What's for dinner Friday?

We're having baked tilapia and a baked potato. Today I cleaned the whole kitchen including cleaning the outside of the cabinets and polishing the countertops. The kitchen looks so nice, I hate to mess it up :-)

What are you having to start the long weekend?

I am making some ground turkey meatballs in the crockpot.
I haven't decided what else yet.
We aren't doing a thing for the weekend. Hope you are having some fun. I'll be making another strawberry pie today or tomorrow, its DH's all time favorite (It's posted from Southern Plate)

McAllisters for roast beef au ju on a croissant!

Then off for a glass of wine and a pedi/manicure

Sue, glad you were able to get out and about. I see Indpls. weather in our newspaper. Like to look since DB lives in Greensburg. We only got up to 49 today--or so the paper said. Just heard we should have 70 on Monday, though. Glenda--haha! Hope you enjoyed that tamale. I had a pork tamale a couple of years ago at a little bakery that sells other things on the side. It was homemade and pretty good. Raven, happy birthday to your DH and have a wonderful dinner. I think yours sounds delicious! Shirley, isn't it fun to read restaurant menus? Sure is hard to make up one's mind sometimes! Especially if I'm hungry!! You must be having meatless Friday tonight. We used to do Monday's. (But not every Monday.) Rhizo, I will be right there! Oh, I do love sausage gravy. Now I'll be dreaming about it!! Jasdip, a turkey breast really goes a long way, doesn't it? Okay by me, I love it. Nice dinner--does your cabbage soup have a lot of different veggies in it? Mine does. I use the recipe from the cabbage soup diet. Very yummy!

Kayjones: I'll take one of each. Haven't had either one in a long time. Sue: You do eating right by not eating a full meal when you're only hungry for a banana. I'd have to add it to a bowl of oatmeal. lol The bananas haven't looked good in my area lately so haven't bought any for about a month. Jasdip: Your entire meal sounds like something I'd like to try. I'll take a small amount of each. Mary: What did you put in your shells? Ravencajun: I like your kind of soup. I often do that myself. I also wish more restaurants would offer half portions or something similar. I'm not sure about dinner yet. It's 8pm & DH is working an hour & a half away. He'll probably end up grabbing something on the way home. In that case, I'll just make myself a sandwich & have some fruit & yogurt. I have enough stuffed pepper mix to make a batch tonight, but I've had a headache for several hours & don't really feel like doing that. It's actually supposed to be sunny here tomorrow. I'm trying to get some household things done in spite of the headache so I can spend some time at the pool tomorrow.

Glenda, nice way for a restaurant to lose customers, huh? You aren't doing so good this week--that's two days in a row for bad dinners. At least yesterday, you got dinner! Seagrass, your meals are likely more tasty than restaurant meals anyway. But it is nice not to have to cook all the time. Sue, sure hope you feel better. I bought some Alka-Seltzer Plus cold med. in case I feel a cold coming on. It works well for me. Chicken soup always helps, too. Jasdip, I was able to eat three saltines with ham salad on top! Woohoo!! Also ate a mug of noodle soup. Of course, I'd rather have your taco salad :-( Isn't it nice to see the sun shining? Mary, I bet 38 did feel like a heat wave after that 19 you had the other morning. I'm waiting until next week to clean. The house stays pretty clean since I'm not cooking. Shirley, I need to make some beef barley soup. It sounds delicious. Glad you had sunshine--it feels so good in the winter. (Guess it isn't winter yet, though.) Jean, you're doing really well with your low-carb meals. You're a saint to fix your DH mashed potatoes when you can't eat them!! Aw Hellion, I'm waitin' for the day I can eat bacon. I think I'll just fry up a whole pound and have at it :-) Georgysmom, I forgot you were in Florida with your GF's. Sure wish you had better weather, but I just know you're having a great time anyway. I'll say a prayer to the weather gods for nice, sunny, warm days the rest of the week.

It has been in the 90's and HUMID. So this morning I put together a cold tuna salad. We'll have cantaloupe and I'll toast a few hot dog buns with butter and garlic salt, to use as bread sticks. Not doing anything special for the holiday weekend.

Going to our annual 4th of July rodeo, so probably a hamburger, chips and drink. I hope they have tea, but I know it will only be canned soft drinks. Happy weekend to all.

Mush. Think spaghetti with whatever noodles I find, in a meat sauce.

Busy baking, in fact that's why dinner isn't made yet! Mom's pineapple upside down cake is out of the oven, Strawberry Swirl Cream Cheese Pound Cake is in the oven now, minus the strawberry swirl.

I like Glenda's day too, Gadgets. Sigh, a pedi while sipping wine. I'm making meatloaf next week.

I have 2 lbs. of ground turkey in the freezer, Joann. How did you do your meatballs.

Vicki, your dinner sounds delicious. Especially, the baked cauliflower. Wanna share?

Dotmom, your hot weather dinner sounds refreshing. I made a tuna salad last week with avocado--hope yours is better. Love canteloupe, but I'm allergic.

Trixie, you have the best idea of all. Go enjoy the food and the rodeo!!

Patti, the baked cauliflower is one of my diet-friendly things I make. In a big ziploc bag I put cauliflower florets, a couple tbsp. olive oil, enough garlic powder and parmesan cheese to lightly coat and shake to distribute evenly. Spread on a cookie sheet and bake for about 30 min. or until the edges are brown. It gives cauliflower a whole new flavor.

I love red cabbage Moni, but I've never made it. I ususally get "Aunt Nellie's" in a jar! LOL!
