some Americana decor in my home ..4 pictures

After seeing some of the patriotic decor in pictures the past couple of days I thought I would post some of mine. I love Americana.

There are a couple small wall hangings missing from the wall. You can see the nails. Everytime Luther goes upstairs his wagging tail knocks those same two off the wall. I just haven't bothered to put them back and put some two sided tape on the back of them.

Luvs you always do such great painting, love them all!! sooo cute Linda love your stars, was looking for something to put in my yard,have to give it a try, love your sheep also, great job! on the jars I spounged on a paint I got at a yard sale called kellys glass stain, says its permanent when dryed, can be used on glass or plastic, thats about all it says on the bottle, for the stars I cut them out of contact paper and left on till I was done with spoungeing, I out lined the stars with a paint pen,you can do the same with any paint you have on hand, was thinking the white glue with food coloring might work also, maybe dust with glitter. LindaC, that may be, and we'll never actually know. She said she was lying on a towel on the cement pool deck and got really hot, and started feeling sick to her stomach so she jumped into the pool to cool off. That's all she remembers. However, Amanda has grand mal seizures, the kind with a lot of involuntary muscular movements. Ashley has been present since that time when Amanda has had a seizure and says that she didn't have a seizure in the pool, she just jumped in and suddenly sank to the bottom with no thrashing or flailing. Amanda had never had a seizure before that incident. Since Ashley was there and described it to the neurologist, and it didn't appear that she had a seizure in the pool because the type of seizures she now experiences is very noticeable, the doctors all agree that they think she had some type of physical reaction going from so hot to so cool so quickly and passed out. I guess, at this point, the cause doesn't matter, only the effect. I do know that I'm darned lucky to still have her and equally lucky that her seizures are very well controlled with medication. She has had four that we know of in her lifetime, and none in the last five years, but she tried to go off her medication when she was 24 and that's when she had the last one. Annie

Luvs and Belle, Is there any way to get rid of my post I messed up on? Luvs, I hope you find your book so you can finish your projects. They sound pretty cute and I'm sure you won't rest until you find it. How was time with DGD? I will be getting my grandma fix this weekend and can hardly wait. She is going to preschool and taking dance so I haven't gotten to see her during the week much. Oh Luvs, DGD just turned 4 in June so she must be a year younger than your GD. Our GD would rather eat steak than mac and cheese so I always ask what she wants for dinner and she always comes up with something. She's just starting to eat pretty well. So it's fun to watch when she's really hungry. I noticed the change when she was going to swimming lessons and then swimming an extra hour. My teapot, shoes, plates, napkins and rings were my DM. I'm sure a few of the witches were also. Most of them do a dance, talk or something so can't resit buying something new every year and I never get everything out to decorate every year. Our shop is so full of decorations that I need to quit buying but they keep coming out with new ones I can't resist and especially if I can pick them up when they are on sale. I will try to get the rest of my decorations out and post a few more pictures. Quit taking DH shopping with you and then you won't have to see that head nod, woman!!! Mine does that also and I just ignore it. Sometimes I'll grab a couple more things and give him the look just to show him I can.LOL Thanks for the idea of looking up bug art. I wanted a pattern I could just copy but it's not that I couldn't come up with something if I need to. I am going to buy JMP latest book. Have you seen it? She is a favorite of mine for sure and I can hardly wait to get it. No bugs in it though. I don't know if Sam's Club is part of WalMart but we will be getting a new Super WalMart near us so that may be nice. They have been trying to get the ok since 2003 and just got a ruling this week for the go ahead. Will close and try to get back here this weekend. Punk I don't want to sound negative but last year my camera quit working right and I called the company and was told they didn't know how to fix it so the kids bought me a new one for Christmas. Seems like no matter how expensive they are, we only get 2-3 years out of them before something goes dingy. We use ours alot so maybe thats why.

Thanks for the compliments. The cabinet in the bottom picture was made for me by a man from Alabama that used to come to the flea market years ago. He also made me two large bookshelves, a coffee table and two end tables. He was so talented. One weekend a lot of vendors selling t-shirts and purses showed up at the flea market. The next month there were more of them. That was a few years ago. Slowly the craftsmen and women left and more and more t-shirts, purses and and a lot of crafts " made in China " started showing up. I never missed a flea market for almost 25 years. Now I may go once or twice a year to see if anything has changed.
I still have the end tables. When Bob and I got married he wanted to use the coffee table that had belonged to his mother. It's a nice table, but it didn't go with the rest of the furniture and accessories we had. I agree to use it anyway because it meant so much to him. Three years ago we saw a coffee table that has a pop up top on it. Bob likes to sit in the living room and eat supper so we got that one. His mother's table is now upstairs.
When I had the bookshelves made I had tall ceilings. When we moved we had 8 foot ceilings and the bookshelves didn't fit. The people who bought our old house kept them.

love it! At our last home I had tons of room over our cupboards and our kitchen was seriously about three times bigger than our kitchen here (our kitchen here is average, there it was HUGE)... I had all Americana in it. I cried when I sold most of it. Oh well... you have that like the same as I do it seems.

Wasn't there another post here about Patriotic decor this week?? I was sure ther was,but i went back 9 pages and couldn't find it.

By the way,Linda,i like yours as well.Love the staircase and the b'houses.

Linda - looks great! Could you please tell me the name of the paint color on the wall by the stairs? I like that a lot and am planning to repaint my walls.

suzieque ~ it's some kind of antique white. It's not a great paint. It's the contractor grade that was put on before we moved in. I tried to find out the name of it when we first bought the house to put in my home owner's journal, but there was a rift between the realtor and the builder and each of them said the other one had the information. I do know it's Sherwin Williams.
