Grocery store amies
Comments (9)I am laughing at you, Jodi! The only place I go lately is the grocery store and it is a very community friendly place. When they had a lot of daffodil bulbs left over they gave them to the churches and community care center. Now I see them deciding to make these bulbs available to those of us in the community that want them rather then just tossing them! Living on an Island is special in just this way...we are a community and one that cares about keeping our Island special. What a wondeful day it was back on our 6th wedding anniversary when I asked my hubby if we could make the ferry trip over to Vashon Island as a special treat! My Dad was born here in 1915, and he had never brought us to see it even though he spent the rest of his life within 100 miles of it. Well, we stopped at a realtors office just to check what was available and the price range (We were 28 years old and eligible for the GI loan) and went home with an offer on the house where we would spend the next 26 year and raise our 5 kids! 9 years ago we moved south on the Island and bought our 4 acres and I started my cut flower business. We do not allow Walmart or Target or those kinds of stores over here...and so do not have them available to shop. I would have to take a ferry to the city to hit up those deals! Most of my shopping is over the internet, so when I saw these at the local grocery I certainly nabbed them! Some are in pretty poor shape...probably with the knowledge I have gained on this forum, one of the few people to whom they have any value..but I am thinking of trying scaling on the most pitiful of them. At this price, They make good practice material! I don't know if any are left but if anyone wants a double dragon at this price plus mailing let me know real quick! I will be going to town later today....See MoreHand Applique: Lesson Two
Comments (15)Hi Jen I've been watching the threads for this - do you mind if I try working along with you but using a applique pattern that I was 'allocated' last night at a little once a month group I go to - its a pattern I liked and said to the organiser I' like to do sometime - I guess sometime is NOW Its a french pattern with appliqued rows - eg row 1 flowers, row 2 6 chickens and eggs, row bird houses, row 4 sheep, row 5 apples, row 7 flowers again (1 even may be missing a row here!) - I could fuse it but want to do a proper job and may call on help Thanks Ethne...See Moresingles scence at the grocery store?
Comments (31)I joined a local social group that includes couples, married couples, and singles. The ages range from late 20-something to 80-something. They meet once a month and anyone can suggest and coordinate an activity. There are camping trips, day hikes, dinner outings, art walks, parties, events, movie outings, music performances, lots of things. I participate from time to time, though lately I've been working out of town. It is not a singles group, just a social group. It sounds like something you might enjoy, Jonesny. Dues are $12 a year to cover mailing and copying costs. Ours is called "Adventure Club." I don't know if it is affiliated with other Adventure Clubs but the clubs in this link sound similar. Maybe there is one in your area. Here is a link that might be useful: Adventure Clubs...See MoreOur first official trip to the grocery store...
Comments (21)That is kind of how my kids learned to add very well. They knew that if I had extra money left at the end of shopping they'd get a treat. So we'd have peanut butter on the list say, and they'd decide do we want the expensive one or the cheaper one. Sometimes the answer was expensive for taste, other times they'd get the cheaper, see what I'd planned to spend on the item (yes the budget was so tight that I knew prices even), and if we saved enough...treat! DD#1 has the rule, if you beg for it, you will NOT get it. If you're good in the store you can pick out a treat. This is great, until they beg for a Plum (DS did this), how do you say no to plums? Non-junk food was my only exception. Vickey (PS, adopt me too, your a fun mom)...See Morepetalique
