Colonoscopy time for me
Comments (57)I am doing prep today for a colonoscopy tomorrow. Doing the split dose of Prepopik. I had the first 5 ounces around noon. I have the orange flavor - tastes like AirBorne, fizzy and pleasant. Followed by clear liquids of my choice. I had water, mint tea, coconut water, chicken broth. Took second dose around 6pm. More clear liquids. The first dose took 2 hours to work. From that point on, every time I drank liquids I'd have to visit the bathroom. I think the first dose cleared me out completely. The second dose has had no effect so far, even after drinking 40 ounces of clear liquids. I've had no nausea or side effects with either dose. Getting ready for bed now. I expect to be able to sleep normally. The procedure is at noon tomorrow. I can recommend this prep....See MoreSurvived my colonoscopy and prep...
Comments (10)Usually if they find nothing you only have to have one every 10 years. If they find adenomatous polyps they usually recommend you have one every three years. Adenomatous polyps are benign but they are the kind of polyps that can become cancer if left there long enough. We are kind of colonoscopy experts since DH's parents both had colon cancer as well as an aunt and a grandparent. He has adenomatous polyps and goes in every three years and has new adenomatous polyps every time he goes in. I fortunately have no polyps of any kind so I don't have to go back any time soon....See More"Fortify" me for mattress shopping!
Comments (19)Do you want memory foam, an air mattress, or spring and coil? No offense, but how the hell would I know? I want a mattress that feels good all night long, from when I first crawl into bed till when I hop out in the morning feeling rested and refreshed. I have needed a new mattress for more years than I'm willing to admit. But I keep putting it off for all the reasons given above. I once slept on a Tempur-pedic (admittedly 8 or so years ago) and it was gross. I prefer to know enough about a product when I go shopping so I can call BS (or at least think it) when a sales person is pressuring me. Here's something else. Do I need to consider my bed as well? My current bed could go at any time. Right now I have a single mattress without a box spring. Does the bed frame determine what set-up you need? Is Macy's totally a bad place to look? I like a soft-ish top. I like to fall asleep on my back. Most nights it takes me like 30 seconds. Grateful....See MorePrep Alternatives (Possibly TMI)
Comments (14)It is because people were not following the directions and drinking the required water with the pills, I discussed that with my doctors, I know how to take them and drink lots of water with them, never had any problems at all. The situation in realitly is that all of these preps are dangerous the human body was not meant to have that kind of stuff put in you in those drastic amounts and it reacts by doing what it does it goes into flush mode. All of the prep meds are not supposed to be taken in those large amounts normally so your body is being exposed to an over dose actually of those drugs. So none are healthy for you. All of them contain chemicals that would be dangerous to the kidneys the mechanism of these meds is to pull all the water from your tissues and body to flush out your colon, when you pull out all that water your kidneys are left basically high and dry. Which is Why it is Imperative you drink so much water to try to keep that balance that is needed. The PIE method is the safest method of all because no drugs are used and only water is applied to the colon. Which is why I wish more doctors offices would use this method. Most likely why he said you don't want that is because he does not offer it and probably knows if he said you did want it you would be looking for the nearest doctor that offers it. So no matter what prep you do if you are taking any type of laxative drugs to flush the colon you NEED to drink a ton of water or clear liquids period. That is one of the reasons many doctors still use the horrible golytly because it requires you to mix it with a gallon of water so you are forced to drink all of the water. If they think some one is not likely to follow the drinking water directions with the pills they will not allow it. I assured my doctor since I have used the pills previously I know how to do it and he believes I am capable of following the instructions....See MoreAnnie Deighnaugh
