We are having Stuffed Peppers and.................

For supper we are having stuffed peppers and black raspberry pie. I have a pan of 15 halves baking. I am sending all but two of them to Amber and Mike's and half of the raspberry pie. They have invited Mike's friend to join them as one other time I had made some and he ate with them. That was quite a long time ago. I filled the peppers with hamburger, homemade spanish rice, some chopped up fresh zucchini, peppers and onions and 2 cans of tomatoes ready for chili, a can of stewed tomatoes, a can of tomato sauce and poured a quart of home canned tomato juice around them to bake. They also had some chili powder, cumin, garlic powder and salt and pepper. They will be topped with a blend of Mexican cheese. They are very full. So I hope they enjoy their supper.

I got one big bag of my bing cherries cleaned, seeded and frozen. I put them in ziplock sandwich bags and will put those in a freezer bag later. I have another big bag to clean yet. It started getting stormy here for awhile I was cleaning so decided I was tired enough for today :)

Oh, I love stuffed green peppers. Actually I love green peppers in almost anything except, maybe dessert.LOL DH doesn't like them at all. so when I cook something using them, i make a his & Her version. Dottie

I assumed that bellamama was planning to plant them. You are planning to, right? In general, hardening disorders include: * Yellowing: Exposed to bright sun too quickly * Purple: Exposed to too much cold, too soon * Limp: Hurting from one of several factors (too cold, too leggy, too much rain, too much wind, etc) Brassicas can survive just fine being a lot leggier than that. You can have them be so leggy that they're pretty much growing along the ground, but if you get them light, and they don't die within a few days of doing so, they'll recover and you'll end up with a slightly L-shaped brassica ;) No need to panic; your plants should be fine. Give them no more than a half day of direct sunlight for now and increase it to a full day perhaps Monday-ish. Just keep an eye on them; if they get any yellower than that, cut back on the sunlight. You could try growing them in pots this size, but I'd expect their growth to be stunted. It'd be better if they were in larger pots or the ground.

I have frozen stuffing peppers for several years now. I have done Poblanos and Joe Parkers, the seed of which Larry sent me a couple years ago and which we love. We do it by roasting the peppers on the grill til the skins are uniformly blistered, then popping them into a gallon plastic freezing bag and letting them sweat. When they've cooled we slip the skins off, slice down one side leaving the stem end on, pull out the seeds and membrane from inside, lay them out individually on cookie sheets to freeze, then pack them into freezer bags. The things we like about the Joe Parkers are taste, smoky with just a hint of heat, large size, and ease of peeling. The skin is thick, and after blistering and sweating pulls off easily in one or two large pieces. These are wonderful for chile rellenos. So thanks Larry. I freeze jalapenos too, but just pop them into the freezer raw after deseedingj--with gloves on. I use these later in fresh and canned salsa.

I just happened to run across a recipe I had saved and forgot about having. I have not prepared it but thought you might want to add it to your collection for your pepper loving family. It sounds interesting to me. Chile/Tomato Stuffed Bell Peppers Jamie Oliver 2 Red Peppers, halved lengthwise, deseeded and the stem left on 2 Yellow Peppers, halved lengthwise, deseeded and the stem left on Sea Salt and Black Pepper 1 Clove garlic, peeled and sliced finely 24 Cherry Tomatoes, halved 3 Fresh Red Chillies, 2 sliced and one deseeded and finely chopped 2 Tablespoons Capers, soaked and drained Handful black olived, pitted A Bunch Fresh Basil, leaves picked 2 Tablespoons red or white vinegar Extra Virgin Olive oil Optional: 8 Sliced Pancetta or Smoked Bacon 4 Slices Sourdough Bread 4 Balls Mozzarella Cheese, torn in half 2 Handfuls Arugula The peppers are baked at 400F, then filled with the rest of the stuff. Served on top the bread and with the mozzarella on the side and Arugula on top. There was some disagreement on another site as to whether to stuff raw or cooked. It said to put the pancetta on top and cover with foil. Cook in the oven (375-400) for 15 minutes. Take the foil off. Give them another 10-15 min. Put the thin sliced mozzarella on top. Put the peppers on top of the toast slices & poke them through the bottom so the juices run onto the toast. Sprinkle some more very finely diced chiles over everything. Hi everyone. I ended up in a time crunch & thought it would be quicker to do a one dish meal with the peppers cut up. Boy was I wrong. At least I found out that my farmer pork sausage is not as lean as his ground beef. Since farmer ground meat is frozen immediately, and not thawed prior to my use I'm not worried about safety, and may well use it raw next time. Those were such beautiful poblanos! A real shame I didn't go ahead and stuff them.

I like stuffed green peppers, but I LOVE stuffed red and yellow peppers. Hmm... I should make some this weekend.

I like some green pepper but not too much. Prefer it in items than the traditional stuffed peppers. I usually make the stuffed pepper filling and have with toast or something.

No din-din here. Had Taco Bell for lunch. It's warm here so I'll probably just drink a lot of water or make some of that deadly iced tea.

But that pie sure sounds good!

Your stuffed peppers sound just marvelous, I could really go for some but DH does not like them :-(
I fixed fried flounder filets, mac and chees along with peas plus I had some applesauce.
No dessert here but I did eat a Hershey Chocolate Bar after dinner.

Boy, you really do those stuffed peppers in style! They sound great! I have never made them, but you make me wanting to try it.

We had homemade pizza with diced tomatoes, onions, yellow peppers and pepperoni. It turned out perfect! DH even complimented.....That alone is a miracle!

If you love stuffed peppers you'll love this soup. I made it several time this past winter. It is now one of our favorites.

UNSTUFFED PEPPER SOUP
Ingredients
* 1 1/2 lbs lean ground beef
* 3 large green peppers, chopped
* 1 large onion, chopped
* 2 (14 ounce) cans beef broth
* 2 (10 ounce) cans tomato soup, undiluted
* 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes, undrained
* 1 (4 ounce) can mushroom pieces, drained (I haven't used mushrooms yet, I didn't have any both times I made it)
* 1 1/2 cups cooked rice

Directions
1. In a dutch oven or large saucepan, cook beef, peppers, and onions over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain.
2. Stir in the broth, soup, tomatoes, and mushrooms.
3. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally.
4. Add the rice, heat through and serve.

Your peppers sound yummy!!

We had Longhorn steakhouse tonight used a gift card we got for our anniversary a few weeks ago. DH had ribs and I had parmesean crusted chicken. Delicious.

I used to HATE (yes, it's a strong word, LOL!) stuffed peppers when I was growing up. I'd gag on 'em and it made mom so mad! Now I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the things! :D Who knew? :)

Meatloaf,mashed potatoes,gravy and roasted asparagus. DH wanted a vacation from the grill. I love leftover meatloaf. I'm going shopping with DD tomorrow so I've got leftover for tomorrow night. Yipee!

I am not crazy about stuffed peppers...or I should say I didn't use to care for them. However, I LOVE stuffed cabbage. But I really only like the cabbage part! LOL

Years ago I worked at a restaurant/bar that was known for their homemade food, one of the owner's specialties was stuffed peppers. Her secret was (1) salt the cavity of the pepper before stuffing in, and (2) use pizza sauce instead of tomato sauce. Try it!!!
