Do You Keep in Touch?

with previous co-workers?

When I left the university I told many of my coworkers that I would keep in touch...and I have. My closest friends and I correspond on a regular basis at least once or twice a week.

Some others that I have written to I haven't heard back from though. I know they are busy and life can get crazy but I hope to receive a simple "Hi" once in a while.

Do you keep in touch with old co-workers?

I sure do! The OLD retired gals (me included) meet for lunch once a month.

The men & women that are retired meet for breakfast once a month, but they go too early for me--LOL

I also get together with the youngins that are still working several times a yr. Heck, we are one big family!

Oh yes, I like getting update on their Families. I still get together with Co-Workers for lunch too.

Consider also that with long leaves you don't have to prune the entire leaf, just the lower part. Another option would be to tie the middle of the leaves into a higher position. Or try different tactics and see what works best.

That was the year I didn't get to go.....and I love pickled tongue! The last time I talked to Pat Lavendar was last summer and she was thinking about moving to Salem, OR......her daughter and son in law were moving there, too along with Megan's inlaws. She and Ron have had a lot of health issues.....so much she gave up her Web TV. Last time I saw FrancEs, she was depressed but she still had that wonderful sense of humor and the great smile.

Hello, Everyone (I guess that's you, gurley157fs, since no one else seems to be around anymore) This has been one heck of a day - governed entirely by Murphy's Law. Right now, I am hardly fit company for man nor beast. My morning began with an overflowing toilet, followed by a kitchen drain clogged. Then the rain began and I discovered roof was leaking in two places. When the rain slowed I drove down to the mailbox to get the newspaper and yesterday's mail which I had not picked up - all were soaking wet. This afternoon more rain along with a few minutes of heavy hail (small, but damaging) which pounded a bunch of plants in the ground. I finally have the kitchen drain open - it drains slowly, but at least it drains. Tomorrow morning one of my neighbors is coming over to work on the plumbing and check out the roof. Fortunately, I have two bathrooms and the 2nd bathroom is working OK (but I'm keeping my fingers crossed). The dogs have had no choice but to go out in the rain today and I have been too busy with other things to stop them at the back door and wipe the mud off their paws, so I have dirty paw prints all over - and the house smells like wet dogs. OK, enough complaining. Now I take a deep breath and get on with life. On Sunday evenings or Monday mornings, I make a "to do" list of things I want to accomplish during the week. I try to break it down by each day. Invariably, I always have one or two things I don't manage to get done on the assigned day, so they get carried over to the next day. If a chore keeps getting shoved aside, at the end of the week I decide it probably doesn't need to be done after all and I cross it off anyway (though sometime in the near future it gets put back on the list) Everything on today's list got carried over. Just now and then I manage to get everything on the week's list done......Then I feel really good about having accomplished it all. Hydrangea bushes are bending nearly to the ground with their heavy mopheads - gardenia bush beneath my bathroom window offers it's own aromatherapy - roses are in full bloom, but looking rather ragged with all the wind and rain. Butterflies and hummingbirds are delighted with butterfly bushes, lantana, black eyed Susans, shastas, alstromeria, day lilies, and all the other little wild flowers (AKA weeds) My yard and gardens are extremely unkempt this year for the first time ever. Just haven't had the energy needed to get it all done. I know everyone is busy with vacations, gardening, etc., but would love to see you stop by now and then - just to "Keep In Touch". No need to write a novel each time, as some of us are prone to do - just say "Hi".

Yes we get together for lunch about once a week and for dinner sometimes too.

Absolutely. The first job I worked when we moved to Southern California in 1973 was a little computer company. I worked on their production line but became an apprentice draftsman when my supervisor caught me drawing cartoons instead of working. He assigned me a job creating assembly drawings that the other line workers (mostly Hispanic) could understand. Once Engineers saw my drawings I was asked to join the Design Services Dept.

A few years ago I made it my personal goal to find that supervisor and thank him for getting me started in a great career. I did find him about five years ago and we still keep in touch.

The same company has had a reunion every year the first Thursday in December.

The next company I worked for (for 19 years starting in 1976) was also a computer company (DEC). They have a reunion every December on the second Thursday. I don't know what I would do if the two companies had their reunions on the same night.

I love keeping in touch with old friends, classmates and co-workers and as such, run an alumni site for my high school.

I sure do. The last place I worked, I was there for 22 years, I have been gone for 5 years. We email each other all the time and this is a very small town, so I run into a former co-worker just about every time I go anywhere. I worked with a lot of really good people who I am proud to call my friends.

Yes, but not as often as I'd like to.
Our company has dinners a couple of times a year, plus other group outings. Next month we're going on an overnight casino trip in Iowa somewhere. Meskwaki, in Tama Iowa. Anybody close to that?

not really...i do have one gal-pal who i do email when she's on, but she's the only one...distance is a bummer..she's still on the west coast...

I was at my last job almost 17 yrs. & made a lot of good friends there. We were almost like a family, so yes, I do keep in touch via email with a lot of them. Some I just send Christmas cards to but don't correspond with during the year.

For the most part my co-workers were just that - co-workers. We were all friendly, occasionally had lunch, but there was no true friendship. Our outside interests were just different. These were not people I invited over for dinner or a pool party. They were the people I worked with.

There are a few I exchange an occasional email with, but it's a very few.
