell your son to try it - I know it doesn't sound like a dish a hunter would like, but he will!

My brother was visiting so I made his favorite spaghetti and meat balls with a green salad..
