Unknown grocery store bought Cycad... and irregular new growth

Here are a couple of Cycads I bought from a grocery store recently.

One is a "Cardboard Palm" cycad I believe.

I can't figure out this bigger one thou. Has smaller, less thick, slicker leaves than the "Cardboard".

Any ideas what it is, it must be somewhat common. When I bought the plant it has three new growths starting, about a centimeter long. I thought the new growth would grow nice and clean if I left the plant alone, but it grew all irregular and wacky... why the crazy irregular growth? Could I cut it off, and hope for better new growth, or will that set the plant back?

Should I just repot these in larger pots now, I was waiting for dormancy, and hope for regular future normal growth?

Here is the "Cardboard Palm" below, with one new growth.

Also I am curious how old these plants are, how long does it take for them to grow those bulb-like trunks?

Thanks for any help.
