I had a quiet day at home today except for a brief trip to the grocery store and a stop at the bank. Today was catch-up day. Did several loads of wash (still working on that) and cleaned my refrigerator and refrigerator drawers out. There were some things there that were unrecognizable!

Tonight we're having asparagus salad with grilled salmon
DH is not exactly an asparagus fan or a salmon fan but tomorrow he'll have all his favorites. You can't always get your way especially if you're not the cooker.

I went to the Home where my special needs sister lives. They had their 4th picnic/celebration today. Hot dogs, sloppy joes, hamburgers, macaroni salad, baked beans, watermelon, and rootbeer floats. It was nice enough to have it outdoors. We had a good time.

Friend just called and wanted to kinow if we were still going out. Reminded her it's a 100% chance of rain and she said she wouldn't melt. :o) Out we'll go!

Rained here today so I made a pot of chili. I will have some shells. They say rain for the rest of the week.

not sure, probably either brats or a salad with seafood in it, those are the two easiest choices in the fridge. Haven't been feeling well and not interested in cooking.

it's 90 degrees here and no a/c except in the bedroom so it will be takeout night. i'll have a bacon cheeseburger sub and jim will have a steak and cheese sub and we will split an order of steak fries. we will have the other half of the subs tomorrow for lunch!! this makes me happy, happy!! :)

I fixed dinner for my neighbors who have been ill. One had back surgery and her mom had a medication mix-up that led to a several-day hospitalization. They are having turkey tenderloin, oven roasted broccoli and sweet potato, and slaw. For dessert, lemon ricotta cookies.

I had a big lunch out with friends- grilled chicken, hummus, salad and too much good bread. Slaw (the vinegary kind) is just right for me for now.

lindalou, bacon cheeseburger sub and a steak sub sounds great. Only sub I ever had was once at Subway.

hounds x two, dinner for your neighbor, I am quite sure, is muchly appreciated and delicious!

Your lunch with friends sounds good too. I sometimes eat too much bread if it's warm and homemade.

It looks like we may finally get a break from the rain tomorrow. Cooler than norma for July though.

I went grocery shopping this evening & was planning to fix spinach tortellini. DH is working late out of town & I was running late by the time I was done, so I decided on something simpler. Whole Foods was having one of their holiday "bundle deals", so we're having bbq sandwiches with coleslaw. Will have a chocolate chip cookie for dessert as that was part of the bundle. We almost never keep any kind of sweets around the house, so it's a treat for us.

kittiemom, I saw that "bundle deals" when I passed our Whole Foods yesterday.

Do you put slaw ON your bbq sandwich?

Some restaurants serve them that way here.

I got home from NYC on Monday night, didn't cook last night so tonight I made chicken/green chile enchiladas and broccoli cooked with olive oil and garlic.

Glenda, yes, we eat the slaw on the sandwich. That's the traditional way in this part of NC.

I made baked ziti on the weekend.....1 for the freezer and one to have thru the week. We heated that up in the microwave, and I had baby spinach and strawberries salad to go along with it.

Humid, humid weather, and I purposely made something that could be heated in the microwave vs using the stove.
