Oooh, I hate seeing crunchy or limp foliage, especially after that Easter freeze of 06, my Japanese maples are still trying to recover, and I lost so many roses to canker, I'm still digging them out after they limped along. Hopefully this was a short enough bout to just damage some early growth and that it was just a blip on the weather radar. I think I'm getting numb to weird weather. I used to worry about it a lot more when we lived in Indiana, tornado alley. I had my weather radio at the ready and the basement was stocked with supplies. Saturday night apparently we had tornado warnings, the sky turned yellow and then we had some severe thunderstorms that struck very close by. The dog went under the bed while I was watching a movie on DVD. My daughter was at the mall with some friends and told me the next day that they herded everyone into the tornado shelters. She just wanted to stay in the food court, not worried even after she saw the weird sky. Like mother like daughter?

Back in the 'good ole days', at school you were given the supplies and made cards for everyone in the class and put into a decorated box. I guess you could get a little more friendly with one made for someone special but at least everyone would get a card. You would think that the idiots putting these things together would realize that many kids wouldn't get anything. Now, if they want to do the right thing, then they should see that the 'forgotten' kids get something delivered to them also.

Four guys were discussing whether people's hair colour gave any indication of who got mad the quickest, hottest, and to what effect. One, whose girl friend was a redhead, thought that it was people with that colour hair that did so, giving examples. Same for guy with girl friend a blonde ... and brunette. Then they looked at the fourth guy, and said, "What's your opinion, buddy - you haven't said a word, thus far?". "I don't see much difference: my wife's been all three, and I didn't notice any difference," was his reply. o j

My son, a teacher, was told by the school nurse that he should go home and get a PCR test. She said there is a new Covid strain circulating here that presents with symptoms like his (sore throat/cold kind of thing) but it is not getting caught by home testing. It makes me wonder if what people are saying is a cold or virus but not Covid is the new strain but people are only home testing. That's not a criticism - I took a home test that was negative myself when I was coughing and my head was congested. Now I wonder -- but I was not as bad as DS is. He was here for dinner last night and I drove his car to go pick up something. I guess I could still get it. If he does pop positive, this will be the second time this school year. Hope everyone feels better. And congrats on the grandbaby, Sheesh!
