alisande, I agree with you, I hope Netflix will add more movies to the streaming option! I can NEVER find a good movie. I go round and round and round, and by that time......i say forget it, i'll just read my book!! LOL....

I do like the mailed discs, because they do arrive at my house sooooo fast! That part of it is great!

I don't have a problem with it--it's still a great buy. I don't know of any other place that can do better.

DH finds plenty to watch streaming at Netflix. On his days off, he watches it 8 hours a day and never runs out of things to watch. He watches more than just movies...he watches documentaries and TV shows as well, there are tons of them at Netflix.

I agree with you...every now and then I like to see a newer release and then I get those through the mail but most often I just do the streaming. I find a lot to watch.. I watch tv series and I like foreign films which I think they have a great supply of on streaming.

For the few times a year I may want to watch a newer movie, I'll just rent one somewhere or get from the library. I think in the long run, I'll save money.

We were getting 3-at-a-time Blu-ray plus streaming, but I just dropped the streaming. We probably only watch one streaming movie every 2 or 3 months, at best.

If they don't offer the same movie/TV series/documentaries on Streaming, I'm going with mailed disks and use my Roku box as a $100 door stop. Ugh.

How do you watch streaming, on your TV? I can stream to the computer, but I don't know how to set up for the TV.

In order to stream into your TV you need a Roku box like Jodi mentioned or something else that does the same thing. A Blu-Ray player will do it, or PlayStation, I think.

I figure I better finish watching Castle before the changeover, because so far the series is not offered with streaming.

We stream through our Wii or our Sony Blu-Ray player. I love streaming! I watch old episodes of Gunsmoke (the old black and white ones) and I have tons of movies and National Geographic stuff lined up.

I've had the package, but never used the streaming, as I don't have the gizmo needed. I think it's a great deal at one-at-a-time, unlimited discs. The turnaround time is so fast that I can watch two a week, and that's plenty for me.

Rather than using a Roku box or another device, we stream from the computer to the TV using an old laptop that we don't have any other use for.

I do mostly the DVD's, but since my daughter told me, all I need id a HDMI cable, and use my laptop to play the streaming movies, I have watched some of those. I think, I will switch to just streaming.

We have a box that says "Sony BluRay" on the front. I'll have to call Netflix. (Or maybe they won't notice me if I don't say anything.)

Oh, I get it, Susan. That's the difference. I get them one at a time, too, but I can get as many as I like per month. However, it usually works out to two per month. LOL

I changed mine to 3 movies at a time and no streaming. It actually will be cheaper for me as I never used the streaming part anyway.

I was pretty peeved to have the service I get (3 cd's plus streaming) increase in price by 20% in one fell swoop. This was after an increase once already this year.
I understand that Netflix has to raise revenue in order to maintain profit while building their streaming library and that it is their intention to steer the business toward electronic delivery, which has lower and much more forecastable costs.
They are alienating a lot of customers with this move, but it is calculated - they are doing it because they can and they can because there's really not another true competitor.
This move will be discusses in MBS classes for years to come.
We have not decided what to do, we have discussed several options, including cancellation and going ahead a paying the $24/mo.

At the same time, my high speed internet service by AT&T has informed their customers that they have put a monthly limit on the amount of downloading allowed. After the limit is reached, extra charges will be made. Their reason: To curtail the traffic hogs so they can better serve regular internet users. Most of the large data traffic is from streaming movies!

We have streaming with a Wii and 1-at-a-time DVD. It will be $16 a month and we will keep that plan. We use both enough to warrant it, and it won't break the bank, this time.......

I did read an article on Netflix alternatives, and they aren't nearly as good. Mostly it noted that the selections in the other plans weren't as extensive and the prices weren't all that great, considering the limited inventories.
