Patti, I bought my daughter (the one with the kids) a dyson. Both her, and her hubby love it. But they don't have dog hair to pick up.

My other daughter and I have a rainbow. We both have dust allergies, and with a rainbow you never have any dust escape, as it all gets filtered by water.

From all I had heard, the dyson was top. That is why I bought Lori the dyson.

I have and love the Shark navigator lift away pro, best vacuum I have had. There's been several threads here about this vacuum many people bought it. Shark has several models. Try doing a search here on KT for Shark vacuum.

Shark bagless was listed 11 on the list. I bought the Hoover bagless on sell at Sears for $89. It had an excellent rating for pet hair. So far I like it. Cheapest vacuum I have ever bought. Had an Electrosux that lasted 31 years.

I like my Hoover Windtunnel!

Based in large part on Ravencajun's recommendation, I bought the Shark Professional Navigator Lift-Away ($200). I really liked it, but, after using it, I started hating my Electrolux and WindTunnel...so I bought a Shark Rotator Professional Lift-Away 3-in-1 Vacuum ($250) for another level of the house. I gave away the Electrolux and WindTunnel...and as soon as the downstairs vacuum dies, I plan to buy another Rotator Pro Lift-Away 3-in-1! I got them from Bedbathandbeyond.com - and used 20% off coupons, which meant the more expensive one was only $200. (I think the more expensive one is worth the price difference, at least for me.)

I have 4 indoor cats and own the Dyson Animal and love it.

I bought my dyson on a woot special for $200 + free shipping. They have them on there quite frequently. It picks up lots of pet hair! I love thats its bagless. The attachments are easy to use as well. I'f like to get one for downstairs so I wouldn't have to carry it up and down the stairs (not heavy-just for convenience) but I'm not shelling out that $$ for just one room that is carpeted-although I could use it on the tile. Hoping to find another at a yard or estate sale. Just missed one last year!

Dyson - hands-down the BEST vac I've ever had.

I have the Shark Navigator Lift Away and am very pleased with it. I never had a Dyson so I don't know if it would be better.

I have three Dysons, love them all!

I have a Hoover Wind Tunnel, a Dirt Devil Pro Brush, a Bissell Power Force and a Bissell Clean View Helix. They all are used in different areas of my house ie house, garage, Florida room.

For the best all-around cleaning, I like my Hoover Wind Tunnel, which picks up everything from our bamboo floors in the house. It uses bags (the other 3 are bagless), but filters the air much better than the others.

I retired my Dyson because it got to be too heavy for me. On Raven's recommendation, I bought a Shark Navigator Pro and love it. My son and DIL have the slightly less expensive Shark Navigator and love that one too.

Another vote for Dyson. Mine is at least 10 years old with no problems.

Dyson! have had 3 so far and some are heavier than others. My yellow one is the lightest, pinky/red one is medium weight and the purple is the heaviest and the most used. Some times I have to set the beater bar setting higher because it sucks too much. It does an amazing job, almost embarrassing to see what we bring inside! I still remember the first time we used the dyson all over the house. It was exceptional! I had an older windtunnel before the dyson. I think the dyson just sucked that lousy thing up and tossed it in the trash.
I have one for the main floor and one in the basement. Gave one to my son. I think he gave it to his old landlord and I will never see it again.

I like my Shark Navigator Lift Off, really think the pet hair adaptor works great!
