I too have a Super Bronco tiller, they do a great job. We don't use it though to till up the garden, our son in law does it with his John Deere and tiller. The Bronco gets to go up and down the rows of veggies. I used to use it a lot, but don't any more, our other son in law uses it or or daughter uses her tiller, which is smaller than the Bronco. It is too wet here for gardening yet, more rain coming this morning. As they say, that is what makes the little chicks grow! Sue in Central Indiana

Made it 4 days straight to water aerobics. We've been moved from the big pool to the lap pool, due to school being out and swim team takes over the big pool. Lunched at Golden Corral, not my favorite place, but filled the bill, today. Hot, so came home and turned the ac on. Nap time is soon.

It was quiet here too. My DD and SIL had a big cookout for his family and of course invited us but we don't know his family well and thought it best to just hang out the two of us. It rained all day so our local fireworks were postponed. Instead of grilling we went to our favorite Chinese restaurant and then came home and watched DVD Nite at the Smithsonian. Absolutely hilarious. Looking forward to the second movie which isn't out on DVD yet. Then watched the PBS special from Washington and then later the Boston pops concert with Neil Diamond. Don't need anymore fireworks until the big display in Cincinnati on Labor day. Hope everyone's Fourth was special to each in their way. I too have so many thoughts of when my DD and DS were little and we had BBQs and hayrides etc for all our friends. We're all older and more settled but I love my memories.

I can see that one meet lots of interesting people in a community garden ..... :-) As for what I'm doing in the garden now it's collecting scores of oak leaves bagged up by my neighbors and spreading them on all the beds for mulch. At least this year I'm spreading them on damp ground so they will be preserving some moisture. I hailed a tree trimmer a couple of weeks ago and got him to dump his load of ground up tree limbs for use as mulch later in the year. They are good for topping pots so the soil doesn't splash out when watered with the hose. I'm also putting Agriform Fertilizer Tablets in all the pots and digging a little hole and putting under the perennials, small trees and shrubs. I'm sprinkling Miracle-gro Shake 'N Feed All Purpose Continuous Plant Food from Costco on most everything else. A couple of weeks ago I broadcast three 50 lb. bags of alfalfa pellets (from a feed store) on the small Floratam St. Augustine lawn, around all the shrubs, roses, and perennials and watered it in. I did most of the hard work in February when I tempted fate (and won!) by unloading the green house and placing three ferns, seven bougainvilleas, five bare rooted plumerias and other things around the yard. Some needed re-potting so it's not as easy as it sounds. The bougies are already starting to bloom. Also I made my own potting soil by mixing broken bags of compost , etc. (that I get for a dollar or two at Lowes) with a few other ingredients. Also in Feb. (so nice to work in the cool weather) I took out some over sized agaves that were pupping all over the place (some were in pots and I had to cut off each leaf individually with a serrated bread knife being careful not to get any sap on my skin), dug out a large bed of fruit cocktail shrimp plants because they were getting too much sun after a tree came down and I was having to put up umbrellas by July to shade them, moved numerous plants to better places while discarding a few to make the garden easier to care for. Since I won't be coming to the SAPS this spring due to having made reservations months ago to take a tour of Bamberger Ranch I notify my neighbors via a neighborhood Facebook page and set out extra plants by the curb for the taking. Like at swaps I get to meet a lot of nice people that way ... :-) Plus I pruned sago and fan palms, trimmed numerous other plants, removing dead foliage, etc.. Also have never pulled so many weeds in my life as I have this year! Whew ...! So what are you doing in the garden?
