Sparkly Pink Punch
2 6oz. cans frozen pink lemonade
1 6oz. can pineapple juice
1 gallon cranberry juice
4 cups crushed ice
2 liters gingerale
mix all juices, add ice, slowly add gingerale

I hate the games, the only thing I've ever done is hand out cards to all the guests and have them write down their best mothering advice.

unless the mom to be likes games, we just don't bother with them anymore. if they insist, just do a seach for "baby-shower games"..

found this punch...just eliminate the alcohol..chose it to complement your tortilla wraps...

if it's still cold weather, i'd offer hot teas, and coffee and small bottled waters...i've done a hot apple/spice thing in a coffe pot. in the basket instead of grounds place cinnamon, few cloves, (or tea bags) and let the apple juice steep over them...

oh the favors? i bought the cheapie baby spoons and wrapped them with a hershey kiss, and the flower of the birth month. if mom knows the sex add the blue or pink ribbon...you could also dollar store items...

Skip the games. There's not a one of them that isn't annoying, LOL. Pretty much everyone I know just grits their teeth and participates because they're expected to.

I so want to skip the games but the gramma is insistant so I will grit my teeth also! Going to check out the link and that is the recipe I am using going to get the stuff in a bit! Thanks

Let grandma do the games. Or ask the mom-to-be. It would be her choice. I too don't like games, as people would rather visit. One easy game, is to take the alphabet, divide it into sections, and people put down names. Funnier the better, no winner, just fun.

I'm another one who doesn't like shower games, but since the grandma is insisting, it is good that you oblige!

This one is less "obtrusive" than others, so I feel guests don't mind it as much as the pencil and paper games. Every guest gets a small pink clothespin to clip onto their collar with instructions that they cannot say 1 or 2 specific words during the shower. Good words to use would be "baby" "name of the mother to be" and "grandma". If any of those words are spoken, anyone can steal the offenders clothespin. Guest with the most clothespins wins a small prize. It's hard NOT to reference the mother to be by name!

Another game would be to fill a baby bottle with M&M's, and everyone guesses how many M&M's are in the bottle.

There is also the "dirty diaper" game...which is four different candy bars, each smooshed up in individual small disposable diapers. Guests identify the candy bars by looks and smell. It was disgusting, but sure had us all laughing.

I know of one that really isn't a game so much.
We made tiny diapers that we pinned with tiny little safety pins on each guest as they arrived. They were not to open them until later.
As the shower is coming to an end, everyone is asked to take off their diaper pin, and open them up. In one of the diapers we had spread a tiny bit of mustard.
The person that ends up with the "dirty diaper" wins a prize.
Easy, inexpensive, unexpected and fun..

I too hate baby shower games, but the one I always do and is not obtrusive is "guess what's in the baby food jars". I get 10 to 12 jars of different types of baby food, making sure some are close in color and texture. Take the labels off and number them, making sure you know whats in each. Place paper and a pen next to the jars and have each guest write down what they think is in the jars, BUT making sure they do not open the lids. It doesn't take any time away from the shower which I like and brings back alot of memories for those of us whose kids are older.

Last baby shower I attended we played the same games as Houstonmom. They used baby foods in the diapers though... looked silly to see grown women sniffing the diapers to figure out what type of food it was. I skipped that game. lol

There's the game where you pass around a roll of toilet paper and ask people to tear some off. The person who gets the closest to the size of the pregnant woman's waist wins a prize. I've played it where you know you are trying to go around her waist and I've also played where you don't know what the length of TP is for.

We have the house decorated...Syd and I have to try and drive stakes with balloons in the frozen ground from town to here to show people where we live.......but other then that...the most exciting thing is the cake the lady is making we pic it up at 10 in the morning in Muskogee and I willl take pics...she drew it out for us and it I pray is going to be awesome! We used to do a clothspin game similar to houstonmom's, but we weren't allowed to cross our legs. If you did, and were caught you lost your pin to the person who caught you. Person with the most pins wins. Another was two pie plates with 2 dice in each. Prizes in the middle of the group. We would send a plate each direction so it went faster. If you rolled a double, you got a prize, but you couldn't open it. If you wanted a prize someone else had, you could steal it. It was usually timed, and could go for a bit after all the prizes in the middle were gone, as we all had a blast stealing something that looked good from each other. When time was up, you could open what you had, if you still had it! Have fun!

Last 3 baby showers I went to played: Let each person pull a length of toilet paper off a roll, the one that's piece fits around mom-to-be the closest wins.2nd game, fill a bowl with uncooked plain white rice. Mix in several packages of loose safety pins. Hold the bowl over each persons head, they reach up and grab a handfull of rice and pins. The person who grabs the most safety pins wins. You need a 2nd person to be standing there with a bowl or styrofoam plate that the player can dump their handfull of rice and pins in and it can be counted before dumping back in the rice & pin bowl. It is a lot of fun when you can get male guests to play too. 3rd. game have a list of items used for baby, scramble words and see who is first to unscramble correctly all words. You can see I have been to baby showers with the past 6 months. Oh, nice suggestion, ask everybody to give a book instead of a card with gift. I found a baby cloth book at one of the craft shows I did for last baby. Mom-to-be really liked it.

One of the "games" we played at the shower I gave my #2DDIL was a big hit. I bought a bunch of things for the new baby, many of them from the Dollar Store, but several nice things too. Everyone was invited to look over the items and then write down what they thought the total cost was. Closest was the winner. It cost me about $43 and then then DDIL got to take it all home as her gift.

Or a tray of baby items to be passed around, and everyone write down what they remember to be on the tray. Then the mom to be gets the items from the tray after the game.

One other 'quick' game is to purchase a baby bottle (I found a novelty one back when-it was 1 qt. size! Fill w/Jelly Beans & everyone gets a paper -puts their name & estimate of how many jelly beans are in it..closest one wins a prize. The bottle of beans however...goes to the 'baby daddy' to munch on while she's in labor!

Another-to pencil game:
(YOU).Write down a list of things about the mom-to be...
and you'll have everyone stand up. It's an 'elimination thing' and the last one standing-wins. Such as:

If the mom is wearing a green top/dress, you'd say: "If you don't have any green clothing (like mom) on today-sit down!"

If you don't live in the same town as mom..sit down!

(If you know the sex of the baby).."Mommy's having a girl...if you don't have a girl...sit down!"

etc, etc.

I've played the "memory game" described by Tami. It's always fun. You can change the items for the occasion=wedding, new home, baby shower,etc.

speaking of the daddy... i made a daddy care package for my best friend..imcluded a how to book on baby care, asprin, diaper pins (way long ago, lol) snacks, pb to make his own dinner, ect...it was almost better than a game...put it in a basket for baby's nap time...
