The last night we were with Hayjud we went to Grizzy's Restaurant and had blackened rib eye with cayjun butter. It was 14 ounces so we each brought half of our meat home. I put them in the freezer so tonight we are having that along with steamed rice, sauteed mushrooms, green beans and a salad.

Glenda, your dinner sounds good. It's unusual for you to be home all day. Hope you're okay--or is it just too hot or rainy?

Finished the house cleaning & then spent the rest of the day in the kitchen.

Made a pan of manicotti which hubby loves. The sauce for that is made different then the sauce I usually make. I made cho. chip cookies with dark & milk cho. chips.

Tomorrow is my first cataract surgery. I will be so glad when all these surgeries are over.

I unplugged the internet and power to the computers and tv last nite because we were getting thunder and lightning.

This morning the internet wouldn't power up at all. Spoke with Bell and they sent a technician around. He was to be here between noon and 6.

We didn't have any plans to go out anyway, I made bread and we watched the Cdn Open golf tournament.

I put a pork in the slow cooker this morning (a new recipe). I'm waiting for the potatoes to cook then we'll eat. Sure smells good!
My new potatoes are all rotting, so I cooked the lot up, and we'll have fried potatoes through the week. So much for being excited, buying them on sale. No bargain if a bunch are thrown out in less than a week, from rotting.

I've been on the computer a good part of the day. Checking out lighting fixtures, faucets, etc, and watching the Canadian open. Glad Hunter's wife didn't have false labor, but a darling baby girl. (he was leading the tournament but before he got to play yesterday he got a call that his wife was in labor and on her way to the hospital for their first born. He flew to Texas and baby was born early this morning.)

We're having quesadillas with a side of fresh corn, avocado and tomato salsa. I made the salsa earlier, just have to make the quesadillas.

Mary, wouldn't it be nice if once we cleaned to acutally stayed that way for a couple of months? A girl can dream. Sounds like you got a lot done today. Remember, no lifting or heavy work after your eye surgery.

Jasdip, nice of the repair guys to come on Sunday. I've never tried, so I don't know if ours would. What's your new pork recipe? I'd be happy with fried potatoes for a week. Yum!

Georgysmom, I was glad he got home in time. Somebody would sure have been disappointed if he hadn't. Harry loves quesadillas. Our favorite is when we go out and bring home leftover crab to sprinkle the shells with a good melty cheese and the crab. Oooh, mama! Your salsa sounds good with them.

I had a fairly busy week, and just decided it was "stay at home all day, today".

Everyone's meal sounds great.

I love quesadillas especially at Superior Grill, here. Night time, though it's more of a singles place, but day time, I enjoy going there.

My mouth is watering, reading the above meals for tonight. I put some great northern beans on to cook this morning, then decided to turn them into white chili. I also had an ear of corn, and a fresh peach.

Glenda, I watched that same movie this afternoon. Orson was such a good actor, in my opinion.

Hubby wanted a grilled steak and I don't always care for steak, so while we were there at the grocery store they had whole cooked lobsters 2 for $8.50 already steamed. So I will have lobster and salad, he gets salad with his steak and we are both happy.

I got the prettiest roses, 2 dozen they are so dark red they look black and they have yellow streaks and spots on them. Very unusual. I am going to take a picture.

TWO LOBSTERS FOR EIGHT FIFTY!!

OMG, think of all the things you can make.

Ok, that blew me away. We had big salads with all kinds of good stuff. Wish I had had some cold lobster chunks to go on them.

They were not terribly large unfortunately but what can you expect for the price.
I took a picture of the roses but it does not do them justice.

Daughter gave me a bowl of potato salad made with her potatoes fresh dug from her garden. So decided to go whole hog and make baked beans to go with it. A lot of carbs, but I was going to make it work. Prepared lemon pepper seasoned chicken breasts to put in the oven when the beans were about 20 minutes from done. Well, when I opened the oven door, I could see a little fire going on in there. The bottom heating element was burning up. Turned the oven off, but it kept burning. Had to throw the breaker on the stove to stop the burning.

So now I have no stove to cook on...was planning to sauté some zucchini so we could get by with eating less of those two high carb items on the menu by filling up on the zuch. That plan was out, so I added a plate of veggies to crunch and cooked the chicken in the toaster oven. No dessert tonight, we are all carbed up.
