Oh boy! Now Spitz is bringing me presents!

2 lizards today. We were chasing lizards around the kitchen.Caught them and put them outside.He's an "indoor/outdoor" cat now. I don't like him going out,the other two don't.But we have doggie doors and I can't take that away from the dogs.So since he thinks he's a dog,he uses the doggie door,I do shut it at night though.Make sure he's in first.

It was funny tonight,the dogs were barking at the neighbors.They were having a BBQ,so I made them come in and be quiet.Because I HATE when we're trying to sit out front and the other neighbors dogs carry on....anyway,I told Larry thet Spitz was still out but he don't bark.Larry said "Yet!" LOL! I never saw a cat that wants to be a dog so bad!

That sounds like a very thoughtful kitty....bringing gifts!
When we lived in the country, our kitties were indoor/outdoor pets with their own cat door. One morning one of them brought in a flying squirrel. Can you picture the melee of Hubs and I trying to catch this little creature, flying (or jumping) from curtain to curtain....with the help of 4 cats. Finally, I caught the cats, one by one and put them in the basement door. Then Hubs was able to catch the little guy with a net and released it out in the pine grove, non worse for wear. By the way this was all before we had our morning coffee. LOL

Chubby Rat, maybe you should rename Spitz.....Rover. Anyways, any pics of your furbaby?

What keeps the other two cats from going out the dog door?

We used to have trouble getting our outdoor cat to come in at night. She just didn't want to come in. We had to keep food from her during the day so she would be hungry at night and we could get her in.

It went OK. There has been a surplus of wind these past few weeks. Most every day has had a small craft warning for the bay. Winds were strong enough to forbid the tyros from going out in it. I've been waiting for a lull in the winds on the weekend. I want to take the new kayak out to Sand Island lighthouse for a look-see. Staging for Fort Morgan it will only be about a 6 mile round trip. It's doable, but I would prefer calm seas and little wind.

Another variant: passion ennobles; addiction degrades. My gardening makes the world more beautiful and, I think, more healthy, as I garden organically and work by enriching the soil, and grow frugal varieties that don't consume a lot of precious water. I also think there's a difference between buying a plant that has a good chance of bringing me happiness for the rest of my life, and money paid for some pleasure that lasts an hour. Well, pesky at least the clutter in your house came from people your husband *knows*. I've got one that, literally, brings home junk he finds in piles outside people's houses because it is 'too good to throw away' or we 'may use this one day' or even 'because nobody should just toss someone's stuff out like that'. Well, maybe not but I simply can not convince this man that because an object exists in the universe, it belongs in our home or garage or backyard! I mean really, I can feel badly-in theory-for the elderly deceased person whose family evidently didn't want his trophies from the 1950s. Although, let's keep in mind that the elderly deceased person isn't using them either. That doesn't mean I can keep them at my house however. But rest assured, just because he is salvaging strangers' possessions he is also quite capable of storing/rescuing trash from people he does know. Right now he has a motorcycle carrier in the garage. We don't own a motorcycle. We will never own a motorcycle. There is no possible utility for us in having a motorcycle carrier. However a work colleague was going to junk it and, all together now, "it's worth money, you can't just throw it away!". So.....it sat for months. Then he tried selling it on Ebay and nobody wanted it. Now I keep telling him to GET RID OF IT. Oops, did I raise my virtual voice!?!? A few years ago a therapist I consulted for some other issues warned me that my husband has definite hoarding tendencies. In obscure corners and drawers, I sometimes find stuff like little stashes of bread ties, or the disposable bags that vegetables are put into at the market, etc etc. I quietly dispose of them. And yes he still has his 70s corduroy pants, and his cowboy boots he also hasn't worn since the 70s. And his check stubs for the past 20 years. And, and, and.... It's a tough one. Ann

Trisha, There isn't much i can say that hasn't already been said. I just finished Chemo on the 5th of this month for BC.I had a bilateral mastectomy,followed by chemo,i didn't need radiation. The day i knew i had BC i cried for over 4 hours,we did call the dr and ask for an anti anxiety med. I have a good support system of family and friends,and i have a very good attitude,always have had that,and that's what got me thru the rough spots. I'm sorry you had to join this sisterhood,but you can get thru this with faith,determination and a good attitude,"This too shall pass". Only God knows when our time is up,dr's just guess. We have 2 indoor cats and 1 "catches" pens...You know the noise the cats make when they have caught something, well, that's what she does...She is so proud, so of course, we always say, good girl.....
The outside semi ferals are forever bringing little presents and laying them on the mat in front of the door...We never, ever step outside without checking, 1st.....But, they also make that noise and are so proud.....

Two of our current cats carry their toys around. Dude carries a lambskin 'worm' and Bob carries one of those flat foxes and a stuffed squirrel, they both make 'the sound' to show us they have been triumphant hunters. Moosie loves to play with plastic golf balls, he runs off with them from time to time.

Moosie did catch a bat once.....OMG......

The other two cats don't go out the doggie door because they hate the dogs(they're both just haters!) .They stay upstairs all day (2 bedrooms and a big hallway.)until the dogs go to bed,then come down.By then I have the doggie doors shut.I spend a couple hours with them before I go to bed and on the weekends,I sleep on the couch with them. They are still so mean to Spitz and Kissy. Just rotten haters is what they are! LOL! But they love people,go figure.
Going to go watch that video...I fully expect Spitz to start barking soon.

You could always get one of those doors with the radio latch on it. The dog wears a collar that transmits a signal that trips the door latch so it can go through.

Spitz is just bringing in some toys as a peace offering to the other cats! He's got some catching up to do to become the "favorite".

And tonight I got THREE Junebugs! Oh joy! Sorta worried what tomorrow may bring.I wish he'd quit bringng gifts...he's staying,doesn't need to bribe me with gifts.

My cat has a special sound she makes when she's got prey...I just cringe before I even get to her...here lately though it's been harmless grasshoppers...but every now and then it's a pine beetle...those are the creepiest looking things...but better then a snake or a bat!

I'm with you CR...I can do without gifts! i've been giving her shrimp everyday so I think that's helping with her looking for gifts!

When I was a teenager, we had a dog that thought she was a cat. She caught garter snakes and field mice with her paws and brought them to us in her mouth. Yuck, picking up a snake! Dad always took them away and "dispatched" them.

Oh boy! Now Spitz is bringing me presents!
