Hey Hans Down here in SE Louisiana our Hippeastrum continue in a vegetation state year-round. I thought the HWT would give me a better start in eradicating the mites since, I recieved stock from several locations around the U.S. and Holland. My plan was to build an improved "boiler" loosely based on an article by Dave Karnstedt. But, if the general consensus is that the chemical treatment is just as effective, I will instead, rely on rotating between the above mentioned miticides while they are still in pots. I fear some of the bulbs were probably infested and, wanted to treat the plants prior to removing them from pots and planting them outdoors. My objective was to kill the mites before they infected my garden area. We have no idea where this new Hippeastrum bed will be since, the government has not yet informed me as to whether or not they are going to allow me to rebuild my house or, if I must relocate to higher ground. If any of my bulbs have already developed "Red Blotch" as a result of damage inflicted by the "tarsonermid" mite, are they beyond rescue?

Just a guess but, are you over packing your fridge, or blocking the holes where the air comes into the frig or freezer?

Wow, thanks for the information- I've never had that kind of luck with getting ModPodge to harden. You may very well be right-- it could be it was either too damp or not warm enough in the house. The nice thing about sealing over ModPodge or other glue products is that if you get enough layers over it, the decoupage has a sort of recessed/inlaid feel to it. Thanks everyone! I've been researching CD fridges all day and haven't found one I can live with yet!!! Couple answers to your awesome questions: @grenhaven - you made me giggle!! The mystery appliance is a wine cooler/beverage center. @sjhockeyfan - yes, the island is 112 inches, including 5 inches of overhang on the side. We may just have to lose that. Also, we don't have the option of customizing our cabinetry to extend out the depth of the fridge. :(. We are building a semi-custom home and have several limitations. @tomatofreak - after hours perusing here, I've learned many people happily live with less than what the experts recommend. But, your experience is exactly the type of information I'm looking for. @annkh - Nope, I have the dining room on other side.
