Follow up on the wacky woman at the grocery store.

They have made contact with the owner of the car (who is a male, not the female.) The car was not there apparently but they went to the home several times. The man said that he no longer has the car and it was stolen a long time ago. (There is no police record of this.) There is no bill of sale and the car is still in his name. (Wouldn't you get the car out of your name in case that person got in a wreck, etc... ) Weird. The police won't give me a lot of information. The policeman that came over for further info, I have worked with in the past (not a job, but when my son was running away with his autism, so I have talked to him several times before) He said that CPS has to be contacted and in the information that they have, they have been contacted, however, it is leading back to that same home of the register.

I did not file assault charges. I don't know why. I so wanted to beat her butt right then, when she kicked me, BUT was trying so hard to stay level headed. No matter what, that is still the little girl and baby's mom, and there is no way on earth I would put them through someone hitting or kicking their mom. I just don't see a point of it. Also, you never know if they have a knife or anything. I don't want busted up teeth and I hate seeing blood. I really am a laid back kind of gal. Also, we are really trying to teach Taylor to walk away from confrontation like that and get help. What example would I be if I did the same thing that she did.

I have enough on my plate right now, with Tay in the hospital, and now I just can't get her off of my mind. It makes me very sad for her and the baby both. It bothers me more to think about her, as there was such fear in her eyes. The baby was crying after she dropped the carrier, but I guess he was more like what the heck is going on type cry. That little girl was scared. I can't imagine that fear. I am so upset about this.

(((Wendy))) Be assured that you did all you could do and it is in the hands of the Police now, and CPS, and hopefully they can keep you informed in order to put your mind to rest about this. I would think if they have the license plate #, regardless of what the owner of the car says, she will be driving it again, and they will find her. I hope you find peace with this in knowing that you did the courageous and right thing.

Zamia furfuracea is the "cardboard palm" with thick, textured leaves that are brownish on the undersides. Zamia floridana is the "coontie" They both need similar conditions. Neither is likely to have success where they are currently situated, based on the new growth they have made. They will very slowly look worse and worse and will be candidates for insect, mealy, scale or mite infestation. Without enough light they may not even send out new growth at all. The existing new leaves have formed as a result of the plants' prior existence. Cycads store carbohydrates from photosynthesis. When the critical threshold has been reached, they form new leaves. Without light there is no phootosynthesis, and no growth. The older leaves can last several years. I cannot stress enough - without good light your plants will never be healthy despite your best efforts with good soil and fertilizer. Cycads are not good houseplants unless you can provide superior lighting. Try Sansevieria for a low light location. x

"Last summer while I was shopping the produce mgr passed by, looked in my cart and said, "No produce??" in a mock horrified way." "When I got to the checkout, the clerk commented that I had all "fun" stuff in my cart." "Any checkout clerk that makes a comment about what's in my cart other than "hmm, that looks good, have you tried it before?" gets a good case of the hairy eyeball. Ring up the blasted groceries and cork it, twinkie." Clerks are suppose to be trained not to comment on the purchases of customers. They would get more than just a hairy eyeball from me. I remember well the clerk who surveyed my load of veggies and cheese, who exclaimed with shock and disdain "Do you eat this stuff?!?!?!" I told her "No. Of course not. I am using this for a tablescape. My trunk is filled with Hot Pockets and Ding Dongs." I think she went deaf after I said it loud enough to embarrass her in front of everybody. I recently had a customer in line right behind me who LOUDLY proclaimed "Lady don't you think you're taking this vegetarianism too far?!?" when he scanned my load of fruits veggies and cheese on the check-out conveyor. I really blasted him because it was none of his business what I was buying. He wanted to make me look like some kook who didn't know that I should be buying what "everyone else buys" because that is what the television commercials tell us to buy - Popscicles, Fritos, GummieBears, oh and 'power drinks' to keep from feeling "run down" from a poor diet. (And BTW I am not a vegetarian. I just don't buy my meat at that particular store.) "Simple fact is that soda, chips, candy, hot dogs, sugary cereal, frozen pizza, white breads and anything made with corn, are the cheapest things to buy." That is absolutely not true at all. It is NOT a "simple fact". Soda has zero nutritional value just like plain water. If you wish to "quench your thirst" - Drink water. The cheapest things to buy are always going to be unprocessed foods. Things like dried legumes, and cruciferous vegetables, grains. Fruits and berries 'in season' are reasonably priced. Buy canned when they are out of season, and it is still better than buying CANDY BARS. Paying a buck-fifty for a candy bar for lunch, is not the cheaper option. You were kidding about the candy bars, right? Instead of eating potato chips, just cook a potato. Waaaay cheaper, and a microwaved potato will retain most of the vitamin C and nutrition. You can buy ten pound of potatoes for what one little bag of chips cost. Hot dogs are $3.99/lb in the store. You can instead buy decent meat for that price. You can get chicken for $.79/lb and even taking into account the bones in the weight you are still better off both monetarily and healthwise. Sugary cereal is cheaper than a bowl of cooked oatmeal?? Your kidding right?

