Accoring to the newspapers, Long Island had 101 degrees yesterday (Tuesday) and New York City (30 miles west of us) hit 103. yet my backyard thermometer only (?) got up to 96. Regardless, it was HOT. Today will be another bad one, but slightly cooler ("only" 90) starting Thursday. How is it by you?

Some daylilies have that character and some don't. When the leaves are brown and crispy I pull them off. If they are yellow you may want to wait till they turn brown. I don't think it will hurt the plant though if you do decide to pull them off. As long as there are plenty of green ones left. Daylilies are pretty hardy.

No tanning been done here, vegetables and flowers are struggling. I'm in the PNW - Canadian side and it is wetter and cooler than normal. Flooding is becoming a concern but forest fires are not. I think our forest-fire fighters are in Colorado right now and before that they were in northern Ontario.

I'm in Wisconsin and while it been soupy hot here, we've had lots of rain. We've had so much rain that I now have waterfront property, lol. Seriously though, there is nothing worse than a drought and hot, hot weather. I hope you get lots of moisture soon. Our lakes are finally back up to where they're supposed to be. We have had dryer than normal years lately and the lakes and rivers were down. While I'm a bit sick of all the rain we've had, I'm glad that we got it this year. BTW - the humidty has dropped and it's down to 67 while I type this. Very nice if I do say so myself.

10:30pm here and still 94*! Took DGS to the movies this afternoon and my car thermometer read 119* when we got out. It then cooled down to 107*. Triple digits are forecast for the next 5 days. We live in southwest corner of Utah, just 2hours from Las Vegas. Kids started school 2 weeks ago and school busses are not air conditioned, HOT! HOT! HOT!!

According to my weather gal, it takes 3 straight days of over 90Â° to qualify as a heat wave. This is to make the 3rd day here in my part of Ohio. Supposed to have a front go through on Friday to drop the temps about 10Â°, and lower the humidity some. I'm patiently waiting. I just feel so badly for those that have to work outside for a living, and those without ac.

It was 69 degrees this morning in Central Florida. We haven't seen that since sometime in May, so I threw open the doors and windows to get some fresh air in here. Finally had to close it back up around 9:30, but we enjoyed it while it lasted.

Going up to 92 today, but that's cool compared to some other parts of the country.

We're the same here Gadgets. Our weather people say that one day of 90 degree temps doesn't make it a heat wave. This is our 3rd day and not expected to break till the weekend.

They're really urging seniors and the young to be careful. The heat and humidity is gawdawful.

The Queen was here in Ont,for a few days, here in my city on Monday and then to New York, where they had/have 100* weather. First time in many years.

Queen Elizabeth looks so calm and cool in this heat. Don't know how she does it. She is truly an elegant lady.

74.7 in Eastern Nebraska at 9:22pm. 88% humidity which is down from 97% preshower today. Ofcourse my daily walk was during the 97% humidity. LOL

Well, we have had cooler than normal weather all week while my son was visiting from NYC. He returned to his hot apartment in Brooklyn last night after our foggy day heated up to a cozy 60 degrees. I bet he wishes he were still here!
