I get on my nerves Shrug. Nobody worries about it, so don't let it bother you. Re the above, I've heard of Shiksa Appeal, but that kind of takes the cake. I think the only bad experience I had was with a cardiologist who wouldn't explain what the heck was going on with me, wouldn't tell me what medications he was putting in my IV (illegal under state law here), and deflected every question with "you don't need to know that." The last straw was when he refused to believe I was having a medication reaction. "But nobody's allergic to that!" Yeah, well, meet Mr. Nobody. Since I was having an atricular arrhythmia at the time, I wasn't exactly in any danger since I was being monitored. There was time to answer questions (more than ample since the only thing they can do is medicate it back to a normal rhythm, and that took 14 hours in my case). Millions of people wander through life with an AA and never know it (up until then, I did). The only thing it did was tick me off badly and raise my heart rate. Since the top chamber was already beating 180 times a minute, that's not real good. He got his butt fired off my case as soon as I was out of the hospital and I found a wonderful doctor who sat down, showed me the nerve channels on his model plastic heart, explained what happened, and what we can do to keep it from ever happening again. And so it hasn't and I feel fine.

Wow, is it staying blue in the sun? It sure is a lovely plant. But then, at your latitude, the sun rays are more oblique than here. Not quite as deadly. What a difference a degree can make....lalala ....and the sun and the flowers.... ...where there ought to be rain..... Gesila, wear a hat when you go out in the noonday sun. Like they say, only mad dogs and Englishmen go out in it. :)

We're covered by an HMO so we don't have this option. I'm very happy with what we have, tho. Our plan includes an on-line feature where I can send my Dr. emails, set appointments, fill prescriptions, view my health record, etc. If I feel I need a longer appointment than the standard, I ask for a 45 minute one. I've never had to wait longer than 10 minutes past my appointment time. The nurse told me they schedule the appointments with 20 minutes between them so to account for overages and give the doc time to get the records updated. My only gripe is that the specialists are located within a hospital complex and hour away, but our GP's are close and we don't have to pay extra for the specialists. I have a friend who is on a different plan, and she's really got hassles with it, most as you've all mentioned, no easy access, long waits, etc. She claims she's free to see any doctor she wishes, but we've never had any trouble changing providers. DH and I are lucky we like our docs, DH only has changed once; I've had my same doc for over 15 years.

I went for my 6 week post natal check up. My right breast was kind of painful, as if the milk ducts were clogged or something. So my doctor told me he would gently palpate the area that I told him felt painful, to see if he could feel anything unusual. Just as he was doing so, my milk instantly 'let down' and started dripping out onto his hand. He quickly pulled his hand away and grabbed a tissue for me. But then suddenly I heard my 6 week old baby cry (who was with my husband in the waiting room) and all heck broke loose. My milk suddenly started spraying out of my other 'unclogged' breast, hitting his lab coat! Before I could even do it myself, my doctor instantly covered my left breast with his hand, and kind of croaked "Can't you just stop this?" My doctor was younger than me, with no kids yet, and looked like the proverbial Dutch boy trying to cover the leak in the dyke. He obviously was unaware that breastfeeding mothers often can't control a sudden letdown of milk, when they hear their infant cry. I just laughed and said "Sorry about that, and no, I can't stop it, I can only ask you to please bring me my baby." He said "Sure thing!" and couldn't have run out of the room faster, lol! P.S. he gave me medication and my painful breast cleared up shortly afterward.

Thanks for asking about me. I'm back from the doctor. He did an EKG in the office. It was fine. BP was 118/82. I have to go tomorrow for an echo cardiagram and a scan of my corroded er I mean carotid arteries. I also will have an MRI instead of a CT scan because of my prior brain tumor. Then on Friday morning I will go for fasting blood work. I go back to the doctor in 2 weeks. I'm sure they will get me in sooner if they find something that needs immediate attention.

Yes, Patti, I did get to change doctors. I "inherited" the other doctor when mine died a couple of years ago. I had been thinking of switching, Wayne already had. This was the push I needed to actually do it. This is a younger (cute too) doctor and he listens and really seems to care about making you well. Wayne really likes him too.
