Not sure what it is with her either. Maybe she is trying to out do Cher...maybe Boy George? She is so cute without all the outlandish outfits. I can't get past them, to enjoy her music.

In interviews, she says she is representing all the misfits in society. She's giving all the people who "don't fit in", someone to relate to. That's what she said.
(Besides being a total attention hog.) She's a misfit, alright!

Yeah, she sure does seem to love the attention, but man, can that girl sing. Sounds an awful lot like Madonna to me.

Don't know if it is true or not...but I heard she used to be a he.

I'm thinking she can go unrecognized in public dressed like the rest of us and not be bothered. :)

I just consider her a freak show that I totally choose to ignore. I figure it might be someone who craves attention and just chooses to go about it in an unconventional way...kind of like a show off.

She is the Madonna for this generation.... nothing new about her at all.

I enjoy her music and her performance. Yep, she's one of a kind.

Her appearance appalls me. But I've never heard her sing. She may have some talent there. She reminds me of Madonna, crazy looks, etc.

I saw that about her attending graduation. What an embarrassment she must have been to the family.

Well....IN MY OPINION....if she truly had any musical talent, she wouldn't have to revert to being a freak. Obviously what talent she may have, isn't good enough to stand alone. JMO

I like her. I'm kind of surprised at how vehemently people are attacking her.

The world would be a really boring place if everyone conformed to the same style, whether it be clothing or personality or artistic interests. Variety is the spice of life, and some of the most influential people in history were considered eccentric in their time.

She's vocal about being single and celibate, and she's an advocate for young girls being strong and independent over using their sexuality. I find that refreshing.

I don't like her name and have never seen her perform but I love her attitude about representing the misfits in the world.
I feel everyone is put on this earth to teach lessons and learn lessons.

I agree 100% with chi83. I'm not a huge Lady Gaga fan, but her music is catchy and she is unique. Being different doesn't mean someone is a "freak". She gives a much better message to girls than the likes of Britney Spears or Lyndsay Lohan.

I heard her sing one time and was pleasantly surprised at how good she sounded. And her music made sense (to me anyway). Maybe she's just having fun with her clothing.

She sounded very sincere in her interview, about feeling left out in school, and wanting to be a model for those who have felt the same. I sure can't understand why she chooses to be so odd?... or is that the point??

I LOVE Lady Gaga, she is an awesome performer and a very talented musician. She started out as a songwriter writing hits for some top acts. Her music is great to work out to. I plan on going to see her at Lollapalooza in Chicago in August, should be a really interesting show. There is a strong similarity to Madonna in some of her songs/looks, but she is a far stronger singer.

As far as her being a man, I guess some people will believe any rumor they hear. That's why rumors are so dangerous, they are repeated as if they are the truth.

Ohhh sleeperblues if you can get a camera into lolla take pics!! i happen to love her music, i think she's the new madonna for a younger generation. i think her costumes add to the "show" and these days w/ costs of concert tix around $100 it is never enough to just have a great voice or even that combined w/ writing talent, you must have the whole "show". i tried this past jan to get tix to UCF but could not get decent seats :-( my co-worker ended up paying a broker an extra $100 a tix to go and the show was well worth it rolling stone did a nice spread on her well over a yr ago, it was very informative and until then i was just a fan of her music after reading the article i had a new respect for her vision & talent ~ liz

I see her act as a form of artistic expression.

Not everyone's cup of tea, and though I don't know a lot about her, I've enjoyed watching her on TV.

Most of her music isn't exactly what I would choose, but the girl (and YES, she is a GIRL) has a beautiful voice!

She's a performance artist, not just a singer. I enjoy her.

I like her, and think her music is catchy. I can't understand why her image would bother anyone, she's just VERY artistic.

Her music is catchy and her outfits don't bother me, at least the ones I've seen. They're certainly very theatrical. And I like her voice a lot.

But I really don't like the videos of hers I've seen. The one where it looked like she was being auctioned off to men was disturbing to me. But I didn't watch the whole thing, perhaps there was some redeeming value at the end.

I agree with Chi83 and the rest of you who appreciate her music and aren't hung up by her appearance.

I realize some will never get past her style. A Freak? Really. But then, some never got past Elvis' gyrating hips. Too bad, for it just keeps them from getting any deeper into the talent and character.

As for her family, my guess is they are proud, not embarrassed. According to the article her little sister wasn't the least bit upset. This is a woman who knew what she wanted and went after it, despite being picked on and bullied. Being an individual in a crowd of sheeple takes guts and determination.

And Liz, I certainly would take pictures if I got into her show. I've never been to Lolla, but I imagine the draw for her show would be huge, so we'll have to wait and see if we get in. But there are a ton of great bands that I want to see, so we'll have fun in any case. It helps having college kids who are really into music because they turn us oldsters on to some pretty amazing stuff. My ipod looks like it belongs to a college kid.

I like to keep up with artist my "kids" (nieces, nephews, and young friends) are interested in. Also, I saw a YouTubed spoof of her "Telephone" video done by some of our soldiers in Afganastan. It was a hoot and caused me to start researching the young lady.

I saw her being interviewed on Larry King; it gave me more insight into her work and why she does it. She's a very mature 24 year old, people she admires most are her mother and grandmother. How boring is that, lol....

and surprise.

I agree she's this generations' Madonna. But, I think she's naturally more talented (she really does have a great voice). She's maybe not as pretty as Madonna, but she has real sex appeal which Madonna only strived for.

And, regardless of what she looks like on stage, I wouldn't doubt she's a half ways decent person in real life.

If you haven't seen her video "Bad Romance" check it out on YouTube. She has such charisma that she drowns out all the background dancers, IMHO. Now the video is very sexually suggestive and odd, so don't view if you get offended easy. But I think it's probably one of the the best music videos I've ever seen.

I watched one of those music award shows just to see Lady Ga Ga. I was really surprised that I liked her voice. She does remind one of Madonna back in the day, but unlike someone said earlier, I think she's cuter. Her costumes are hilarious--especially the one she wore to meet the Queen.
