Oh boy! Now Spitz is bringing me presents!

2 lizards today. We were chasing lizards around the kitchen.Caught them and put them outside.He's an "indoor/outdoor" cat now. I don't like him going out,the other two don't.But we have doggie doors and I can't take that away from the dogs.So since he thinks he's a dog,he uses the doggie door,I do shut it at night though.Make sure he's in first.

It was funny tonight,the dogs were barking at the neighbors.They were having a BBQ,so I made them come in and be quiet.Because I HATE when we're trying to sit out front and the other neighbors dogs carry on....anyway,I told Larry thet Spitz was still out but he don't bark.Larry said "Yet!" LOL! I never saw a cat that wants to be a dog so bad!

That sounds like a very thoughtful kitty....bringing gifts!
When we lived in the country, our kitties were indoor/outdoor pets with their own cat door. One morning one of them brought in a flying squirrel. Can you picture the melee of Hubs and I trying to catch this little creature, flying (or jumping) from curtain to curtain....with the help of 4 cats. Finally, I caught the cats, one by one and put them in the basement door. Then Hubs was able to catch the little guy with a net and released it out in the pine grove, non worse for wear. By the way this was all before we had our morning coffee. LOL

Chubby Rat, maybe you should rename Spitz.....Rover. Anyways, any pics of your furbaby?

What keeps the other two cats from going out the dog door?

We used to have trouble getting our outdoor cat to come in at night. She just didn't want to come in. We had to keep food from her during the day so she would be hungry at night and we could get her in.

Okay...I guess I have to give him the benifit of doubt....He DID cut it and BURN it but he sucked up ahead of time....Out of the blue for our anniversary a few weeks ago he bought me new Canon Rebel XT....I was truly surprised...It was our 42nd anniversary...so you see...he must be worth something...I've kept him around a LONG time...and hope to keep him a lot longer...well....unless he burn more of my treasures... I'll rag on my son a little...We recently tore down an old shed...rented one of those big trash bins they bring in ...While we were gone he got that whole thing down and cleaned out...only problem was...he threw away my super old bicycle we called her dute da dute...after the music being played when the wicked witch in Wiz of Oz was riding the bike...do do do do do...Mine looked like that one. It was clear in the bottom of the bin and covered...I did rescue my rusty red wheelbarrow and an oval wash tub, they were at the top of the bin...but he threw away one of my galvanized watering cans and several enamelware bowls. I'm sure there was more that I can't remember right now. I'll probably be looking for them someday...oh ! I just remembered..my bowling balls...he got to them too...so he's on my list right now too...lol...

Seattle? You should have mentioned that first thing. You are lucky in that the predominant turf grass for your area is ryegrass. Ryegrass has the characteristic of sprouting very quickly, so if you wanted to reseed, you could still get away with it. Also, since you live in Seattle, the summer heat might not kill the new grass. In the rest of the country you have to throw in that warning but not necessarily in the PNW. So I rescind my comment that now is not the time to reseed. For you and you alone, go for it. But still I would be trying to revive the lawn you have. Unless it is really dead, and you should know by now, I would water it deeply and apply an organic fertilizer like alfalfa pellets (rabbit chow). Watch it carefully for signs of getting worse. I If you are able to get an inch of water on it now I would not water again for 2-3 weeks unless you were sure the grass was suffering from drying out. Generally the lawn experts do not work at Home Depot. Those are the shelf stocking experts who might have had minimal training about the products they stock. We used to have an expert here at GardenWeb from Vancouver. I learned a lot from her back in 2001 and 2002. When the organic gardening history books are written, Althea should get the credit for bringing used coffee grounds as an organic fertilizer to the attention of the forums. That revelation was vital to the understanding of the modern organic gardening movement as we move out of the Rodale era. Aaaaand that's your history lesson for the day. I think I got that right. It went OK. There has been a surplus of wind these past few weeks. Most every day has had a small craft warning for the bay. Winds were strong enough to forbid the tyros from going out in it. I've been waiting for a lull in the winds on the weekend. I want to take the new kayak out to Sand Island lighthouse for a look-see. Staging for Fort Morgan it will only be about a 6 mile round trip. It's doable, but I would prefer calm seas and little wind.

My world looks pretty much like that of UNBIDDEN. There was some melting today, as the temps were in the high 40s and we had a big all-day rainstorm yesterday. Just enough to give a spring-like smell to the air and tantalize. Already the radio weatherman says to prepare for a lot colder weather starting Monday, and possible MORE snow Wedneday. Argh! It's not fair. I've had to plan errands with care. Every errand depended on whether I thought I could get a parking space upon my return, as every other place to park a car was piled high with snow and at the same time competing with the thoughtless students at a nearby college, who think it's fine to leave 3 or 4 feet between their car and the next car fore and aft. So people who own residences can't even park in front of their own home! Having to park 2 and 3 blocks away from my own home, especially when carrying heavy packages, is not fun, especially when it's icy. The students couldn't care less.

We have 2 indoor cats and 1 "catches" pens...You know the noise the cats make when they have caught something, well, that's what she does...She is so proud, so of course, we always say, good girl.....
The outside semi ferals are forever bringing little presents and laying them on the mat in front of the door...We never, ever step outside without checking, 1st.....But, they also make that noise and are so proud.....

Two of our current cats carry their toys around. Dude carries a lambskin 'worm' and Bob carries one of those flat foxes and a stuffed squirrel, they both make 'the sound' to show us they have been triumphant hunters. Moosie loves to play with plastic golf balls, he runs off with them from time to time.

Moosie did catch a bat once.....OMG......

The other two cats don't go out the doggie door because they hate the dogs(they're both just haters!) .They stay upstairs all day (2 bedrooms and a big hallway.)until the dogs go to bed,then come down.By then I have the doggie doors shut.I spend a couple hours with them before I go to bed and on the weekends,I sleep on the couch with them. They are still so mean to Spitz and Kissy. Just rotten haters is what they are! LOL! But they love people,go figure.
Going to go watch that video...I fully expect Spitz to start barking soon.

You could always get one of those doors with the radio latch on it. The dog wears a collar that transmits a signal that trips the door latch so it can go through.

Spitz is just bringing in some toys as a peace offering to the other cats! He's got some catching up to do to become the "favorite".

And tonight I got THREE Junebugs! Oh joy! Sorta worried what tomorrow may bring.I wish he'd quit bringng gifts...he's staying,doesn't need to bribe me with gifts.

My cat has a special sound she makes when she's got prey...I just cringe before I even get to her...here lately though it's been harmless grasshoppers...but every now and then it's a pine beetle...those are the creepiest looking things...but better then a snake or a bat!

I'm with you CR...I can do without gifts! i've been giving her shrimp everyday so I think that's helping with her looking for gifts!

When I was a teenager, we had a dog that thought she was a cat. She caught garter snakes and field mice with her paws and brought them to us in her mouth. Yuck, picking up a snake! Dad always took them away and "dispatched" them.

Oh boy! Now Spitz is bringing me presents!
