Did you ever have Reiki done?

I've been doctoring(chiropractor) for my back. Had lots of pain down my left leg. I get a massage everytime I go. The guy that did my massage the last 2 times also does Reiki. I love it! Such a warm relaxing type of treatment.

It's made my leg and back feel so much better! He said I have lots of good energy. His hands get so hot when he's working on me. If you've had it done,did you like it?

No, but I work for a chiropractor and would love to learn about it. Is it someone seperate from the chiropractor that does it? Sounds quite awesome.

It isn't the chiropractor himself that does it. He has lots of different people that work for him. This is the masseuse that does the Reiki. Dr doesn't offer this as a service. The masseuse asked me if I ever heard of it. I said yes.My sister knows how to do it. So he asked if I'd like it done. Of course I said yes. I was excited,I've seen it in action from my sister. I think everyone should experience Reiki at least once. Oh my! So relaxing and makes you feel so good!

Geraldine, I've done pretty much any kind of fiddling with stitches there is. It's amazing what you can hide if you work at it. Disclaimer - That doesn't apply to dead bodies!!

Yes, 2littlefishies kitchen is inspiring. The difference I see between what she did and what we're thinking of is that her oven cabinet picks up on the color of the cabinets next to it. For ours, the color would be a stand-alone hue next to wood cabinets. This seems...trickier. I'm hoping balancing it with a same colored hutch on the other side of the room would help. Looking at houzz for 2 tone kitchens was helpful. Thanks crl. Nice job on your kitchen, Otterkill. That was a really creative way to repurpose the desk area. : ) Ahh, Rhome's kitchen. Thanks for the reminder of hers, GreenDesigns. I like how her ovens blend with the cabinets adjacent to them. That's a good example of a multi color kitchen. Wow, cilantro, I didn't know Wolf had their own cabinets. Those are interesting. Some of those are quite fancy! I searched through David T. Smith kitchen images on Google as well as Smallbone and Plain English looking for inspiration. A lot of the images seem to be protected so that I couldn't put them in my photobucket, so I collected them into a Pinterest board instead, which I've linked below. There is one in particular that is a combo of maple, cream and green that comes close to the color combos I was thinking of doing. (I wish I could see the other side of the kitchen to know if there's a wall oven hiding over there.) David T. Smith's designs are interesting, too. But, many of them read somber and sometimes "dirty" to me, as can some of the primitive style decorating. (Prim is live and kickin' in our area.) I happen to like country, and it would be appropriate to our house and location, but I don't want our kitchen to read dark or dirty. With our kitchen facing north, I also don't want it to feel cavelike. DH's original suggestion was to a black oven cabinet to offset the weight of the black fridge, but...again, that might be too dark. Our cabs have some black lines to shade the shadow lines, so black looks incredible with them, though. The layout is included on the pinboard. If anyone wants to check it out and share more thoughts, I'd appreciate it. Thank you all for your input! cyn, thank you sincerely for your posts, as without them, I would not have known that others may have interpreted my post, as you did, and I need to correct that immediately! Firstly, thanks for informing us that the word 'racism' was actually coined in 1902, much earlier than I thought. Since many people obviously behaved in ways in the late 50's/early 60's that were definitely racist, I actually don't recall ever hearing the word 'racism' when I was little, so I guess I thought the words came into usage much later. But more importantly, roarah is precisely correct in understanding that I meant racism was APPARENTLY 'acceptable' meaning it was WRONGLY TOLERATED. Yikes, I hope everyone will now understand (with my apology to those who didn't) that I was not accurate and precise enough with my wording to make that perfectly clear! Also, I guess I need to clarify that I had never heard the 'N' word before, so I did not have a clue what it meant. It was NEVER said in my house by my parents, or said on our street (that's why I mentioned "I did not even know what the 'N' word was, nor did my friends, I'm sure.") I had never heard it until starting school, where it was used in "Eenie, meenie..." before a game was begun, to see who was the starter of the game or "It." So I was meaning that I regretted participating in the schoolyard chant with no knowledge of the word, having never heard it at home or among my little friends on our street. Thanks again cyn, for giving me the opportunity to fully clarify my poor wording.

Yes, totally forget...movies too. I never understood people who could recite passages from books or movies they watched years ago. There are some that stick out in my mind, though. The other day I was reading a book about animals that start killing all the humans they come into contact with, including peoples' pet dogs. I got up in the middle of the night to use the restroom and there is my dog, Chewie, who sleeps up against my door. He gave me a weird look and it kind of creeped me out. lol. Went to the bathroom, got back in bed and started reading again, but apparently when I put my shoes up that night I didn't close the door to my closet all the way. I remembered a Stephen King story called "The Boogyman", it starts with a closet that's cracked open just a little. Well, I had to get up again and close that dang door. I read that story when I was a teenager and it still creeps me out. I'm 53 now and cannot sleep with a closet open. I don't remember most of the story but I do remember it wasn't good for the characters in it. I may have to reread it just for the fun of it. It was from "Nightshift"...a bunch of short stories and I used to own it. I'm now reading one of his son's book of short stories, "20th Century Ghosts". Not sure I like him as much as his father.

Yes, from a dear friend years ago. I really liked it. We do not live near each other or I would ask for treatments. I know we have some practitioners around here, but since anyone can say anything about themselves, I don't trust they are the real thing. My friend spends lots of time in the hospital with the sick and dying.

No but I would definitely try it! I just started cranio-sacral therapy. I'm getting it free because my friend goes and let me know that the CST was training an apprentice and they needed people to work on. I also just started acupuncture, unfortunately not for free, lol. Western medicine has failed me on a few health concerns I'm trying to address so I figured I'd go the other way. Nobody is trying to shove drugs down my throat on this route. :)

My daughter has a friend that does this, and the friend is also a psychologist. My daughter said it was wonderful and I should go. She also did it to one of my GDs and they think it's great.

I have never had Reiki done but my aunt did when she had lung/brain cancer. It didn't affect the outcome of her disease but said it made her illness easier to deal with over the long run.
I had severe neck pain for almost a year.....saw the MD, had physical therapy, did the exercises, saw the chiropractor and finally started acupuncture. The chiropractor helped for about a week.
I had four acupuncture treatments over six weeks and it has been miraculous.......and I didn't really have high hopes for a cure.
It has been almost a month and I still have minimal to no neck pain despite doing all the activities which exaberated it. (Cooking, reading, computer time.)
I had no insurance but it was well worth the money. I was able to get a senior discount and the treatments were $55 each time.
