My granddaughter just said the sweetest thing

She is just 7 years old today, and has a couple of friends spending the night.

One of the other girls saw David's brace on his shoe and asked what it was, and I told her at the time he had his accident and when he lost his arm his leg was also broken.

She asked why he didn't die, and before I could answer my

grandaughter spoke up and said, "grandma, he didn't die because he needed to meet me first."

Kids.

My heart is melted for the night.

That's a beaut, Jeff. You are correct, my pups were definitely a bit heftier...I will post an updated pic tomorrow if I can. Not sure whether they have grown much, though...but they haven't given up yet, either. All except one, that is... I gave one to my mother-in-law (set up for a funny story, right?). Well, she set it outside after I gave her full instructions (she was game!). Within two days, the pup was gone! Pot and soil were intact, but the pup had vamoosed! It is a mystery to this day.... Wow guys... Thanks for all of the great suggestions and fun links! In our last home, the walls were sage green. It looked beautiful with our things. I was leaning toward more of a goldy tan here just for a change and for more versatility. My fear is that if I keep my current color theme that it will be out of style soon. I am seeing so many people painting over their golds and moving toward the greys and blue/greens. I love this look and see it in many of my inspiration pics. If I totally changed gears, I would likely need to get a new rug. So many decisions! I do love the look/ feel of soofrivers home. I love the wainscoting and her light walls, which is odd considering I am a color person. I had a blast going through the cottage of the month site- those are some amazing places! I was considering adding some wainscoting, but wasn't sure where. I am going to need major help with window treatments, as I really struggle with them. I do know that DH will not want any of the window covered. As for things I like...I love anything out of the Pottery Barn catalog and also like a mix with some antiques. Thank you!!!

Just last night,our one neighbor told me that God sent me to him. He has to travel for work (right now is a busy time of year for him.Insurance salesman) His brother always took care of his 3 dogs,but no longer wanted to.It's a 1/2 hr drive for him everyday.I didn't know that he didn't want to do it anymore,but told Larry to tell him that if he wanted,I could watch his dogs when he has to travel.He told him last Saturday and the poor man almost cried! He said he couldn't believe it! He was so worried about what to do with his dogs and here comes Larry with a remedy! LOL! I didn't want any money,I'm only a house away so no gas used or anything.And I'm not working anymore,so lots of free time.I just watched them for 4 days (he got home last night) and he insisted on giving me 50 dollars.He's leaving again on Sunday for a week.He has a beautiful little chi (I kept her here..LOL!) a White Shepard and a yellow Lab mix.All I do is go over and let them out,feed and water them.Then at night go put them in the house.Easy Peasy! He has a big fenced in yard so they stay out all day. I never saw anyone say Thank You so many times! I told him not to worry...I LOVE dogs and enjoy doing it.

Thanks acadiafun1! What a nice thing to say. :-). Haha, Abbisgram! I think 11x12 is a good sized room! The room I'm staying in until I move into my house in .June is 12x12 and I think it's huge! Kids these days. And my goodness! Some people just can't take a compliment. They have to turn everything around and be negative. Some people are just unhappy by nature and it spills over in everything they say or do. I'm guessing she was unhappy with her house to begin with, and when you gave an honest compliment, she couldn't see it. "Cozy" can mean small in real estate, but it's also a nice compliment to someone's style in making their home warm and inviting. As a teenager, one summer we got to vacation for a week at my parents' friend's cabin, which was a lovely A frame. I had never seen one before, and I thought it was the coolest thing ever! And what a mean and rude thing to say about the light! Even if she did hate it, she didn't need to say that. There's no pleasing some people.

Here it is 2pm and I am just climbing out of my robe. Made breakfast for the girls, and then lunch just a bit ago.
I am so out of groceries, it was grilled cheese sandwiches and tater tots, with a freezie pop later.
I need to get out of here and go to the store for snacks for tomorrows birthday party.
Auntie Kelsey is bringing an ice cream cake so all I need are the balloons and sandwich fixings, chips and soda.
I told DH dinner is on him tonite. lol
I am pooped, but will sleep well tonite I am sure.

My DGD loves her grandpa, but did go through a phase after her cousin met him and told her he did not have an arm.
She never gave it any thought because she grew up here from 2 weeks of age.
For just about a month, she was scared of him, and I finally pulled her aside, she was about 4 at the time.
Why are you afraid of grandpa? She said because he doesn't look like other grandpa's, and cousin said he might be a monster.
I felt awful for her. Kids have the oddest imaginations.
I told her that grandpa only has one arm to hug her with, but he is not a monster, and loved her more than anybody I knew. He would protect her with one arm stronger than anybody with two arms.

She was just fine after that. Kids are just so precious.

I cherish these days, as before I know it she will be a teenager.... aaaack!!!!

Bless her heart--she couldn't have said anything sweeter to melt hearts--yours, Grandpa's and everyone here. I think I'd have been in tears for the sheer joy!