I joined a local social group that includes couples, married couples, and singles. The ages range from late 20-something to 80-something. They meet once a month and anyone can suggest and coordinate an activity. There are camping trips, day hikes, dinner outings, art walks, parties, events, movie outings, music performances, lots of things. I participate from time to time, though lately I've been working out of town. It is not a singles group, just a social group. It sounds like something you might enjoy, Jonesny. Dues are $12 a year to cover mailing and copying costs. Ours is called "Adventure Club." I don't know if it is affiliated with other Adventure Clubs but the clubs in this link sound similar. I've got 4 kids, the oldest is 10. The only times they have eaten in a store while I was shopping has been in the last few years when my local grocery store started offering a free snack size piece of fruit (apple, banana or orange) to kids. Prior to that; as babies in carriers to toddlers sitting in the basket to preschoolers walking along side; I never brought food for them and I didn't give them anything in the store either. If I knew I was going to be shopping and they would be hungry, I would feed them before hand or give them a snack in the car afterwards but not in a store. None of my kids have any medical conditions that necessitate an immediate dietary requirement that can't wait until we leave the store. Maybe I would feel differently if one if them did.

That is wierd about the car... I would bet it's his girlfriend and he's lying, but who knows. I wonder if the police asked him to file a report about his stolen car and what he said to that.

I didn't mean to suggest you should have filed a report yourself (I know I wouldn't have though of it) only wanted to point out that she probably couldn't get in any real trouble for the other stuff even though it seemed bad to the bystanders.

Hopefully, the police will get involved now that there may be a stolen car involved. I mean if they believe the guys story, not only do they have a crazy abusive woman on their hands but she may also be a car thief! I would think she would get moved to the top of their lists to find... reagardless of what CPS is doing separately. And if the guy is lying, he should get in some big trouble for lying to police and obstructing justice, no? I'm hoping the police have some detectives on it and aren't just still refering it to CPS. Sounds like they have some possible law breakers on their hands not even counting the abuse to the girl.

Thanks for letting us know how it's going. I once started to yell at my daughter in a grocery store, an older woman stepped forward and talked kindly to me. She said "I know it's hard, but please don't yell". I was so embarassed, yet grateful to her for interrupting me. My daughter , now age 19, is and was the dearest thing in my life. Wendy, you did an amazing thing. The next time I see a kid in trouble, I'll be part of the solution. You are my hero!

I am not buying the stolen car story at all. What idiot would risk their name on a title to a car that was stolen and involved in who knows what? I bet the police ran him and have a good idea what is really going on. Now they probably just have to play it down until she returns to his house. It will happen, but it may take time. The neighbors could probably tell the police when the car was last seen there.
Obviously she lives in the area if she was at the store.I can't remember the last time I stole a car to go grocery shopping in the neighborhood. lol.

I agree. I don't buy the story at all. I don't think that if you and I believe it, that the police believe it either. I am sure they are just waiting. There is no way if you had a car stolen you wouldn't report it. Just too odd.

Years ago my cousin was traveling to the east coast from Iowa. There was an emergency (her dad had been shot) The family gave the police her license number and within a day they found her several states away at a motel for the night.

Surely they could find this lady if they'd just run her license number to all their police on duty .

I don't know how to take a picture with my cellphone, but have a small camera with me often. Seems like someone there could have snapped a photo or even shot a little video on their phone. Too bad for those little kids. Pressing charges might still be a good idea and it's probably not too late. That could cause them to pick her sooner and add to the charges, making it harder for her to continue with this stuff. If she's angry enough to assault a complete stranger who simply questioned her actions, imagine what she's probably doing to those kids right now. It's great that you stepped up and confronted her. Wondering if police or CPS asked to see film from store's parking lot security cameras...most stores have them these days & maybe be able ID this child abuser. (What kind of Mother would use those tactics & language on a tiny child? Infuriates me!!)

It's the way local police found the person who damaged my friend's car to the tune of $2000 then drove away.
