I haven't done it yet, but I'll try to post my GH erection efforts "Step-By-Step." They won't be as good as conifers'/Dax's pictorial, but I'll do my best (Gotta "Give Back to the Community," right?!!) I think the wood-cutting is still a "hair" off, but the 'errors' will be put on the back-side (next to a fence, where no one will ever walk / have an opportunity to bend the aluminum base). Or maybe I'll add some skinny/lath/shim kinda material for the Too hot to dig up veggies right now, so I'll postpone that 'til early evening (or early tomorrow morning). I'll probably move my "boring observations" to the webpage (When I start it!). I'll just make note, on here, when I post updates - so I won't bore everyone with my long-winded commentary!!! Of course, I'm *sure* I'll have more questions as I go through this - and I *will* post those questions here! And I just thought of another Q: Should I paint the RW base before I assemble it? If so, white (for reflective qualities)? Or black (for heat-sinking)??? Or should I just hold off on that altogether (bearing in mind that it'll be easier to paint BEFORE I assemble it)??? I will have to check and see who I would complain to at a higher level. The guy at the post office that they always send me to complain to is a jerk. He acts like he could care less and just smiles and says priority mail is not guaranteed delivery in 2-3 days. Just a possibility. I'm like then why do we pay for that? He says it gets priority over regular mail but they only know to look for plants in those green bags and they get delivered first. Maybe we should start poking holes in the box and write live plants on it. I haven't gotten to take any pics of the new brugs yet. John killed the batteries in the camera. He forgot to turn it off last night. The little leaves are really soft and fuzzy on Chantilly Lace. Feels like a baby rabbit, lol.

Oh, no, you don't need extra panels or pleats or anything if you're not doing a return at the sides! I didn't mean to give you extra work! A single panel will be fine! If you want to get fancy you can even add a bit of piping to the edge. If you don't have a good fabric store where you can buy piping on a tape that you can just pin into your seam and sew when you sew on your lining, it's easy to make one. In case you need instructions: Find a cord that's just a little smaller around than you want the piping to be, Cut a strip of fabric that's wide enough to wrap around the cord plus about 2 inches, and about six inches longer than the valence. Fold the cord into the strip and pin closed (right side out). Use your zipper foot to sew close to the cord, leaving just a little wiggle room (approx. 1/8"). Trim the edge from the cord to the the raw, to the same width as your seam allowance for the valence, so that it's easy to make everything line up. When you put your lining back to back with the valence fabric, the piping goes in between, with the cord inside and the all the edges lining up. Use your zipper foot again to sew your seam right along where the piping is. Because you left a little room next to the cord, your first stitching to make the piping should be covered by the new seam, but it shouldn't matter since it'll be so far above eye level, if you use matching thread to the piping color to make the piping. When you stitch, don't go right to the ends, or unpick it back to where your side seams will be. That way you can tuck the end of the piping up in the seam, tack it in place to the lining fabric, and cut it off. You can trim out the end of the cord within the piping fabric at the end to keep it from making a lump. Then finish the corners and top/rod pocket, as usual. If you want the piping to go up the sides, make it the correct length (bottom plus 2 sides, plus an inch for turning plus 6" for sanity. As you turn the corner when you're basting/pinning, clip from the outer edge of the piping corner, in toward the stitching line, ending a tad before the stitching.

The three colors I picked out when I made my suggestions were very different undertones, but were meant as examples of the depth of color. There are two factors that go into finding the perfect color that are really difficult to do via the internet. One is that color preferences are extremely personal and two, colors have to be looked at as a collection of colors. It must be 25 or 30 years ago when I came home to Pennsylvania for Christmas. Back then, when my mom was still alive, the entire family gathered at her house for Christmas Eve. It was quite the celebration and we all took pains to find the perfect outfit. My sister Betty lived here in Pennsylvania, Susie drove in from New Jersey and I flew in from California. Apparently there was one outstanding velvet pant suit sold across the US that season. My two sisters and I had all bought it. I have ivory skin and dark sable brown hair and dark brown eyes. I bought the deep Christmas Red. Susie has olive skin and golden brown hair and brown eyes. She bought it in deep Emerald Green. Betty has dark blond hair, fair skin and hazel eyes. She bought it in deep Navy Blue. We obviously have very similar taste, but our coloring is not the same and our homes reflect these same differences. We all live in Pennsylvania now, but Betty's home is decorated in a contemporary style and her color palette is soft beige and pastels. Susie has a tudor home with an eclectic mix of Antique and Industrial furnishings with a fall color palette, deep oranges, golds, browns and greens. My home is an MCM home with MCM teak furnishings. I am renovating, but my color palette is being pulled from the colorful slate entry (called Red/Purple/Green slate). Walls have not yet been painted, but here is a picture that shows the entry tile (with drywall dust): I am using a lot of reds, teals and gray purples (my final decor will not include a paint sprayer on the hearth).
