I think it would be great if you made the 3/5 card yourself. Sounds like a fun and useful shower. Sorry you have to miss the party.

If they didn't give you any instructions, just do whatever you want. If you are a scrapbooker, I'm sure you'll do something attractive, or you could even type it up on the computer with some inserted graphics. That would probably be the easiest. Maybe they are going to make a binder with plastic sleeves and just insert the recipes. In that case you could do a Word doc and stick on some scrapbooking goodies.

I submitted a chile relleno receipe for something like this once. I typed it up as a Word document, inserted a line of green chiles across the top of the page and a row of Mexican hats across the bottom. It looked cute, especially since I had a color printer to print it on.

What a great idea. I've never heard of a recipe shower. I agree you should create a 3x5 card with your scrapbooking supplies. Maybe send a full page version along with it so they can use it for a binder OR card file.

years ago I remember showers like this and you would also bring an ingredient or two. Non-perishable ingredients. These showers were big hits; especially when a bride had had numerous other showers.

I've never heard of that kind of shower but it's a GREAT idea!! Useful and fun, too! I'd love to hear about how the shower works--do you bring just one recipe or several? Does everyone get to read the other recipes?

I like the idea of taking a couple of the ingredients, too. Wow! Wonder why I've never heard of it before!!!

I was given a shower like that. The recipes were written on all sorts of cards/papers. At mine, given by my aunts, guests also gave me a specialty kitchen utensil that you would need for that recipe, small items. Like for a bundt cake, the giver also gave me the bundt pan. Someone gave me a cheesecake recipe and a springform pan to bake it in. If the directions included "wisk," it came with a set of kitchen wisks. You get the idea.

This idea is the best, most practical that I've ever heard of. And Steph's addition of what was done at her shower only enhances the idea.

A recipe shower sounds like a hreat idea! Just buy a pack of 3 X 5 cards and hand-write a recipe (or two). I would write out three-an appetizer, main dish, and a dessert. Any bride would love this sort of thing!

Or just write it out...
I love looking through my mother's collection of recipes.
Some are on cards, some are torn from magazines, and others are xeroxed from various things. My favorites are the ones hand-written by my grandmother and various friends through the years.

I think whatever you decide to do will be just fine. I think making one is a great idea.

I think I would ask the hostess if there is a preferred format (3x5 cards, for example) and then follow that. The addition of the essential tool for making the particular recipe would be a bonus..and equip the bride-to-be's kitchen also.

Thanks! I think I'll just make my own card and a note. This is a second marriage for the bride so I'll probably skip sending additional items.

I have never hear of this either, but i think it is a great idea, sorry you can't go, but I am sure they will love have ever you send.
