Good Grief!!!

Got an e-mail from the folks who bought our house (almost 2 months ago, now) that he had some mail for us. First of all, I've got a forwarding order in at the post office, so it really should have come here, if it's got our name on it. He mentioned it was from the county sewer authority. Since I KNOW we had that zeroed out at settlement, I can only assume it's HIS sewer bill for the next quarter. (He's going to open it when he gets home from work, and let us know what it is so we can sort that out).

Then today, I got (forwarded) the water/sewer bill from the town--for that house! So I called town hall to correct that.

I called all these places before settlement to let them know we were moving. Guess each one is going to have to be dealt with individually... sigh.

Well, on the upside, our buyers were so nice, that this back and forth gives us a chance to visit. We'd invited them down to the country for a get-together Sat. but she's working. Would have been lovely if they could have come.

I've lived in my house for eight years and I still get mail for the former owners. I was very careful for the first three years to arrange to deliver all of the non-junk mail to them as they still live in my town, but now I toss it directly into the recycle bin. I figure after eight years, it can't be from anybody the former owners care about or know very well.

You may still have a slight bill for water & sewer. You moved 2 months ago and zeroed out your bill, but they may have zeroed out what you had outstanding at that time.

In most jurisditictions they bill water & sewer quarterly so you may have an outstanding bill for one month before you moved.

Thanks for the ideas, all. Snidely, I had considered that....washed my face and used my nasal irrigator, which did help some. Arkansas girl, yep.....used peroxide to brush my tongue, and that helped some, too. Moonie, I actually did tell a friend one time, and I was soooo uncomfortable about it! But it was a chronic problem, and I just knew that she needed to see a dentist. Turned out that I was right; she had the early stages of peridontal disease. Lol, Linda....I'd be happy to do the honors!

peren.all - you are way beyond my understanding of this pest. I was not aware of any natural parasites of Lily Beetle being as how it is not a native species. Certainly, even if there are some they are having little impact according to the RHS survey information. One factor might be that there are far more lilies being grown these days. Combined parasitoids of the lily beetle have been found to parasitise 25% to 94% of L. lilii larvae in mainland Europe (Haye & Kenis 2000; 2004; Ra¨mert et al., 2009). With 21% of larvae producing parasitoids in this investigation and 27% reported in Salisbury (2003) it appears that parasitism rates are currently towards the lower end of the European range in the UK. This may be due to the UK currently having fewer species of parasitoid than mainland Europe. The dominant parasitoid in most of Northern and Western Europe is Lemophagus errabundus (Haye & Kenis 2000, 2004, Ra¨mert et al., 2009). From the results presented here it is apparent that this species is also the dominant parasitoid of L. lilii in at least part of the UK. Tetrastichus setifer is dominant in Germany and Diaparsis jucunda (Holmgren) (Hymenoptera: Ichneumonidae) (a species not yet found in the UK), is dominant in Southern Europe (Haye & Kenis, 2000; 2004). Yes, you can make starter with grapes. Or whole grain. Or any number of things. Wild yeast is on them. It's all the same kind of yeast. The bread doesn't have to taste different if you use wild yeast (sourdough starter), unless you're trying for a yeasty taste. Commercial yeast is a different strain than wild. Regular bread will taste the same if you make it right. The real issue with using wild yeast is that the method is different and it takes a lot longer, and getting a good rise out of a new starter isn't guaranteed. All over the 'net, however, all kinds of people (especially young ones) are catching yeast and baking breads both sour and not from it.

No, lazy--those things are taken care of at settlement here. The water dept. comes out specially to read the meter right before settlement (just like the electric and gas companies do), so that it was all taken care of (and we had a CREDIT with the county sewer, which was addressed at settlement). This water bill has the meter reading date on it--it's definitely not ours. The town just hadn't changed the name. The gal at town hall is just sending the new one to the new owners.

Fun2--we've actually owned this house for 4 years, and I not only get the old owners mail, but mail for some houseguests they had staying here for a while! But since the previous owners now live next door, I just hand the stuff to them (or put it in their box, if I don't see them out).

The house I lived in for 15 years still had mail delivered from the two previous owners up until I moved. There was still mail delivered to them after I moved.

Some of it was important (from an insurance company) and no matter who it was from, I put it back in the mail box with "RTS - MOVED; NO FORWARDING ADDRESS" on the front. I didn't know the prior owners but thought the insurance company would notice.

It's pretty odd how long your name stays out there.....

In our case it was the opposite. Knowing we were moving we established a PO box about a year ahead. Our kids live in the town and we made arrangements for them to check everything out. Got the magazines ok, but one of the people in the PO (Contract PO) was having some emotional problems and when I did put in the change about a week before we moved, he would not/did not forward anything. I called and he refused to answer the phone. Finally our PM here sent something, and about 6 weeks finally begin to get stuff. I know he threw alot of stuff away, but cannot prove it, and now I wish I had gone to the main office that overlooks the contract PO. Oh well.

We'd lived in one house about ten years when a process server came to the door -- looking for our seller.

We've had our current land line phone number for eleven years and are still getting telephone calls from an investment company for the people who had the number before we did. We are also getting mail addressed to someone who lived at this address (teardown) around 1960. I don't think she's still living! Some places must never purge their mailing lists.

When I bought my home 7 years ago, I worked with the mother of one of the previous owners and just brought their mail to her mom. They originally ran their siding and roofing business from home and UPS and Fed Ex would leave boxes of materials on my porch and I would call to have them picked up. I still get mail for them and just throw it out now.

once in a great while i get a circular for my mother who passed in 2005, and had notified the group she was gone...
