Hi Dotmom, I'm fine. Other way around is more like it. Went out and sat on the boulders in the yard to keep the boulders from blowing away. It was pretty windy for a while and some heavy rain. Not all that bad in my area. There's about 23,000 houses without power. I have mine - I lost my power *last* weekend! (And when I called in to report it, they called me back and said "Nobody ELSE has complained! Did you check your equipment?"

Just got back home. Went out for breakfast. There's a lot of small branches down and I saw the power company truck driving around. The stop lights on the highway are out.

I just got my trees trimmed up last week and I'm glad I did it then. Could have damaged my roof, which I just replaced last year.

There were some big storms that slipped south of me. I was tracking them from when they were a little west of St. Cloud and I thought they'd track south of me.

It's kind of funny. My cat LOVES a good storm! When this started up, she awoke, stretched and sat there about 10 seconds listening and looking around and that was it. She headed to the window to watch! I've never seen an animal enjoy storms so we're a good match.

LOL. Ya, you never know where those boulders are going to fly to. It's funny how your cats like storms. Buster seems to want to come and sit by me when the thunder gets going. I remember how frightened our dogs would get during a loud storm. I tried to call my Sis who lives in St. Louis Park, and no answer. They have a cordless phone and maybe their power is out....or....they are at the Casino. It's bro-in-laws B'day today, so more than likely that is where they are. I'll try them later today.
Glad you and yours survived this latest storm, Cynic, and i guess we can be sure it won't be the last for this summer.

Rather turbulent weather in the state this year. Lots of tornadoes, lots of hail. Plenty of humid days. Ah, but winter isn't far off!

How's sis doing after her injury? Did anyone ever find the body??? :)

We got 3 more inches of rain last night, and it lightened steady for hours on end. Just seems like one storm after another. I am east of St. Cloud.

Thanks for asking, Cynic. Sis is doing great aft6er having her knee surgery. I don't think there is any cure for her bad temper, after all, she's the Taz. But we love her just the way she is.
To be honest, I really don't remember what the weather was year to year. When they are predicting coming storms, I just think Oh, that's Minnesota in the summer.

Have you long timers ever seen anything like this series of torrential--deluge type--rains we've had this summer? I've now been in MN 21 years but I don't remember anything like this. Literally, when it rains it pours!--and I mean pours! I'm in the middle of St. Paul and we had huge winds and another deluge last night--the street turned into a veritable river. And we've had a series of these torrents! What gives???

Marita40, glad to see another hearty Minnesotan among us. It seems like those of you in the southern third of our state have had the worst weather, with the exception of Wadena county. When that city and surrounding area was hit by a tornado a couple weeks ago, made me pay more attention. We moved here, from 4 miles from that city.

I don't know that I'd call this all that unusual. I've lived in MN all my life. What I found unusual was the excessive amount of ice last winter. And with physical issues, the ice really causes me trouble. A good storm or two isn't unusual, winter or summer. Good heavy rains, sometimes a wet basement here and there, but actually what's been different is that, for instance last winter we got more of an average amount of snowfall, which we haven't had for many years. Had some more cold snaps that we haven't had for years, but are more normal. And during the summer to get the hot humid stretches is normal too but we've had some mild summers the past years too so it seems unusual when we see it.

Remember the "Superstorm" some years back? Yeah, THAT put water in peoples' basements! And back in the days when I'd camp, I remember quite a few deluges of rain! :)

I can't stand hot, sticky weather. Give me the cold any day.
