I think your husband's being silly. It's not that you don't care, it's that the caring is such a part of you that you don't necessarily notice its components. When someone asks, it makes sense that you'd need a minute to think and to recognize what's already there.

I think he expected you to say "you" immediately. But that would be obvious to him, wouldn't it?

I care about my sweetie, my family and pets. I also care about what our world is going to be like.

The way prices are skyrocketing for groceries, utilities, and things we need to live bother the heck out of me.

Also the fact that *nothing* lasts. Anything we buy is designed to be thrown out, when it fails, after a few short years, if that. Everything from large appliances to simple things. I hate, hate that.

I would have a hard time answering that quesion, as I care about many, mnay things. It would be very difficult to single out one thing. He probably did want to hear that he came first. I would think that should be obvious and he wouldn't have to be reassured.

I wonder what motivated him to start a philosophical (of sorts) discussion early in the morning. Maybe he wanted to tell you what he cared about? It's an odd question, and certainly your pause was justified.

I procrastinate over things. There were two things in particular that I haven't gotten around to finishing. I still have three months to get it done, but in his mind procrastinating means you don't care.

It would depend on the tone he said it in...if he just asked quietly and simply, he may not know if HE cares about anything and was wondering if he was alone in that. If so, he may be overwhelmed or depressed?

I agree with alisande and joann's reply...it makes sense to me that when you care about everything you wouldn't notice the individual components...it would be the very essence of you.

Hmmm...quite question to ponder any way you look at it.

I notice you posted this before 7 a.m. If anybody asks me anything that early in the morning--including my name--I'm sure to hesitate.

Okay, so he thinks you don't care about anything. Big deal--you KNOW you do! Make a list and discuss it with him. Preferably at a more decent time of day :-)

He thinks what I'm procrastinating about is a reflection on him, which it isn't because it's something I'm taking care of myself.

I think that's part of the problem; when I'm doing something that he perceives will reflect negatively on him, he gets mad.

I shouldn't let these things bother me, but they do.

DH often says I care more about the animals than I do him. He just doesn't understand that he can get up and get a glass of water, the dogs and cats and chickens cannot. I chose to keep them, I must take care of them.

Also, I am not doing this INSTEAD of things for him, I am doing it ALONG with things for him. I stretch my time to do things for him, the animals, and for DD.

Yesterday we had a tiff because DD has a friend coming to stay all week. He is on afternoons and feels this will keep him from doing what he needs to do, since they will be home all day. Ummmmm, how are they going to interfere with watching tv from 8:00am to 2:00pm? Since that is what he does, then goes to work. Too lazy to make something to eat, he gets fast food and doesn't want to get them some too.

I have laid in supplies for them for breakfast and lunch, he is just grumpy because he hates this shift.

Why don't we sit those grumpy men in a corner and we can do something fun?

Perhaps the subject here is husbands. IMO men want to feel most important, to be 'put first', as well as flirted with and 'mothered'.

My aunt had this ability. She was a *magnet* for dogs and men. All males adored her within minutes of meeting her. Even my little boy just beamed around her. She married four times and was constantly courted in between. (Three husbands died.)

My aunt wasn't a beauty, although she was attractive and had lovely warm brown eyes. She was small and feminine, with a soft voice. She took care of herself. She was highly intelligent -- a master contract brige player -- and had a quick sense of humor. She was a good cook.

Mostly, I think, she knew how to PAY ATTENTION and to COSSET! (Cosset: verb, to make a pet of, fondle, pamper.) That was her charm; she was an intelligent, interesting woman...and INTERESTED.

I also think she had a special scent. I was unsurprised when a pair of slippers she 'handed down' to me were immediately stolen by our dog. LOL

She lived past 100 -- in comfortable circumstances.

My response at that time of the morning without coffee would have been "huh?". As in "what the h#ll are you talking about?"

Yes, I would have to stop and think about it, especially that early in the morning. I assume he wanted a serious answer not just some off the cuff remark like.. right now? My coffee. LOL We've been married a long time so my DH knows what I care about, and what I don't care about. LOL

My mom, my sons, my nieces and their families and my friends, and all children everywhere. I do feel concerned about the environment.

I don't care about my ex-husband, if he should ever ask. Well, I do care only in as much as it affects my children.

It would depend on the situation and reason surrounding the question.

Here we have been seeing hurricane preparedness alerts. In that case the question becomes what do you care about that you must take with you that you don't want to lose, that would hurt to lose, etc.
There are things I would certainly like to save because I care, but other than my husband my dog and myself in reality I could live with out the rest, maybe not comfortably or happily.

If the question were in the philosophical, all encompassing what do you care about. That would be almost impossible to answer with out saying pretty much everything, each thing affects the other. It can be a very deep question LOL

No offense intended but if that were my husband I'd tell him to get over himself. There are other factors in this world besides him. :)

If anyone asked me that no matter who it was my answer would be family. That includes my husband first, then my daughter & her family, my other daughter who went to heaven in Dec. & the rest of my extended family. Oh yes all the animals are in the top of that mix.

Like jasdip, I too think he wanted you to immediately say him. Now in your mind, you may feel that goes without saying and you were thinking of the whole list of things in your mind. Rather early in the morning to be so philosophical but a good conversation starter. Think I will use it this weekend with DH. LOL
